Hi,

Can you supply a small network diagram with the IPs in it.

I think you have messed the source and the target in the access list but I
want to be sure.

Hi all,

Found one solution.

stop the service
Delete the services-db folder in the c:\program files\enterasys

start the service

Not me I'm afraid Hugo, but if you end up having to, you can reinstall
RASM, you can pull the config back from the RBT unit into RASM.

Re: [enterasys] B3 Routing between VLANs

2012-05-23 Thread Hugo Veiga
Hi,

Let’s say for example that you have a enterasys core, this will work with
any other equipment that is L3 capable.

And this is the logical topology:

Enterasys Core “fe.1.1” --300 mile (untagged
frames)--“fe.1.1” B3

Let’s say that you have the IP's 192.168.0.0/16 in the B3

You should do P2P routing between your core and the B3.

So in the core you create a vlan 1000 and put it untagged in the port that
connects to the operator.

In the core:

Set port vlan fe.1.1 1000 modify-egress

interface vlan 1000

ip address 10.0.0.1 255.255.255.248

no shutdown

Create a route like this:

Route 192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0 10.0.0.2

In the B3:

Set port vlan fe.1.1 1000 modify-egress

Create the same vlan:

Interface vlan 1000

Ip address 10.0.0.2 255.255.255.248

No shutdown

Create a route like this:

Route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 10.0.0.1

Create all the other vlans you want in the B3 and create the interface vlan
for them, the gateway for the computers.

This should do the trick.

Best regards,

Hugo Veiga

 Hi,

I have not used a B3... but usually, you go into router mode, configure
vlan interfaces, assign them IPs, don't forget no shutdown, etc.

Or what are the specific problems that you are expecting with your setup?

[enterasys] Goodies

2011-11-30 Thread Hugo Veiga
Hi,

I've made a flex view that tells how long a port is up or down (days,
hour, minutes and seconds).

We use this to identify ports with our users just by telling them to
connect or disconnect the cable.

It also identifies how many times a port changed from forward state.

I believe its a nice tool and that can be pretty useful to others.

If you have any doubt just ring the bell.

For last, if you are making flex views can you share with others?

RE:[enterasys] COS for Cisco Phones

2011-07-20 Thread Hugo Veiga
Hi,

I have a very large implementation of cisco phones with Enterasys Networks. You
don't have to configure nothing because the phone itself already configures the
QoS that is needed and the Enterasys Equipment's respect that.

You only have to set the vlan tagged to the phone that's it. If you are also
connecting a computer in the phone then the vlan for the computer must be
untagged.

If you want to automatize the vlans to the phone you can also configure ciscoDP
in your switches.

You should never configure nothing in cos 7 because that is used for broadcast,
spantree and other protocols needed by your network.

Hugo Veiga

really sure how to set it up through the console. Can someone give me a clue.
Keep getting erros with the set cos commands so I must be missing something.
The phoens will all be in their own vlan so I'll have to egress the phone vlan
on all the ports, but I'm not sure what will need to be done to set the COS to
7. I don't really want to set upa policy as I've still got some other issues
in this network I need to fix and policy manager could really screw it up right
now. Any pointers would be appreciated.

stopped and the servers work fine as before. I advise you to try the same.

What was the issue that caused you to re-think your routing strategy?

And what budget constraint implies that you must use static routes as
opposed to a dynamic routing policy?

 Hi all,

We have a 99% Enterasys network. At our core we are replacing
our dfe blades with an S4. Three years ago, I move all of the routing
from the edge devices (E1's) to the core. Everything had run fine until
an issue occurred recently. Now the thought process has been to move
the routing back out to the edge devices using static routes. I am
looking for external advise on the pros and cons of making this change.
We have 40+ subnets/vlans. The remote buildings will have a G3 at the
entrance with 2 - 3 E1's stacked behind. At some point in time, we have
had up to 13K devices connect to our network.

 Thanks,

 Sean

How can I export the topology maps?

