[Desktop-packages] [Bug 1681269] Re: Launcher Type=link, can not be opened with other application
OK, I had to go back and think about this for a moment since I am no longer on 17.04. I have tested this issue on both Ubuntu as well as Ubuntu Bodgie, both on 18.04 and the same thing is happening with Nautilus as the default. To duplicate the issue, take the desktop file below, save it to the desktop as calendar.desktop. Then, right click on the file. You should be able to open it with gedit. However, if it loads, gedit is empty or contains the last buffer from the previous file edited. You can't set permissions on the desktop file with a right click e.g. set it executable. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1681269 Title: Launcher Type=link, can not be opened with other application Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: If you right click on a desktop launcher and select an application to launch it e.g. Text Editor, some launchers do not populate the application.
