I've made those branches as something that Jenkins will look at. This should
sort out the immediate problem

Does it make sense to have smoke run on all branches instead?

i.e. instead of specifying which particular branches to run on, let's run on
all branches.

Or are there specific branches we do not support for certain platforms?

all.

In fact, let's say we add support for freebsd 11, and we find that gluster 3.6
do not build on newer freebsd, do we want to backport fixes for that or not ?

The following machines have had disks added:

nbslave71.cloud.gluster.org
nbslave72.cloud.gluster.org
nbslave74.cloud.gluster.org
nbslave75.cloud.gluster.org
nbslave77.cloud.gluster.org
nbslave7g.cloud.gluster.org

I've made /archives and /build a symlink from the new hard disk. I'll leave
this open overnight to monitor what's going on in these machines.

Note: I've also changed the build timeout to 120 mins and turned off concurrent
builds (which should have never been enabled).

Description of problem:
/etc/hosts has the following content on NetBSD machines.

::1 localhost localhost.
127.0.0.1 localhost localhost.

This is a problem when localhost is used for operations in tests.
Let us have the current infra to give out only IPv4 IPs for now.
We need a dedicated setup for IPv6 testing.

How reproducible:
Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. check /etc/hosts

Action items to solve this:

1. Script to clear out old builds and archives.
2. Attach 10-15 GB of block storage to all the netbsd machines so this isn't an
issue.

The cost of time we spend debugging/fixing this is definitely greater than the
cost of additional storage.

For regression tests, we do not install glusterfs in the right path, so we need

This is causing the review in URL to fail.

nigelb: the compare-bug-version-and-git-branch script expects the
to-test change to be checked out, not sure if the JJB config does that?

So I will create it for this time, but I would like us to have a bit more
process to decide when we give alias to people.

If in the future, if we want to start adding a bit more order (like having
shell account linked to mail account, etc), we will need a proper process.

So I will not create anymore aliases for users after this one before we have a
documented (eg, written down somewhere) on what are the condition to get a
alias.

That depends a bit on the job. The release ones go to the maintainers and

Gerrit failing seems logical since it's detecting a second review request to do
the same thing. It should handle the failure gracefully, and I'll look at what
Gerrit upstream is doing about it.

We have 2 options:
a) Fix up the abandoned review.
b) Alter the Change-Id for the abandoned review. I'd really like us to do this
*only* if absolutely necessary.

Poornima, can we revive the abandoned review request

We should revisit this because we're discovering that there are things that
people did need that are getting redirected into places where they don't exist.

The review of all /community and Mediawiki work and moving into RTD was
dependent on being able to resolve the search issues with RTD - which is still
outstanding.

However, with a focus on moving off RTD and into another system, we may be able
to move what was in Mediawiki into the canonical documentation as part of this.

Thanks! It is good to see some progress here.

However we should improve the redirection in such a way that any URL
starting with gluster.org/community/documentation/ gets pointed to the
new site. There was a plan to map all pages to their right new
location, but that seems rather painful to do. A generic redirect would
still allow existing search results, bookmarks or links on other pages
reach the new docs.

Maybe Misc could put that in the webserver config? Or someone could
write an index.php (that was in all URLs anyway, right?) that does the
redirection.

Thanks,
Niels

--- Additional comment from Michael Scherer on 2016-07-25 06:00:59 EDT ---

yeah, I am gonna do it in the web server config, and move that config from salt
to ansible while on it.

--- Additional comment from Michael Scherer on 2016-07-25 11:06:18 EDT ---

So we have:

Redirect permanent /rdo.php
http://www.gluster.org/community/documentation/index.php/OpenStack
Redirect permanent /presos.php
http://www.gluster.org/community/documentation/index.php/Presentation
Redirect permanent /docs/
http://www.gluster.org/community/documentation/index.php/Main_Page

Can we consider this to be obsoletes now ?

And we have:

RedirectMatch ^/documentation/(.*) http://www.gluster.org/docs-redirect/

I will extend that to /community/documentation as well ?

--- Additional comment from Nigel Babu on 2016-08-01 23:01:30 EDT ---

Looks like misc has fixed this. Closing as resolved.

--- Additional comment from Amye Scavarda on 2016-08-15 14:56:14 EDT ---

Could "there are things that people did need that are getting redirected into
places where they don't exist. " be a bit more detailed ?

--- Additional comment from Amye Scavarda on 2016-08-16 13:41:45 EDT ---

I have gotten multiple questions about where pieces from the mediawiki have
gotten moved.

Please can we revisit this?

