Sullivan III To: evolution-list@gnome.org Subject: [Evolution] Problem with IMAP subscriptions Date: Tue, 21 Jun 2022 14:43:21 -0400 Hello, all. I'm having a nightmare of a time with IMAP subscriptions. I have used Evolution for many, many years. Two years ago, I added an IMAP account from Tigertech.net and was surprised to see all my IMAP subfolders show up under my Inbox (contrary to the Evolution instructions). However, it worked fine. Yesterday, I added a second account and moved those subfolders to the new account. All appears fine on the back end. If I use the Tigertech.net web mail, the folders are in the new account and at the same level as the Inbox and they are no longer under the old account. However, now both of those accounts in Evolution initially show subfolders but then they all disappear from the view. When I try to manage subscriptions, they all appear under the Inbox rather than peer to it. I've tried moving them to a peer level for the few moments they appear and, it first displays them as peers but then they disappear. Manage subscriptions still shows them under the Inbox. I can get them to briefly re-appear by disabling and re-enabling the account but then they disappear and the focus jumps to the Junk folder. I can see Evolution synchronizing the folders. I ran Evolution from the command line but saw no errors. I have restarted Evolution Killed all processes and restart Evolution Rebooted Uninstalled and Purged Evolution Uninstalled, Purged, and deleted all hidden folders for Evolution No matter what I do, the folders show up under the Inbox in the Manage Subscriptions dialog and they disappear from the view. I very reluctantly tried KMail and it behaves as expected. Most of the subfolders contain email but one subfolder contains other folders which contain email (and one more nesting in one case). How do I get these subscribed subfolders to again appear in Evolution? I would choose that yours. It also depends in which folder you reply/create new mail, the account is derived from it. Thus if you manage your mails in folders under the H@... account, then that account is used. The Send Account Override (Edit->Preferences->Composer Preferences-> Sent Account) can be used for folders too. Or simply right-click the folder and pick Properties from it, then select what account should be used in this folder. [Evolution] Wrong send account being used by Evolution
3.44.1-0ubuntu1 When the long-term hospitalization of my administrative assistant began, I added her IMAP account to my Evolution email. Her email address is hxxx...@lauterbachandassociates.com while mine is j...@lauterbachandassociates.com . No matter what settings I make in Composer Preferences, starting a new email or replying to an email, Evolution insists on using hx...@lauterbachandassociates.com . Is there solution to this problem? Hi, I'm not aware of anything available in the CardDAV interface. The groups the Contacts API used to expose are just not in the CardDAV. The Google did not just close the Contacts API, they have a replacement for it, it's the People API, but there's nobody able to port libgdata project to use the People API, thus the move to the CardDAV interface. > And, finally, I am thinking about adding all the categories to the > contacts shown in evolution to reflect the google labels (>2k > contacts, and some dozens of categories... I'm afraid the Google contacts won't preserver/survive/properly synchronize the Categories with their Groups, thus all of this can be lost some day. Even worse, I just tried to create a contact with a set Category and it was lost/not saved to the server. Maybe once they synchronize the groups through the categories, it'll start working on its own, both ways, but whether they plan any such thing I do not know, it is solely up to them (honestly, it doesn't look like a too complicated task, but they are large and they have their own priorities). I don't know if that's the best way or there are other options, any suggestion is very welcome. Apart from that, as far as I understand it's all in google's hands and we don't have any option at the moment to see labels exported into the CardDAV interface, or are we aware there is any kind of plan for it in the future? And, finally, I am thinking about adding all the categories to the contacts shown in evolution to reflect the google labels (>2k contacts, and some dozens of categories... I can do it manually (argh!), but could there be any semi-automated way?). This would lead to duplicated and not consistent data, and what if in the future google extends the CardDAV interface? They deprecated the Contacts API, which used to be used in the past, thus the evolution-data-server switched to the Google's CardDAV interface, which is more standardized. [Evolution] Evolution doesn't show google contacts categories any more
Hi, I have just realized that my Address book doesn't show contacts categories as it usually did in the past. The contacts belong to a google contacts address book, that is configured in evo in two ways: - "Type: google" - "Type: " and both miss the categories (i.e. the "Categories" field is blank), in both of these two scenarios: - in a custom view where I added a "category" column; - if I open the window of a single contact. The categories are present, as usual, as labels in the google contacts web page. I don't know if I did anything wrong, or if it's a problem in evo itself. Running evolution 3.42.4 (3.42.4-2.fc35) on Fedora 35.
