[Bug 863154] Re: Wacom Bamboo One tablet random coordinate malfunctions
@cvargas-z compiz is a compositing manager that uses 3D graphics hardware to create good looking and fast compositing effects on your desktop. In the newer Ubuntu versions, it is primarily used by the Unity graphical shell. When using 11.10 without compiz, your system probably fell back to Unity-2D, which is a Qt/QML based version of the Unity shell. This is not really a bad thing. For better graphics cards, using Unity/compiz makes your shell (the windows, launchers etc.) have better effects and run faster, but the difference is not that big (I am personally using Unity-2D all the time). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gimp in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/863154 Title: Wacom Bamboo One tablet random coordinate malfunctions To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gimp/+bug/863154/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 857710] Re: File selection by typing is buggy sometimes
The Oneiric-proposed update partly patches the issue, but a number of issues that have been complained about still remain. The good: The search box no longer disappears after the second character is entered. The bad: The search box still remains (for 5 seconds) after hitting enter and entering the directory searched for. To reproduce this, go to home folder and type 'Doc', then hit enter to enter the Documents directory. The search box still remains for around 5 seconds. This is particularly annoying if you want to enter a string of directories, having to wait 5 seconds after entering each one, before being able to use typeahead. The ugly: How does one clear an error typed in the search box? The usual method was to use the backspace key, but this now takes us to the parent directory. Reproduce by going to home folder, typing 'Dox' and trying to correct the 'x' type by hitting backspace. The search box doesn't always clear its contents upon disappearing/reappearing. I haven't found a way to specifically reproduce this yet, but it's happening almost randomly (or so it would appear). The box has disappeared and, upon reappearing, there's sometimes the contents of the last search remaining in there - and you can't use backspace to clear it because of the above problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/857710 Title: File selection by typing is buggy sometimes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nautilus/+bug/857710/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 878060] [NEW] If I switch session from GNOME Fallback session to any Unity session, and switc back the session with GNOME Fallback session, some custom defined keybindings are deleted after log i
Public bug reported: Dear Developers, I generaly using Oneiric release with GNOME3 fallback session with Orca screen reader. Because some oldest general GNOME keybindings is not defined factory level, I defining following keystrokes: ALT+F1: Show panel main menu ALT+F2: Show the run dialog: SUPER+D: hide all windows, and switch desktop. I want desting an Unity a11y modified version from a developer request, so I changing session to Unity 3D session (ubuntu session). Because lightdm is not accessible yet with Orca screen reader, I edit /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf file, and putted following content the configuration file: [SeatDefaults] xserver-layout=hu autologin-guest=false autologin-user=hammera autologin-user-timeout=0 autologin-session=lightdm-autologin greeter-session=unity-greeter user-session=ubuntu After I restart my system, I doed the required test, and want switch back the GNOME3 fallback session, so I simple replace the user-session=ubuntu line with user-session=gnome-fallback line, and restart my system again. The surprise is happening after the login operation, my prewious defined custom keybindings is lost. I unable to present panel menu with ALT+F1 key combination, unable to present the run dialog with ALT+F2 key combination, and unable to go to the desktop with SUPER+D key combination. When I looked the defined keybindings in GNOME Control Center the keyboard preference tool /keybindings section, some keybindings are disabled again (present panel menu, present run dialog), and I think the hide all windows related keystroke is changed with CTRL+ALT+D keystroke. Sorry if I not translate right this items correct english name, I using the system with hungarian locale. Why happening this problem, and why owerwrited my custom keybinding settings after session change and session change back? Unity stores equals place the own keybindings and owerwrite my custom keystrokes? Reproducation steps, I always reproduced this issue: 1. If not installed, install gnome-session-fallback package after you enabled with universe and multiverse repositoryes. 2. Switch GNOME Fallback session after you logged out, log in the new session, and define the described keybindings. 3. Switch any unity session after log out, log in, and log out again the new session. 4. Switch back GNOME fallback session, and log in again. If you are reproduced this bug, your prewious defiled three keybindings is lost. I will be sending screen shot to startup keybindings preferences, and the new preferences after I doed this test again. [Bug 828623] Re: [Regression] gnome control centre does not allow you to disable the laptop screen while leaving an external DisplayPort connected screen working
Those figures are wrong . This is my issue: I log in and get dual display with laptop monitor at 1440x900 and external monitor on displayport at 1920x1080. Then I open the display settings and turn off the internal monitor and click Apply. Then both screen turn blank. For some reason there is no timeout so the screens remain blank forever. Hitting Ctrl+Alt+F1 and such does not change anything. I simply have to force poweroff. I'm able to successfully turn off the external monitor, though. When I turn off the external monitor, I do get the timeout dialog. Maybe the timeout dialog appears in the first case also, but I can't see it and it doesn't restore after the timeout. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-control-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/828623 Title: [Regression] gnome control centre does not allow you to disable the laptop screen while leaving an external DisplayPort connected screen working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-control-center/+bug/828623/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 864618] Re: sets $LANG to a language name
Martin, my plan was to fix the issues that that patch tries to solve in g-c-c 3.2.1 and then completely remove this patch from the package. I could just fix a couple, since the others seemed a bit risky for a SRU, so the patch from Gunnar fixes this bug really for Oneiric users. There shouldn't be any impact for stable users, since we are getting the list of languages from another place anyway, so commenting out that call doesn't really affect much. My plan is to completely remove this Ubuntu- specific patch for Precise and, if possible, in a late SRU for Oneiric. So, this should be safe, has been tested for a couple of weeks now. [Bug 820327] Re: Fn+F7 cycling gives external monitor incorrect resolution on Thinkpad x220
It would also be useful to capture the X calls that gnome-settings-daemon makes. You should be able to do this by installing the ‘xtrace’ package, and running killall gnome-settings-daemon xtrace -o ~/gnome-settings-daemon.xtrace /usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon/gnome-settings-daemon at a terminal. This should kill the existing daemon and then start a new one, capturing all the X calls it makes to ~/gnome-settings-daemon.xtrace. Then, cycle through the fn-f7 options again - both with the displays panel open, and without, so we get an example of both working and broken behaviour - and attach the ~/gnome-settings-daemon.xtrace file here. If this is too complicated, the gsd-debug-randr.log file Sebastian was asking for above might contain enough information to debug this problem, so don't worry if it's too much effort. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/820327 Title: Fn+F7 cycling gives external monitor incorrect resolution on Thinkpad x220 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-settings-daemon/+bug/820327/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 878086] [NEW] Empathy doesn't seem to use system proxy settings after upgrading to 11.10
Public bug reported: Upgrading to 11.10 from 11.04 has rendered Empathy unusuable for me since Empathy doesn't seem to use system proxy settings anymore, so connections to accounts fail. Other software like Chromium works correctly. I've double checked the proxy settings in System Settings - Network - Network proxy and also in dconf - system - proxy, and also in gconf-editor - system - proxy, and the everything seems correct. I also have the same problem with Pidgin and I've filed bug #878032 about it. ** Affects: empathy (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: 11.10 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/878086 Title: Empathy doesn't seem to use system proxy settings after upgrading to 11.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/878086/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