--- Additional comment from Niels de Vos on 2016-08-16 14:03:54 EDT ---

(In reply to Amye Scavarda from comment #6)
> I have gotten multiple questions about where pieces from the mediawiki have
> gotten moved.

Could you expand on the "pieces from the mediawiki"? Depending on the "piece",
it can be redirected to the correct RTD page, or elsewhere...

--- Additional comment from Amye Scavarda on 2016-08-16 14:13:55 EDT ---

At the very least,
http://www.gluster.org/community/documentation/index.php/Features/Opversion
that's marked in https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1365706.

What would also help me get more data is tracking on the documentation site, as
right now the redirect is not reporting back on what our highest hit pages are.

So, looking in more details, for the url
Gluster_3.2:_Configuring_Distributed_Striped_Volumes , there is more bots I
didn't filtered, and the same ip downloading the page 10 times.

The same goes for Gluster_3.1:_Manually_Mounting_Volumes, 27 hits from the same
ip in Island, and bots. And ip from the same country ( 2 times ), and 2 indians
hits.

I suspect that we would need more data to see what should be mapped, and/or
make a editorial choice based on existing stuff.

Alternatively, someone can decide to revert the complete change and redirection
for the time being, but that trading one set of issue for another one.

[Gluster-infra] [Bug 1367588] Improve the redirection for specific URL for RTD coming from old website

2016-08-17 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1367588

So I did a quick verification on the whole set of logs, and we have since the
26 July around 22 000 hits.

# grep /community/documentation/index.php www.gluster.org-access_log* |wc -l
22708

Around 90% of the traffic is bots:
# grep /community/documentation/index.php www.gluster.org-access_log* |grep -v
g2reader-bot/ | grep -v Slurp\; |grep -vi bingbot |grep -vi googlebot |grep -v
Baiduspider/ |grep -v AhrefsBot/ |grep -v MJ12bot/ | grep -v 'Sogou web' |grep
-v SeznamBot/ |grep -v electricmonk/ | grep -v 'HaosouSpider;' |grep -v
archive.org_bot |grep -v Feedly/1.0 |grep -v SputnikBot/ | grep -v yoozBot |wc
-l
2598

I suspect on top of that that there is lots of refresh and duplicate ips

# grep /community/documentation/index.php www.gluster.org-access_log* |grep -v
g2reader-bot/ | grep -v Slurp\; |grep -vi bingbot |grep -vi googlebot |grep -v
Baiduspider/ |grep -v AhrefsBot/ |grep -v MJ12bot/ | grep -v 'Sogou web' |grep
-v SeznamBot/ |grep -v electricmonk/ | grep -v 'HaosouSpider;' |grep -v
archive.org_bot |grep -v Feedly/1.0 |grep -v SputnikBot/ | grep -v yoozBot
|awk '{print $1}' |awk -F: '{print $2}' |sort -u |wc -l
649

Then trying to group by network just show around 600 hits. That's roughly 2 to
3 visitors per day on the wiki.

After removing the various hacking attempt (aimed at joomla), the hit on the
redirect page itself, the tentative to login for spam, and favicon, we are down
to 1500 hits (without deduplication):

# grep /community/documentation/index.php www.gluster.org-access_log* |grep -v
g2reader-bot/ | grep -v Slurp\; |grep -vi bingbot |grep -vi googlebot |grep -v
Baiduspider/ |grep -v AhrefsBot/ |grep -v MJ12bot/ | grep -v 'Sogou web' |grep
-v SeznamBot/ |grep -v electricmonk/ | grep -v 'HaosouSpider;' |grep -v
archive.org_bot |grep -v Feedly/1.0 |grep -v SputnikBot/ | grep -v yoozBot
|grep -v docs-redirect |awk '{print $7}' |grep -v 'Special:UserLogin' |grep
-v '=history' |grep -v '%22%20h=/' |grep -v /favicon.ico |wc -l
1524

Then the 30 most popular URLs are:

[root@supercolony httpd]# grep /community/documentation/index.php
www.gluster.org-access_log* |grep -v g2reader-bot/ | grep -v Slurp\; |grep -vi
bingbot |grep -vi googlebot |grep -v Baiduspider/ |grep -v AhrefsBot/ |grep -v
MJ12bot/ | grep -v 'Sogou web' |grep -v SeznamBot/ |grep -v electricmonk/ |
grep -v 'HaosouSpider;' |grep -v archive.org_bot |grep -v Feedly/1.0 |grep -v
SputnikBot/ | grep -v yoozBot |grep -v docs-redirect |awk '{print $7}' |grep
-v 'Special:UserLogin' |grep -v '=history' |grep -v '%22%20h=/' |grep
-v /favicon.ico |sort |uniq -c |sort -rn | head -n 30

