Any sign of Red Hat changing their ways? Or are they
just sick and tired of 32 bit?

i686 is dead - there is no RHEL7 for i686 at all

the last non x86_64 i faced was 5 years ago and frankly the whole linux
stack would be much more tiny without the old code and could be
optimized for mordern and relevant CPU's

Do you have any special method on how to run Wine 32?

i don't have a real need for wine and if there is something which needs
windows on recent hardware it's no problem to setup a virtual machine

I have the same troubles with CentOS 5 and 6 and EPEL 5 and 6 !

I noticed today I cannot yum install any packages from epel 7.

I see lots of errors like:

[Errno 14] HTTP Error 404 - Not Found

[Errno 14] HTTP Error 404 - Not Found

Is there a problem with epel 7 and all the mirrors? Or could this be a
local problem.

This started after I ran

yum clean all

it's a repeating problem with the Fedora infrastructure and by far only
hits EPEL, somtimes YUM resloves deps, downloads 3 pckages, a 404,
pretends it tries another mirror and stops

repeating yum upgrade will download the next package, stops again,
repeat it often enough and the updates suceeds
