[EPEL-devel] Are we sticking with exa or moving to eza in EPEL?

2023-10-10 Thread Ian Laurie

I realize exa is still in the EPEL9 repos, was wondering if there is an
intention to move to its replacement eza as was done in F39 and F40?

[Test-Announce] Please help complete validation testing for current Fedora 39 candidate nightly!

2023-10-10 Thread Adam Williamson
Hey folks! You probably saw the mail "Fedora 39 Branched 20231010.n.0
nightly compose nominated for testing" today. Although we still don't
have an RC for the Fedora 39 Final release, I want to ask folks to
please help us fill out the matrices for this candidate as much as
possible. It's best if we find any remaining blocker bugs *now*, not
wait for an RC before doing the full testing.

You can use testcase_stats to see what test cases probably need running
- https://openqa.fedoraproject.org/testcase_stats/39/ . The pages there
shows the execution history and last run date for each test on the
corresponding matrix page, so you can see at a glance which tests
haven't been run recently or at all. Please focus on tests marked
Basic, Beta or Final that have not yet been run, or not been run for
some time. And of course, if you find a significant bug, mark the test
as a failure, file a bug, and nominate it as a release blocker.

Thanks a lot folks!

Not only it is possible, but it *is* the order in which the build will always
run (%prep before %generate_buildrequires) regardless of the order in the
specfile. Putting it in any other order in the specfile is possible but confusing.

Did you include the `-t` arg for the generator?
`%pyproject_buildrequires -t`?

If so, it'll be pulling these dependencies from tox.ini, which pulls
them from
https://github.com/pinterest/pymemcache/blob/master/test-requirements.txt
, which pins very specific versions.

If you *want* to auto-generate these requirements, your only options
are to get upstream to loosen the version specifiers, or patch the
requirements file in %prep before the build requirement generator runs
(I think that ordering is possible).

Alternatively of course you can omit `-t` so the dependency generator
won't work out the requirements from tox.ini , but then you can't run
the tests during %check unless you specify the requirements manually...

Re: Python enable dependency generator problem

2023-10-10 Thread Ben Beasley
It looks like you are using “%pyproject_buildrequires -t”, and upstream’s
tox.ini gets its dependencies from the file test-requirements.txt, which pins
exact versions of everything (==). Obviously, it’s very rare that this will
line up with the versions packaged in Fedora. If you’re going to use that file,
you’ll need to patch it in %prep to remove the version pins, or at least
convert them to lower bounds (s/==/>=) if that seems appropriate. You should
also patch out the dependency on pytest-cov
(https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/packaging-guidelines/Python/#_linters).

If that all gets too messy, a less satisfying but more straightforward
alternative would be to eschew tox, maintain the list of BR’s for the tests
manually in the spec file the old-fashioned way, and run the tests with %pytest
instead of %tox.

Detailed follow-up in the bug report, but for anyone following along
here, I think this was caused by changes to the set of scripts in
kexec-tools between F38 and F39 which have the effect that a
crashkernel= arg will almost always get added whenever a kernel is
installed, or kexec-tools is updated. Previously that was not the case.

Python enable dependency generator problem

2023-10-10 Thread Priscila Gutierres
Hello,

I'm trying to add python enable dependency generator on python-pymemcache,
but when adding it to the specfile, it asks for some old version of some
needed packages:
https://paste.centos.org/view/33623ed7

Fedora repos have a more updated version, but this dependency generator is
asking for an older version of those packages:

https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-faker
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-gevent
https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/python-pylibmc

How to fix this?

kdump enabled in F39

2023-10-10 Thread Chris Murphy
Hi folks,

I'm having some difficulty tracking down why it's being enabled on Fedora 39
but not on Fedora 38.

On both Fedora 38 and 39, /etc/kdump.conf contains

auto_reset_crashkernel yes

However, I've never seen the reported behavior until Fedora 39.

While the crashkernel parameter is being set on the kernel command line, the
kdump.service unit is disabled. I don't know how these things interact, so I
don't know how big a deal the issue is. Maybe it's just wasted space on the
kernel command line?

In any case, eventually it will clutter up the command line for everyone once
they update their kernel because this parameter will be added. And I don't know
how we fix it with an update because it means stepping on everyone's
/etc/kdump.conf - without a way of knowing if they want this or some other
setting applied.

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2243068

Thanks,

I don't know if it did or didn't. For all I know, it could have led to
a miscompilation. It was fixed before we landed it as it was caught
while working on packaging.

Missing an include directory isn't necessarily the problem though, it is
the missing headers that aren't present when they are included that would
be - and that should trigger a build error for the missing file. What
advantage does failing on this warning provide that the failure on the
include file missing doesn't?

Was there a subsequent build failure due to the missing headers? Could
you share a link to the full build log?

Making -Wmissing-include-dirs an error?

2023-10-10 Thread Neal Gompa
Hey all,

Recently, one of the folks working on packaging stuff in Fedora KDE
nearly missed an issue caused by GCC emitting a warning about missing
include dirs:

> cc1plus: warning: /usr/include/qt6/QtCore/6.5.3: No such file or directory
> [-Wmissing-include-dirs]
> cc1plus: warning: /usr/include/qt6/QtCore/6.5.3/QtCore: No such file or
> directory [-Wmissing-include-dirs]

I did manage to figure out this meant we needed an additional build
dependency (qt6-qtbase-private-devel, FYI), but it made me think if
there's a reason this shouldn't be an error.

If it's an error, then at least we can evaluate these things and
ensure we have the right build inputs...

What do y'all think?

Re: Review plea - x2gokdrive

2023-10-10 Thread Jos de Kloe

Thanks Orion, I'll take these.
Sorry for the delay, but I could not commit earlier due to lack of time.

I don't need any review on my side so that's no problem.

Could someone (perhaps someone interested in X2Go) please review:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2215421

I'd love to be able to offer a review swap, but I'm completely underwater.

If anyone wants to help out on any of my packages, that would be great.

I'm led to believe by
https://pagure.io/pagure/blob/master/f/doc/usage/tips_tricks.rst that this[1]
should show the packages that I am the primary maintainer on, but it doesn't
seem to be working.

Thanks.
