3803 kHz, 9PM ET Sunday (0200Z Monday).

Thanks to the following check ins (w) and relays (rel):

   Call State Radio/AmpName

16 KA0RTM MNTS-590SG/KPA1500 Mike (w)
17 WA1NSE MAK4D Jerry (w)

We had a total of 17 check ins this week (including the NCS). Thanks to
all the relays this week that helped to pull in signals that I couldn't
hear clearly. Also I was having antenna issues, and had to run barefoot
(100W) so the relays were again very helpful to allow some stations to
hear me. Very nice hearing from everyone tonight. I hope to see all of
you again. The net concluded at 10:00 PM ET.

I'd like to call out VP2MDX, Thaire, from Montserrat, as quite possibly
our first DX check in to the 80M Elecraft SSB Net. I hope to hear more
far-flung stations check in, if possible.

We have a really great group of folks checking in, and I encourage
anyone in the Midwest and adjoining areas to try to check in next week.

As a reminder, if you go to https://netlogger.org at the net starting
time and look for the 80M Elecraft SSB Net, you should see the frequency
we are using that evening, if we must QSY again due to busy frequencies.

[Elecraft] K2 - Transmit limits

2024-03-04 Thread JCG

Searching the net I found this old link
https://www.qsl.net/ve3mcf/elecraft_reflect/K2_TX_Lock_Enquiry.txt
Well the K2 is still licenced in Thailand and obviously Elecraft is probably
still selling the necessary firmware.

[Elecraft] Happy 15th Birthday to my K2!

2024-03-04 Thread Petr Ourednik
Big congrats and I wish you many another DX and enjoyable QSOs with your K2.
My K2 #4800 is working like champ, and it is hard to beat. Just my K1 can
outperform K2 regarding the noise figure, hi.
I hope that K2 will be still available and I really miss the K1 in the offer.
The popularity of K1 is evidenced by the huge price it still commands if a
piece appears at auction or for sale somewhere.

Best regards,

[Elecraft] Looking for a K2

2024-03-04 Thread Joel Black
Mmm… I might be in the market for a K2. It seems I’ve seen a couple come across
here over the past two or three months. At the time, I wasn’t really interested
- one may have even still been in kit-form. I’m not sure if I have time to
tackle a kit or not but I might still be persuaded. My skills were never great
and, as I’ve gotten older, I’m sure they’ve not gotten better. ;)

It would be used mostly as a CW rig to complement my IC-7300 which pulls duty
on the data modes.

While I like QRP, if the price is right, I would not shun one with the 100 W
amp.

Having hauled PRC-77s and PRC-104s all over the place in another lifetime, I
really have no desire to put another radio in a backpack so I am just not
really interested in one of the KXx radios (I’ve had one of each and they’re
superb but I just don’t think I’d use them for their “intended" purpose).

If you have something you think I might be interested in, please just email me
privately. If the email doesn’t show up in this, my email on QRZ.com
is a good email for me.

Regards,
Joel - W4JBB

Re: [Elecraft] Happy 15th Birthday to my K2!

2024-03-04 Thread Robert Strickland via Elecraft
Good for you! Finished mine, #5957, in spring of 2007 with the 100w amp,
SSb, NL, and DSP modules. Wouldn't part with  it for just about
anything. IMHO, one of the great radios that has emerged from the hobby
since the beginning. Also, join wholeheartedly in offering thanks to
Don, W2FPR, who provided me and many others with a technical and service
foundation for the radio from the beginning.

Congrats. I built mine in 2004. It is a 10 watt version with 160, ATU,
and serial port. It is a good one. I have the KX3 and the K3S. I believe
the audio from the K2 is easier on the ears than either of the other two.

Completed 15 years ago TODAY! The most fun building experience of my
life, and still a great radio. Special thanks to Don, W3FPR, who
