That's good to hear. I have had only a couple of ALE-400 QSOs but both were very pleasant. I would be participating in this weekend's activity except I'm away from home. Do you have any feel for how robust ALE-400 is versus some of the other modes? Of course it's error-free because of the ARQ, but does it need a better signal than, say, Olivia to get through? Re: [digitalradio] Re: ALE 400 coming out of the woodwork
my subjective view , Jim, is that it is almost as robust as Olivia under common weak signal conditions. Andy K3UK On Sat, May 15, 2010 at 12:36 PM, jhhay...@earthlink.net wrote: That's good to hear. Hello Jim, but does it need a better signal than, say, Olivia to get through? The minimum S/N is around -12 dB. It is comparable to the minimum S/N for Olivia 32-1000 or Olivia 8-500. However, below -11 dB, repetitions begin. 73 Patrick - Original Message - From: jhhay...@earthlink.net To: digitalradio@yahoogroups.com Sent: Saturday, May 15, 2010 6:36 PM Subject: [digitalradio] Re: ALE 400 coming out of the woodwork That's good to hear.