So the top 10 urls (after crude bots filtering):

[root@supercolony httpd]# grep /community/documentation/index.php
www.gluster.org-access_log |grep -v bing | grep -v 'Yahoo!' |grep -v Googlebot
| awk '{print $7}' |sort |uniq -c | sort -rn |head -n 10

 48 /docs-redirect/

 12 /community/documentation/index.php/Getting_started_overview
 11 /community/documentation/index.php/Gluster_3.2:_Setting_Volume_Options
 10 /community/documentation/index.php/Main_Page

So the most popular url are either 3.2 time, or generic pages.

A more thorough check and examination will unfortunately have to wait for me to
sleep.

[Gluster-infra] [Bug 1416953] Request gerrit integration for gluster/ test github repository

2017-02-08 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1416953

@Nigel, thanks. Was able to test drive this today and submitted a change to
check issue # reference (https://gerrit-stage.rht.gluster.org/#/c/16439/ ).

The problem though is, it needs the regression flags and other such before I
can submit this to see the issue getting auto updated in github.

So,

- Can we turn off these extra flags for this repository?
- How can I edit/create a workerant for this repo in gerrit, that reports
updates to issues, like the WorkerAnt updates to bugzila on our main repo?

I understand that you have given me admin privs, but unable to see where the
above activities occur from the gerrit admin interface, I am obviously missing
something or looking in the wrong place. Request some assistance.

[Gluster-infra] [Bug 1418369] New: Need way to revert commits or mark tests bad without testing

2017-02-01 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1418369

Bug ID: 1418369
Summary: Need way to revert commits or mark tests bad without
testing
   Product: GlusterFS
   Version: mainline
 Component: project-infrastructure
  Assignee: b...@gluster.org
  Reporter: jda...@redhat.com
CC: b...@gluster.org, gluster-infra@gluster.org

As discussed in today's community meeting, we need a way to "dig ourselves out
of the hole" quickly when work is blocked by sporadically failing tests.
Specifically, there should be a way to exempt patches from testing which (a)
revert a previous commit or (b) mark a test as bad. Gerrit has permissions
that allow specified users to bypass tests by pushing to refs/heads/xxx instead
of refs/for/xxx. This permission should be enabled for project architects (and
probably not for others). If we can further extend or limit this ability by
recognizing reverts and test markings for what they are, that's great but not
immediately necessary.

[Gluster-infra] [Bug 1419002] New: Central server for logging

2017-02-03 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1419002

Bug ID: 1419002

   Version: mainline
 Component: project-infrastructure
  Assignee: b...@gluster.org
  Reporter: nig...@redhat.com
CC: b...@gluster.org, gluster-infra@gluster.org

I'm thinking it's time we centralized the logs onto one machine. This machine
needs to have a public IP and a good amount of storage space. Given that most
of our tests run on Rackspace, I'm tempted to host it there.

I'm guessing all it needs is an apache server and ssh keys that will let it
talk to all the test nodes.

2017-01-27 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1405390

This happens because the /var/log/messages file gets an entry after the tar.
But tar exists with status 1. It's okay to ignore this failure. We should
probably catch the tar exit status 1 and return that as 0 instead. Or wrap the
command with a `|| true`

[Gluster-infra] [Bug 1416953] New: Request gerrit integration for gluster/ test github repository

2017-01-26 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1416953

Bug ID: 1416953
Summary: Request gerrit integration for gluster/test github
repository
   Product: GlusterFS
   Version: mainline
 Component: project-infrastructure
  Assignee: b...@gluster.org
  Reporter: srang...@redhat.com
CC: b...@gluster.org, gluster-infra@gluster.org

The repo https://github.com/gluster/test is a playground for our github move.
We prototyped some project boards and labels there.

Going further we want to prototype and see how github issues and its mentions
in commits can be leveraged to make a move to github issues and stop using
Bugzilla.

Towards this, this is a request to be able to submit gerrit reviews against the
test repository (possibly via our gerrit instance), so that we can play with
and check how this can function.

We want such a playground within our infra, so that in the gluster space other
maintainers can also try out the workflow with ease and comment on the changes.

The core need is, we should be able to add test as a project to our gerrit
instance, and be able to open reviews and submit changes from there.

So the merge type that I usually select for projects lets you build have
dependent reviews. However, in that case you can't have the Reviewed-by and
Review-on flags. I default to this submit type because of the advantages it
providers.

If you'd like the flags more than anything else, I can change the submit type.
