2024-05-02 Thread lotuspsychje
Probably related to my hexchat & gimp bug;
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/hexchat/+bug/2061132

I can reproduce it with hexchat, gimp, spotify, teams-for-linux on
wayland ubuntu desktop 24.04

When maximizing the windows, there seem to be a freeze of the window too

[Bug 2064510] Re: File manager hang up

2024-05-02 Thread Casio
Hi,
Sorry, although a technical expert my specific Linux knowledge is pretty rusty
as I've only just moved to using it full time on a desktop from Windows 11.
Once that error message appeared on screen I couldn't get rid of it, nor the
filemanager window that caused it. The launcher in the bottom right corner of
the screen worked and so did the bottom left filemanager icon because I
launched a 2nd new filemanager window but that too was non functional
immediately and unable to close as well. At that point I had to crash power
down the laptop as there wasn't much else I could do as even the power off
option in the top right corner of the screen didn't power off the system.
I could physically feel both USB hard drives heads were flapping away but that
may have been normal idle operation, or it may have been the rsync still trying
to copy files across (but since filemanager was stuffed I wasn't sure if it was
causing file system problems or not (hence the decision to crash power down
anyway). I don't know what journalctl is so i'll do a bit of reading up on that
next.

[Bug 2064169] Re: Keyboard shortcuts

2024-05-02 Thread Tomaz Henrique
Apparently everything is ok in the file. However, as you can see in the video I
posted on YouTube, when accessing after restarting the computer, or even after
a few minutes of use, these keys become disconfigured. In the video, the keys
that I had previously configured appear normal, but when physically clicking on
the shortcuts, they do not work as expected. When you reconfigure again, you
notice that it works. After minutes or hours, or even restarting the computer,
it stops working again.

2024-05-02 Thread Daniel Elbirt

My locale is lt_LT.UTF-8, which is relevant.

This is caused by a mistaken translation of the quote characters in
"'24h'" which is used as the default value for a particular gsettings
key. Specifically, this translation:
https://translations.launchpad.net/ubuntu/noble/+source/gsettings-
desktop-schemas/+pots/gsettings-desktop-schemas/lt/232/+translate.

Since I'm a member of the Lithuanian translators team, I've fixed the
translation error in translations.launchpad.net, but my gnome-shell will
continue to spam multiple errors every second until an updated language-
pack-gnome-lt-base is released.

(I've also submitted a fixed translation upstream to l10n.gnome.org.)

Workaround: run dconf-editor, find /org/gnome/desktop/interface/clock-
format, uncheck Use default value, click Apply.

[Bug 2064147] Re: Unable to browse My Files using OneDrive integration

2024-05-02 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

If the previous step failed then look at
https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file
/var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to
recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.

[Bug 2064568] Re: can't set picture as desktop wallpaper in nautilus

2024-05-02 Thread Erald Bardhi
I submitted another bug about nautilus, that also affects other system apps
like the snap store, settings and text editor, about the apps not adhering to
the dark theme when opened. I've noticed this only happens when I open those
apps almost straight away after I've booted into the desktop, when I wait a
couple of minutes after boot before opening the apps, they are displayed in
dark mode as expected. The 'Set as Wallpaper...' bug only occurs when I open
nautilus after boot and it's displayed in light mode. My system theme is 'Dark
Style'.
There's no errors when I open nautilus from the terminal. Here's the output:

** Message: 12:01:54.577: Connecting to
org.freedesktop.Tracker3.Miner.Files

I'm using the nvidia driver 535.171.04 and X11.

2024-05-02 Thread Sebastien Bacher
I've reported the error upstream
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/issues/3042

It's a bit unclear if the bug is in the setting of the backend though,
if you get a working system again would you mean trying to do

$ nmcli connection import type wireguard file
AirVPN_Canada_UDP-1637-Entry3.conf

and see if that works?

[Bug 2064559] [NEW] Screen clicks not working when app page maximised

2024-05-02 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Recently completed a fresh installation of Ubuntu 24.4

When apps are maximised to use full screen, clicks on buttons do not
work and instead go through to whatever is behind the app. Restoring
the app to a window rather than full screen clicks work normally.

This happens for a number of apps but not all.

I am using 2 monitors (join) and using monitor 2 as my primary display.

Happy to provide more info, but not sure what will be helpful.

[Bug 2064510] [NEW] File manager hang up

2024-05-02 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I was doing a large backup of files from an SSD drive to a external USB drive
using rsync running in a terminal window.
I then opened up a new file manager window and then (i think) I clicked on the
same SSD drive (that was being copied) to get its properties (I wanted to see
how much disk space was used up).

I then got a dialog popup on the screen (I have a screenshot of this
attached) saying the following

"There was an error while getting the sharing information"
Failed to execute child process "net" (No such file or directory)

At this point all the file manager windows were unresponsive. They could
not be closed, but I think they could be moved and they could come to
foreground etc.

In the end I had to crash power off my laptop. I took me 4 hours to
chkdsk\recover file systems on both my external USB hard drives and the
SSD as well (done using Win10 because they were all NTFS drives).

Also as an aside (this is probably another bug)... every so often a file
manager window will freeze on its righthand side. You can click on
various drives on the lefthand side but it never updates the righthand
side to show the file\folders on that clicked drive. I end up closing
the filemanager window and opening up a new one.
