[digitalradio] Digitalradio: Facebook change.

2010-05-28 Thread Andy obrien
This Yahoo group has had a Facebook presence for a year or so in the
form of a Facebook group. No one really uses it, probably because
using the Yahoo group is easier. However, despite some of the privacy
issues that have been well publicized recently, the overall simplicity
of Facebook is rather appealing and it is very useful for a quick
check of who is doing what, and where. The Facebook groups do not seem
to be as useful because you have to drill down an extra layer or two.
You have to make more of a conscious effort to actually look for the
group's content, it does not seem to be quickly available when
glancing at your own Facebook page.

So, I am playing around with a Facebook page for digitalradio rather
than a group. My early experiments suggest that the Page does show
up in one's own Facebook page (if you want) , allowing an easier quick
glance. Please consider become a fan (Facebook terminology) and
testing it out. I'm not fully sure how to link to it, but
http://www.facebook.com/pages/digitalradio/123270301037522 seems to
work.

Hi Andy

Good luck with your experimentation, but there's no way I'll sign up to
Facebook :-)

Andy,

I rarely check my Facebook page (no teenagers here!) and only signed up
with Facebook, at your request, but I'll give it a try.

When I go to the page, I don't see where to write on the Wall, or how
to become a fan. What am I missing?

Re: [digitalradio] Digitalradio: Facebook change. [a word about facebook]

No can do.

facebook is one of those sites that read write
and otherwise do things that most don't like to have done
to their system. It would take me the better part of 1/2 hour
to get past the site is reading or writing or trying whatever.
Just to get to it.

And I think I have told you in the past that any mail from a web based
(yahoo, g-mail, hotmail) is deleted from the sever without me even seeing
it.

Sorry to say that facebook is on the top of the list that like to do just that.
Do they really need to know who is in my address book? Or what sites
I have been on?

If there is something that you feel that I really need to know you better
post it on the list.
