[Bug 558999] Re: 'givenName' LDAP attribute not supported
Hi Sebastien, you're right, sorry for being over-enthusiastic about that. offtopicIt's just one of these things that I always get asked when talking to companies about linux adoption: does Linux have a decent groupware? With decent most of them associate not only quality, but also a FOSS character, so things are quite limited. It only gets more limited when they want to see a (FOSS) fat client à la Outlook - because the almost only decent solution out there is Evolution. And the most reasonable way to use central addressbooks is LDAP. Looking through the logs, I don't see anything which would identify the floppy as a fake one. So I see two options: 1) Fix the kernel to not actually export a floppy drive if there is none. This is bug 459950. 2) Fix gvfs to not try to automount floppy drives. Let's devote this bug to 2) then, since 1) already has one. Until I can get ssh access, I need to do some dry experiments here. [Bug 396448] Re: inconsistent automounting on startup
** Description changed: Binary package hint: devicekit-disks When starting a GNOME session without dk-disks running already, gvfs D-BUS activates dk-disks, which causes an automount attempt on internal hard disks. This doesn't happen if dk-disks is already running. I suspect it's due to dk-disks sending out new volume events during coldplugging. Reproducer: - ps ux|grep gvfs|awk '{print $2}'|xargs kill - gvfs-mount -l + ps ux|grep gvfs|awk '{print $2}'|xargs kill + gvfs-mount -l This does not trigger automounting. However, if this spawns dk-disks it happens: - sudo killall devkit-disks-daemon - ps ux|grep gvfs|awk '{print $2}'|xargs kill - gvfs-mount -l + sudo killall devkit-disks-daemon + ps ux|grep gvfs|awk '{print $2}'|xargs kill + gvfs-mount -l -- inconsistent automounting on startup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/396448 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gvfs in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Re: [Bug 549962] Re: Rhythmbox tray behaviour doesn't make sense
You can get the latest source of the original Rhythmbox here: http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/rhythmbox/0.12/rhythmbox-0.12.8.tar.bz2 Unpack it somewhere, then: sudo apt-get build-dep rhythmbox and you will have all the libraries needed to build it. Go to the directory where you unpacked the source archive, and: ./configure --enable-uninstalled-build make Afterwards you can run the original rhythmbox with: shell/rhythmbox Maybe somebody will take the time to create a package with the original source. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution i have tried to copy my works exchange global contact list to Ubuntu one couch db. i got a lot of other errors during this copy process. some contacts already existed in Ubuntu one and i got hundreds on other errors message boxes and an associated dialouge to add or merge or cancel. this was very annoying as they all popped up together on the screen. you then had to click the other error message box before you could interact with the merge dialogue. this meant that i had to guess which of the 50 messages was the right one working through them one by one, lots of clicking. this was resolved by copying the exchange contact to my local machine and them adding them to ubuntu one which worked as expected. with the merge dialogues appearing as you would expect. ubuntu 9.10 evolution: Installed: 2.28.1-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 2.28.1-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 2.28.1-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com karmic-updates/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.28.1-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages evolution-exchange: Installed: 2.28.1-0ubuntu1 Candidate: 2.28.1-0ubuntu1 Version table: *** 2.28.1-0ubuntu1 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status evolution-couchdb: Installed: 0.3.2-0ubuntu2 Candidate: 0.3.2-0ubuntu2 Version table: *** 0.3.2-0ubuntu2 0 500 http://gb.archive.ubuntu.com karmic/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Apr 15 10:50:00 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/evolution NonfreeKernelModules: fglrx Package: evolution 2.28.1-0ubuntu2 ProcEnviron: SHELL=/bin/bash LANG=en_GB.UTF-8 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-20.58-generic SourcePackage: evolution Uname: Linux 2.6.31-20-generic x86_64 ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug evolution-couchdb evolution-exchange -- unable to copy exchage based contact direct to ubuntu one, other error and locked dialougs https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/563688 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 563719] [NEW] Ctrl+Left/Right in a right-to-left written language moves the curser incorrectly
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gedit When writing in a right-to-left written language, such as Hebrew, the left and right keys on their keyboard change their meaning: left moves to the next character, and right moves the cursor to the previous character. This works correctly in gedit. However, when using the Ctrl modifier, Ctrl-Left should move to the next word, and Ctrl-Right should move to the previous word. This currently doesn't work in gedit. Instead Ctrl-Left/Right works the same as in English. To test this in gedit you can copy the following Hebrew text into gedit: משפט קצר לנסיון. Put the cursor at the sentence beginning (which is the rightmost word. By using Home for example), and then press Ctrl-Left. Instead of moving to the next word (the middle one), the cursor just stays at the beginning. Now press Ctrl-Right. Instead of staying, the cursor moves to the next word. [Bug 563719] Re: Ctrl+Left/Right in a right-to-left written language moves the curser incorrectly
I've added gtk+2.0 to this bug, since I saw this problem also happens in many other GTK application (gwibber, empathy, Alt-F2 run dialog, tomboy, etc.) ** Also affects: gtk+2.0 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Ctrl+Left/Right in a right-to-left written language moves the curser incorrectly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/563719 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gedit in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Yes, you're right; gdk_pixbuf_* is only the functions generated the errors as you can see in the XsessionErrors.txt. [Bug 552932] Re: Location window option is missing from nautilus
I agree with the original reporter, this is a regression. I use this for copying file locations into scripts, etc. Very useful to have this. The icon which existed in previous versions to change between breadcrumbs to location bar, is now gone. Why? You can use CTRL+L to get it back, but this is temporary, and you have to know about it. The fix mentioned above using gconf-editor is not exactly user friendly (for any level of user! I have been using Ubuntu since 6.10 and don't want to have to use gconf-editor to get back this basic functionality). Please fix this. [Bug 563740] [NEW] BCC field often not filled out.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evolution I have set up two email accounts in Evolution, in both I have set it to always BCC myself. However, the BCC field is only filled out sometimes (approximately every second time I send an email). Ubuntu 10.04 Beta 2 with all updates to 15 April 2010. Can someone please tell me how to type or paste in smb://server/share or ftp://remoteserver or anything else into the breadcrumbs? [Bug 560665] Re: gnome-appearance-manager doesn't set font setting for whole system
I've done little research today and this problem is in all mainstream distributions, not only in Ubuntu. I apologize for that. Font settings made in Gnome are not respected by KDE/Qt apps and settings made in KDE are not respected by Gnome/GTK apps (but in this case it can be overriden by gtk-qt-engine). Result? In the year 2010 on Linux desktop a user can't have uniform look of fonts on his desktop (without ugly hacks). Nicely done. Can I offer this to an unexperienced user? I don't think so...