If not where is the file(s) so I can copy them from one machine to the

L2 switches will have vlan configured in it. The L3 switches will be used for Vlan routing. The links between L3 and L2 switches will be trunks. So how will
I define a port as trunk port???

Tell us exactly what you need.

All the vlans, the ip address for all of them and also the uplink ports for the L3 and the L2.

Also send witch vlans you need in the access ports of the L2.

Me or someone else will send you a complete config.

Hi,

On the L2 you simply have to modify the egress list as stated below.
If you create for example two VLANs on the L2, you just have to include the uplink port in the VLAN egress list.
I will copy Christians example:

# create first vlan with id 2
set vlan create 2

# create second vlan with id 3
set vlan create 3

# Now tell both VLANs to send their packets over the trunk port:
# include the uplink port in the egress list of vlan id 2
set vlan egress 2 ge.1.1 tagged
# include the uplink port in the egress list of vlan id 3
set vlan egress 3 ge.1.1 tagged

That’s it!
A 802.1q VLAN trunk port means only that you have multiple VLANs going over the same wire.

In the default configuration, the L3 will accept all incoming VLAN tagged packets, coming over the trunk. Just don’t
enable ingress filtering on the uplink port on the L3.

Take care
Tom

Hello,

Appreciate your quick response. But still it’s not so clear. Cause Cisco concepts are not getting out of my mind. Oh God please help…J…..

Suppose
ge.1.1 is the L2 switch port which is connected to L3 switch. And I want all traffic from different vlan configured on that
L2 switch will reach the L3 switch through the same ge.1.1 port and vlan routing will take place..

What should be the configuration in L2 and L3 switch

Hi,

You don't need to define a port as trunk port, you only have to put the port in the egress table for thevlans you need.

For example,

set vlan create 2
set vlan create 3
set vlan egress 2 ge.1.1
set vlan egress 3 ge.1.1

With this configuration you are sending frames from vlans 2 and 3 through this port.

You can check itusing show port egress ge.1.1

You can implement more options, but this is the basic configuration.

Re: [enterasys] routing on G3

2009-04-14 Thread Hugo Veiga

Hi,

You can have has many secondary interfaces has you need.

I defined the first host has the gateway for that network.

Just do this:

router

enable

config

interface vlan 1

 ip address 192.168.11.1 255.255.255.0

 ip address 192.168.240.1 255.255.252.0 secondary

 ip address 192.168.12.1 255.255.255.0 secondary

exit

Hi,

Thanks.
I already did this and it looks like working, but what if I need to define one new subnet in LAN, for ex. 192.168.12.0/24? I should put it in VLAN 1, because it’s the same traffic as both others, but
I can define there only two IP interfaces?
In my situation I have eight subnets in LAN which traffic is not tagged (VLAN 1), does that means that I can route not tagged only two subnets?

If I correctly understand what you’ve said, can’t you 1.) Make 168.11 a primary and 168.240 a secondary on int vlan 1. Then just define 168.15 on int vlan 10. Since all three subnets will be on locally
defined interfaces the G will know how to route between them.

Subject: [enterasys] routing on G3

Hello,

Can anyone help with the routing on G3? Here is my situation:
I have three subnets in LAN:

1) for data 192.168.11.0/24 and 192.168.240.0/22 with no tagged default vlan 1;
2) voice 192.168.15.0/24 tagged with vlan 10.
I need to route them through G3. All of those subnets are coming in to G3 through uplinks or are directly connected to G3. I can't specify exact ports through which each subnet will reach G3, on uplink ports there are all subnets, on directly connected ports
(ge) there can be voice or data.
How to make routing between these subnets?
The main problem is that I need “one armed” routing (routing between two subnets that reside on the same VLAN interface or physical port)) and there isn’t much in manuals about it. In my situation
I need routing between three subnets (two not tagged VLAN 1 and one tagged VLAN 10) that resides on same physical port.

Thanks in advance,
