mplayer is very powerful and it's manpage is overwhelming. Once you get started with it mplayer's features become less inaccessible. Or you may try gmencoder which offers a GTK interface to the basic functionality of mencoder. It will be largely sufficient for your needs. AVI to MPEG conversion
Hi I am looking for a tool to convert an AVI file into MPEG. I have looked at both mplayer and ffmpeg, but I can't quite seem to figure this out. If anyone has the patience and knowledge of how to do this I would appreciate it a lot.
