Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at

tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a

[Bug 1164016] Re: restore type-ahead find

2013-04-11 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks Adam, it's something that annoys quite some people indeed. We are
not sure what to do at the moment, nautilus 3.6 is an user regression
compared to 3.4 on several fronts.

We are discussing adding back nautilus 3.4 as an option (and maybe make
it the default in Ubuntu) but it's an unmaintained software upstream and
it doesn't seem to be a good idea to suggest it to users if we are not
going to have the resources to fix issues with it...

Yeah. My vote is to stay with the current Nautilus (3.6 in Raring)
since it is maintained upstream, but to use patches or plugins to fix

[Bug 1075923] Re: nautilus hangs copying large directories from a samba share

2013-04-11 Thread Claudio
on my computer both systems still have this error:

- Mint 14 Nadia Cinnamon 64 with gvfs version 1.14.0-0ubuntu6
- Ubuntu 13.04 Raring 64 with gvfs version 1.16.0-1ubuntu4

I can easily reproduce this bug by connecting to a windows share in our network
and play a large (125MB)
mpeg video with any player e. g. vlc. See the output of ps after a few hangs of
vlc:

0 S 1000 2014 1 0 80 0 - 49533 poll_s ?00:00:00 gvfsd
0 S 1000 2018 1 0 80 0 - 250396 futex_ ? 00:00:00 gvfsd-fuse

0 S 1000 4249 1 0 80 0 - 373099 futex_ ? 00:00:00 vlc
0 S 1000 4488 1 0 80 0 - 233207 futex_ ? 00:00:00 vlc
0 S 1000 4667 1 0 80 0 - 373100 futex_ ? 00:00:00 vlc
0 S 1000 4917 1 0 80 0 - 233207 futex_ ? 00:00:00 vlc
0 S 1000 5025 1 0 80 0 - 233394 futex_ ? 00:00:00 vlc

gvfs and vlc processes hang with futex, some kind of blocking / locking.
vlc processes cant be killed, even with -9.

If I do the same by mounting the windows share with cifs, everything
works fine, no hangs:

sudo mount -t cifs //140.1.1.14/public ~/public -o
domain=WINDOWSDOMAINNAME,user=WINDOWSUSER,pass=WINDOWSPASSWORD

You've wandered far off.

Both Mir and Wayland have a completely different input architecture -
they simply don't have this problem from the very beginning.

2013-04-11 Thread bwat47
@Jakub, same problem here, can't add am AIM account at all, waiting does
not work. It just sits there indefinitely and the part to enter the
username/password never appears. Seems to happen with all the non
browser based plugins. And in the rare event it does appear and let me
add the account, upon a reboot the account stops working again, and when
you try to remove/re-add it it doesn't appear again.

[Bug 1168056] [NEW] Gimp does not pick up plugins from configured plugin path

2013-04-11 Thread Vinay Sajip
Public bug reported:

The plug-ins path (Edit | Preferences, Folders | Plug-Ins) has two
entries:

/home/user/.gimp-2.6/plug-ins
/usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins

However, nothing in the first entry is picked up. For example, running
Filters | Python-Fu | Console:

GIMP 2.6.12 Python Console
Python 2.7.3 (default, Aug 1 2012, 05:14:39)
[GCC 4.6.3]
 import sys
 sys.path
['/usr/lib/gimp/2.0/plug-ins', '/usr/lib/gimp/2.0/python',
'/usr/lib/python2.7', '/usr/lib/python2.7/plat-linux2',

'/usr/lib/python2.7/lib-dynload', '/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages',
'/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages', '/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/PIL',

'/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/ubuntuone-installer',
'/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/ubuntuone-storage-protocol']

Only the /usr/lib/gimp/... location appears to be used, whih means I

contrary to expectations.

[Bug 1168075] [NEW] totem crashed with signal 5 in cogl_display_setup()

2013-04-11 Thread Manish-Raj
Public bug reported:

Totem is not at all working on my system. It simply crashes out. VLC is
fine. When I tried to run from terminal it gave following output :-

manish@SR1931IL:~$ totem

(totem:4676): Gdk-ERROR **: The program 'totem' received an X Window System
error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'GLXBadContext'.
  (Details: serial 159 error_code 169 request_code 153 minor_code 6)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the GDK_SYNCHRONIZE environment
variable to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
Trace/breakpoint trap (core dumped)

/etc/hostname. However /etc/hosts/ is not updated.

  The hostnamed documentation at

[Bug 1166928] Re: broken sound menu controls

2013-04-11 Thread Vishnu Babykumar
The capable players do list themselves fine on the sound menu in ubuntu
13.04 and clicking on the entry opens up the respective player but sadly
play/pause, previous and next controls don't work as they should.Worth
mentioning however that the sound menu picks up the current play status
i.e, if media is being played, then Play changes to Pause vice-versa.
Clicking the controls however don't work in neither VLC/RHYTHMBOX/TOTEM.
