FreeBSD unmaintained ports which are currently marked broken
As part of an ongoing effort to reduce the number of problems in the FreeBSD ports system, we periodically notify users of ports that are marked as broken in their Makefiles. In many cases these ports are failing to compile on some subset of the FreeBSD build environments. The most common problem is that recent versions of -CURRENT include gcc4.2, which is much stricter than older versions. The next most common problem is that compiles succeed on the i386 architecture (e.g. the common Intel PC), but fail on one or more of the other architectures due to assumptions about things such as size of various types, byte-alignment issues, and so forth. In occasional cases we see that the same port may have different errors in different build environments. The script that runs on the build cluster uses heuristics to try to 'guess' the error type to help you isolate problems, but it is only a rough guide. One more note: on occasion, there are transient build errors seen on the build farm. Unfortunately, there is not yet any way for this algorithm to tell the difference (humans are much, much better at this kind of thing.) The errors are listed below. In the case where the same problem exists on more than one build environment, the URL points to the latest errorlog for that type. (By 'build environment' here we mean 'combination of 5.x/6.x/-current with target architecture'.) (Note: the dates are included to help you to gauge whether or not the error still applies to the latest version. The program that generates this report is not yet able to determine this automatically.) portname: archivers/rvm broken because: Does not compile with GCC 4.2 build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=archiversportname=rvm portname: audio/beast broken because: Does not compile with GCC 4.2 build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=audioportname=beast portname: audio/gnomoradio broken because: Broken with gcc 4.2 build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=audioportname=gnomoradio portname: audio/gsi broken because: Broken with gcc 4.2 build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=audioportname=gsi portname: audio/holyshout broken because: Broken with gcc 4.2 build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=audioportname=holyshout portname: audio/nogger broken because: just makes a humming noise build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=audioportname=nogger portname: audio/sphinx broken because: Does not compile with GCC 4.2 build errors: http://pointyhat.freebsd.org/errorlogs/i386-errorlogs/e.7.2007093022/sphinx-2.0.4_2.log (Sep 30 19:15:39 UTC 2007) overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=audioportname=sphinx portname: audio/teknap broken because: Does not compile with GCC 4.2 build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=audioportname=teknap portname: cad/mars broken because: Broken with gcc 4.2 build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=cadportname=mars portname: cad/varkon broken because: Does not compile with GCC 4.2 build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=cadportname=varkon portname: chinese/cce broken because: Does not compile with GCC 4.2 build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=chineseportname=cce portname: chinese/chinput3 broken because: Does not compile with GCC 4.2 build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=chineseportname=chinput3 portname: chinese/cxterm broken because: Does not compile on GCC 4.2 build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=chineseportname=cxterm portname: chinese/xemacs broken because: Does not build even with fix for -lxpg4 build errors: http://pointyhat.freebsd.org/errorlogs/i386-errorlogs/e.5.2007100408/zh-xemacs-20.4_3.log (Oct 6 14:48:04 UTC 2007) http://pointyhat.freebsd.org/errorlogs/i386-errorlogs/e.6.2007100219/zh-xemacs-20.4_3.log (Oct 7 16:49:12 UTC 2007) overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=chineseportname=xemacs portname: databases/gbib broken because: Broken with gcc 4.2 build errors: none. overview: http://portsmon.FreeBSD.org/portoverview.py?category=databasesportname=gbib portname:

I’m trying to upgrade from apache 2.2.6_1 to apache 2.2.6_2 with portupgrade –a . My portupgrade version is portupgrade-2.3.1,2 and my m4 version is m4-1.4.9,1 (all my otherports are updated). After a successfull compiled (at least I can’t see any error), the process stop during the installing of the new apache version with this error: ………. Where I can find the meaning of Error code 1? I take a look at /usr/local/share/examples/apache22 and see nothing special. Thank you in advance. _ Express yourself instantly with MSN Messenger! NOPORTDOCS and man/info pages
Hello- I am working on some small cleanup patches to a couple port Makefiles and had a few questions on how to handle man/info pages. I have come across a couple Makefiles that have something like this in post-install: .if defined(NOPORTDOCS) ... .else MAN1= portname.1 INFO= portname .endif It's my understanding after reading 5.9, 5.10, and 5.14.4 of the Porter's Handbook that the man and info page variables should be listed in the first part of the Makefile, before the .include bsd.port.pre.mk or .include bsd.port.mk for example. It also states in 5.14.4 that Note: NOPORTDOCS only controls additional documentation installed in DOCSDIR. It does not apply to standard man page and info pages. This statement seems to indicate that the above snippet would still install the man/info pages even if NOPORTDOCS was set. I have also seen where the manpage and info page are then also listed in pkg-plist, which I gather should not be the case according to 5.9 of the Porter's Handbook. So, my questions are: Is the above handling of the man and info pages correct? It seems the answer is no, but just thought I would check. How does one choose not to install man and info pages if NOPORTDOCS does not apply to them? I seem to recall that there is a NO_INSTALL_MANPAGES knob but am not sure if that's the answer or if there is a NO_INSTALL_INFOPAGES. Is is correct procedure to never include man and info pages in the pkg-plist like Porter's Handbook states? Am I way out in left field here? :-) Many thanks- Chess -- Chess Griffin GPG Public Key: 0x0C7558C3 http://www.chessgriffin.com pgpINv6uHDtq1.pgp Description: PGP signature

I followed the instructions in UPDATING except for the pkgdb -F because the install didn't complete. I tried on 4 current boxes and one RELENG6 box and they all broke as shown below: [error messages snipped] Not that I'm overly concerned. All the boxes are with todays sources and are running kernels reset within this week. It worked great for me -- I didn't even need to do pkgdb -F... This is on -STABLE from September 18; I havn't tried a recent -CURRENT yet. Greetings, Philipp Thanks, Philipp. At least I know that it is me. I guess I should be happy that the machines are consistent;) I must have missed something. have a great weekend, ed ___ freebsd-ports@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-ports To unsubscribe, send any mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED]
