[Bug 337468] [NEW] Cannot move panels in dual-head non-compiz gnome desktop

2009-03-04 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Dual head, two flat panels of different pixel sizes side-by-side. One on
VGA, one on DVI.

The gnome panels do not have lock or unlock option, and can apparently
only be positioned on the VGA monitor.

In Intrepid, I could move panels between monitors by dragging.

[Bug 283278] Re: When FUSA applet has shutdown/logout items are duplicated in System menu

2009-03-04 Thread Matthew East
Another issue introduced by this is that (as Martin mentioned earlier)
we need to document both ways to shut down. This affects not only Ubuntu
documentation but includes yet another delta in the Gnome documentation
where we need to depart from upstream. We've only just found out about
this change in the documentation team, although fortunately it is before
string freeze.

Lots of people will remove the FUSA applet, either intentionally to save
panel space (because they don't have multi-user systems and can't see
the point of the huge long applet) or accidentally, so I can't see that
we can avoid documenting both ways. And this looks clumsy.

I would have thought that having one consistent way to shut down the
system is much more desirable.

There is also a problem with reinstating the FUSA applet - it's very
difficult to find in the Add to Panel dialogue. I've reported that as
bug 337479.

[Bug 337629] [NEW] weather indicator in the time/date applet does not keep up to date

2009-03-04 Thread Matthew East
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

The weather indicator that has appeared in the time/date applet since
intrepid appears not to update itself. Mine just gets stuck for several
days, unless I kill the panel, in which case it updates itself.

The separate weather applet has a preference in which the user can
specify that it updates itself every X minutes (defaulting to 30). This
should also apply to the weather indicator in the time/date applet.

[Bug 337529] Re: GIMP 2.6.5 crashes randomly with SIGSEGV in libgobject-2.0.so

2009-03-04 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 184839] Re: evolutions displays pgp-messages as attachment.dat

2009-03-04 Thread Sebastien Bacher
upstream comment

Please try with 2.25.92, where this seems to work fine for me. Evolution just
tries to decode inline pgp, which is correct behaviour.

http://bugzilla.gnome.org/attachment.cgi?id=129956action=view
what I see

could you try with the current jaunty version?

[Bug 337652] [NEW] gvfsd-sftp uses 100% CPU

2009-03-04 Thread Victor Osadci
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gvfs

gvfsd-sftp uses 100% CPU at random times and for no apparent reason.

There are not SFTP/SSH remote locations mounted, and there were none
since booting.

After some time since booting, a gvfsd-sftp process started using 100% of a CPU
core. The process restarted after being killed.
After a few more minutes, another gvfsd-sftp process started and used 100% of
the second CPU core.
This time I managed to kill both processes, and they didn't restart.

This is on Ubuntu 9.04 with all updates.

[Bug 311057] Re: Add to Panel - Menu bar just reproduces Main menu

2009-03-04 Thread jmaasing
No, I'm sorry, I meant rewording the description of the bug report. I
was trying to explain the same thing as already is in the bug report,
obviously I failed :-)

If you do:
Right click the panel
Select Add to panel

You'll see the choices:
Main menu - The main GNOME menu
Menu Bar - A custom menu bar

The problem is that the second choice leads to exactly the same result as the
first choice. That the main menu is added to the panel.
I expected the second choice to give me an empty menu that I could populate
myself. Instead it leads to the main menu added a second time to the panel.

[Bug 337468] Re: Cannot move panels in dual-head non-compiz gnome desktop

2009-03-04 Thread Jack Wasey
I'm afraid I still can't move panels to the right-hand monitor, but
thanks for the Alt tip. So this bug stands, although in slightly
different form. This may be related to it always booting into Mirrored
mode, and I have to change it manually each time. the panels may
therefore not know about the second screen.

[Bug 337652] Re: gvfsd-sftp uses 100% CPU

2009-03-04 Thread Victor Osadci
I had rhythmbox running during this time, and there where some songs in
the library that where on a remote SFTP server that was not available.

I removed the songs from the rhythmbox library, killed gvfsd-sftp, and
restarted rhytmbox; and the problem no longer occurs.

I don't know if this is a problem with rhythmbox or gvfs.

[Bug 37227] Re: unnamed imap folder

2009-03-04 Thread Pekka L J Jalkanen
I have a rather interesting case regarding this bug… I've two accounts
on the same server (server is Debian-supplied Dovecot on Etch using
maildirs as mail storage format), but in Evolution (Intrepid) only one
of them shows the unnamed empty folder as subscribed! The other shows it
as unsubscribed, so even though it still exists for Evolution's point of
view, it is not such a nuisance.

I checked the “subscription” files on server, and there is nothing
unusual in either of them that would explain this (I've root access to
the server).

And yes, I've this problem on my Gmail/IMAP account, too.

[Bug 283278] Re: When FUSA applet has shutdown/logout items are duplicated in System menu

2009-03-04 Thread wensveen
Before there was FUSA, there was another applet that could be used to
shut down or log off. So then there were multiple ways to shut down as
well. I don't see why FUSA has caused people to think differently, when
all it did was to incorporate that same *existing* functionality with
user switching (and IM status).

Speaking of which. Will we tweak the pidgin notification area 'thingy'?
Because that is duplicate functionality as well. Oh, and I can shut down
using the terminal, and by pressing the power key on my keyboard, and
the power button on my computer case. I don't see what's so wrong with
having multiple ways to do things. Being able to choose is good!

Sorry for the flamey tone of this comment, but I feel quite strongly
about this.

About the implementation of this patch: isn't there any way FUSA could
disable stuff in the gnome-panel, instead of the gnome-panel looking for
FUSA? That would be a little more future-proof. FUSA might not be around
forever.

[Bug 337432] Re: search button not available

2009-03-04 Thread Robert Wall
I experience the same problem as jtlb. The Find button in the Find
window (Ctrl-F) and the Replace button in the Replace window (Ctrl-H)
only activate if I click the dropdown arrow and select a previous
pattern. If I instead type something into the box (which is blank when I
open the window), the button does not activate. Once I choose a previous
pattern, the windows work fine in the current document until I close it.

Specific steps to reproduce:
1) Open a new gedit window
2) Type or copy-paste some text into the window
3) Click Search Find or Ctrl-F
4) Type in a search term in the Search for: box
5) Notice that the Find button is inactive

Expected result:
The Find button should activate when a search term is entered into the
Search for: box.

[Bug 337678] [NEW] file link to unmouted disk/partition

2009-03-04 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

when you create link to file to another mounted disk/partition

and after restart of ubuntu is not this disk automounted (ie nfts
partitions) and just click to valid link

ubuntu says that file doens't exists and would this invalid link move to
trash

so you mus open the disk from my spaces and after it you can use this
link normally

I think that mounting of device should by done automaticali when I click
to link ... not only when I open disk from my spaces

** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 337730] [NEW] Cached mail not deleted when account deleted

2009-03-04 Thread Ville Ranki
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

To reproduce:

1) Set up a mail account and download the mail
2) Delete the account
3) Notice, that .evolution/mail still contains all mail in the deleted account.

Also, if you recreate the account (even with different name) it finds
the cached mail.

Tested on Evolution 2.24.3 on Intrepid and a IMAP account.

** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
