Fedora Linux 39 Final is NO-GO

[Test-Announce] Please help complete validation testing for current Fedora 39 candidate nightly!
Hey folks! You probably saw the mail "Fedora 39 Branched 20231010.n.0 nightly compose nominated for testing" today. Although we still don't have an RC for the Fedora 39 Final release, I want to ask folks to please help us fill out the matrices for this candidate as much as possible. It's best if we find any remaining blocker bugs *now*, not wait for an RC before doing the full testing. You can use testcase_stats to see what test cases probably need running - https://openqa.fedoraproject.org/testcase_stats/39/ . The pages there shows the execution history and last run date for each test on the corresponding matrix page, so you can see at a glance which tests haven't been run recently or at all. Please focus on tests marked Basic, Beta or Final that have not yet been run, or not been run for some time. And of course, if you find a significant bug, mark the test as a failure, file a bug, and nominate it as a release blocker. Did you include the `-t` arg for the generator? `%pyproject_buildrequires -t`? If so, it'll be pulling these dependencies from tox.ini, which pulls them from https://github.com/pinterest/pymemcache/blob/master/test-requirements.txt , which pins very specific versions. If you *want* to auto-generate these requirements, your only options are to get upstream to loosen the version specifiers, or patch the requirements file in %prep before the build requirement generator runs (I think that ordering is possible). Alternatively of course you can omit `-t` so the dependency generator won't work out the requirements from tox.ini , but then you can't run the tests during %check unless you specify the requirements manually... -- Adam Williamson (he/him/his) Fedora QA Fedora Chat: @adamwill:fedora.im | Mastodon: @ad...@fosstodon.org https://www.happyassassin.net ___ devel mailing list -- devel@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to devel-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org Do not reply to spam, report it: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/new_issue
Re: Python enable dependency generator problem
It looks like you are using “%pyproject_buildrequires -t”, and upstream’s tox.ini gets its dependencies from the file test-requirements.txt, which pins exact versions of everything (==). Obviously, it’s very rare that this will line up with the versions packaged in Fedora. If you’re going to use that file, you’ll need to patch it in %prep to remove the version pins, or at least convert them to lower bounds (s/==/>=) if that seems appropriate. You should also patch out the dependency on pytest-cov (https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/packaging-guidelines/Python/#_linters). If that all gets too messy, a less satisfying but more straightforward alternative would be to eschew tox, maintain the list of BR’s for the tests manually in the spec file the old-fashioned way, and run the tests with %pytest instead of %tox. kdump enabled in F39
Hi folks, I'm having some difficulty tracking down why it's being enabled on Fedora 39 but not on Fedora 38. On both Fedora 38 and 39, /etc/kdump.conf contains auto_reset_crashkernel yes However, I've never seen the reported behavior until Fedora 39. While the crashkernel parameter is being set on the kernel command line, the kdump.service unit is disabled. I don't know how these things interact, so I don't know how big a deal the issue is. Maybe it's just wasted space on the kernel command line? In any case, eventually it will clutter up the command line for everyone once they update their kernel because this parameter will be added. And I don't know how we fix it with an update because it means stepping on everyone's /etc/kdump.conf - without a way of knowing if they want this or some other setting applied. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2243068 Thanks, -- Chris Murphy ___ devel mailing list -- devel@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to devel-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org Do not reply to spam, report it: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/new_issue

Making -Wmissing-include-dirs an error?
Hey all, Recently, one of the folks working on packaging stuff in Fedora KDE nearly missed an issue caused by GCC emitting a warning about missing include dirs: > cc1plus: warning: /usr/include/qt6/QtCore/6.5.3: No such file or directory > [-Wmissing-include-dirs] > cc1plus: warning: /usr/include/qt6/QtCore/6.5.3/QtCore: No such file or > directory [-Wmissing-include-dirs] I did manage to figure out this meant we needed an additional build dependency (qt6-qtbase-private-devel, FYI), but it made me think if there's a reason this shouldn't be an error. If it's an error, then at least we can evaluate these things and ensure we have the right build inputs... Re: Review plea - x2gokdrive
Thanks Orion, I'll take these. Sorry for the delay, but I could not commit earlier due to lack of time. I don't need any review on my side so that's no problem. If anyone wants to help out on any of my packages, that would be great. I'm led to believe by https://pagure.io/pagure/blob/master/f/doc/usage/tips_tricks.rst that this[1] should show the packages that I am the primary maintainer on, but it doesn't seem to be working. 1 - https://src.fedoraproject.org/user/orion?acl=main%20admin Thanks. ___ devel mailing list -- devel@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to devel-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org Do not reply to spam, report it: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/new_issue ___ devel mailing list -- devel@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe send an email to devel-le...@lists.fedoraproject.org Fedora Code of Conduct: https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/project/code-of-conduct/ List Guidelines: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines List Archives: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/devel@lists.fedoraproject.org Do not reply to spam, report it: https://pagure.io/fedora-infrastructure/new_issue
