[Freedos-user] New release of the Dillo web browser for DOS
I made a new version of the Dillo internet browser for DOS. It is based on version 3.0.2 of the Dillo browser and features SSL support now. It can be downloaded here: http://nanox-microwindows-nxlib-fltk-for-dos.googlecode.com/files/DILLODOS-302b.zip This are the new features: - SSL support - FTP file transfer support - printing web pages to postscript files - improved open file dialogs for opening stored web pages and storing downloaded files - faster downloads of files - separate directory for downloaded files Please take a look at the updated USRGuide.pdf which is included in the archive. Amazing work. If you get abiword working on xwindows, you will get a modern looking workstation able to open .doc, .docx and .odt files !! I made an alternative to Abiword called FlWriter: http://code.google.com/p/nanox-microwindows-nxlib-fltk-for-dos/wiki/FlWriter This can import docx and odt files. Then I made a Desktop for FreeDOS called XFDOS: http://code.google.com/p/nanox-microwindows-nxlib-fltk-for-dos/wiki/XFDOS This includes the applications Dillo, FlWriter, a spreadsheet editor, antipaint, mupdf viewer, an image viewer, a personal planner and calender plus further applications. This is a workstation with graphical applications. Georg-- Everyone hates slow websites. So do we. Hi georg, Out of curiosity, have you any idea how well this browser works with a screen reader? say comparative to lynx? thanks, Karen On Wed, 20 Mar 2013, Georg Potthast wrote: I made an alternative to Abiword called FlWriter: http://code.google.com/p/nanox-microwindows-nxlib-fltk-for-dos/wiki/FlWriter This can import docx and odt files. [Freedos-user] USB parameters
Hi Bret and others, I have a rather old Olympus digital camera, and I would like to download its pictures in FreeDOS with the USB cable, but this isn't working. In fact, it is still worse: it does work, but only 1 out of 10 times. (It works in Linux alright, but I take recourse to Linux only for those things that cannot be done in FreeDOS.) In a series of tests, the possibilities that the fault is in (1) motherboard, (2) cable, (3) USB port, or (4) picture memory card have all been excluded. I download pictures regularly in FreeDOS from another Olympus camera with the USB cable. There were problems in the beginning too, but by trial and error I found a value for the /X parameter that makes it work reliably. For the current camera, I tried the same /X trick, but it did not work. Is there any other parameter or option which I should try? Thanks, Marcos PS: I remember what you said about the USB architecture being flaky, so I'm not entertaining overly high hopes with this camera. -- Everyone hates slow websites. So do we.
