The Lucene PMC has decided to discontinue this mailing list 
(general@lucene.apache.org).
Please instead use a relevant dev or user mailing list for either 
lucene-core[1] or pylucene[2].
The Solr project has moved, please direct any solr related emails to their 
lists, see [3] for details.

I ran my usual smoke test: install JCC, PyLucene, then index and optimize
the first 100K documents from a Wikipedia English snapshot, and run a
couple queries.
