[Gluster-infra] [Bug 1431199] New: Request to automate closing github PRs
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1431199 Bug ID: 1431199 Summary: Request to automate closing github PRs Product: GlusterFS Version: mainline Component: project-infrastructure Priority: medium Assignee: b...@gluster.org Reporter: srang...@redhat.com CC: b...@gluster.org, gluster-infra@gluster.org This request is discussed here: http://lists.gluster.org/pipermail/maintainers/2017-March/002325.html We do not accept github PRs as our work flow is gerrit based. To educate contributors, one of the things we could do is to put up a template as in [1] for the PULL_REQUEST_TEMPLATE. It will look like this [2] when users attempt to submit PRs. An alternate idea suggested by Nigel was to accept PRs, but use a Jenkins job to auto close the same, with some generic (or very specific) instructions on how to submit it to our gerrit instance. The advantage of the latter method is that we do not lose the code change suggested, and we can still evaluate the same and reach out to the contributor and also possibly get the change into our gerrit instance. The latter approach looks good, and we would like to have this inplemented. This bug is being raised for the same. Also, this is not an urgent requirement, this can happen in the next month or beyond, as this does not change anything major for us at the moment. Yes, agreed, glusterdocs is not via gerrit, and github will take care of the mention for us. > The problem here is to remove duplication. We currently push to bugzilla > every time a patchset is created. For features there will be no bug in the commit message, it will be of the rfc type, so if I read your comment here right, WorkerAnt will automagically hence post to Bugzilla or to github only and not to both, right? So the duplication problem does not exist? (or are you referring to the duplication issue as discussed in the next para by you, in which case, disregard this comment) > > For a large change, there may be multiple pushes that will create noise if > we add comment on every patchset. This needs to be fixed for Bugzilla *as > well*. Once that's sorted, we'll make the change for Github. Sigh! yes this is true and to some extent I agree that it is noise as well (hence the sigh). At the same time this repetitive posting also (sometimes) helps (maybe), that there is a new change that you may want to look at when following the bug (or in this case the issue). > > Does this sound acceptable? I would like to treat the noise and posting to github issues separately, as I would like the github issue posting to appear sooner, but that assumes I know how much effort it would take to do both. Does this answer your question on acceptability. I will also send in a mail with the various requests that have been made of the infra team with some form of priority to them, just so we are on the same page. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1480507 M. Schererchanged: What|Removed |Added Flags|needinfo?(mscherer@redhat.c | |om) | --- Comment #6 from M. Scherer --- No, I rather try to figure what was wrong, and why it was working before. And if that was never working, why it wasn't detected sooner. So far, I did found some quoting issue (and pushed a fix), but this was likely present since more than 1 year. Were the test disabled since that time ? Also, the key to connect is /root/.ssh/id_georep , you can use it for the test. I did make sure this is properly limited to localhost, to avoid various security issue. And the reason this is done like this is because the tests were not cleaning up the old root key when they broke (or when it did block the system), which in turn did cause trouble to connect as root after a while, IIRC (cause there is a limit, if only computational to the number of key you can place in authorized_keys). We did manage last time to avoid breakage since we were using salt, but now we use ansible, any sshd breakage would be much more annoying to fix. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1470285 --- Comment #9 from M. Scherer--- Ok so no, that still do not answer the question. What are the name of the people who are gonna be deploying and maintaining that ? I didn't found any list telling who is maintaining the current web infra. The cominfra team do take care of the static builder, of the underlying OS on the web server, sure. You seems to be the one doing and dealing with the git repository and content. But who is dealing with wordpress is not written anywhere AFAIK. However, what was written in several mails, and said in several meeting is that that my team wasn't willing to take care of Wordpress (to which usually is answered "sure, we can do it ourself") So again, what is the plan, what is gonna happen in 1 month time regarding the switch (as I assume there is a plan) ? Since it was decided to host it on supercolony (cf comment #4) without our input, I would like to point out that it would have been nice to ask to the infra team about it instead of just dropping from above as usual. We want to get ride of that server, that's still EL 6, so I think it would be a better option to move to a new VM in EL 7. Then the team in charge of setting it up can take care of the setup, we will provides apache and a database on the postgres server (so we can have automated backup). -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug. [Gluster-infra] [Bug 1440810] Update rfc.sh to check Change-Id consistency for backports
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1440810 --- Comment #2 from Worker Ant <bugzilla-...@gluster.org> --- COMMIT: https://review.gluster.org/17031 committed in release-3.8 by Niels de Vos (nde...@redhat.com) -- commit ddf3d4d3785bbd4f964e54ebc72fd445662f21a5 Author: Shyam <srang...@redhat.com> Date: Wed Apr 5 14:22:57 2017 -0400 scripts: Update rfc.sh to check existance of Change-Id in backports Addition to this script is a no-op on master. This would need to be backported to active release branches to be effective. This check is not smart proof, in that someone could proceed knowing that the Change-Id differs from master, but this is not expected to catch that, instead it is to serve more as a reminder that we need the same Change-Id across branches. Contributors not using rfc.sh would not see this, but they are few and possibly far in between. Also contributors using gerrit to cherry-pick changes will not see this. For both cases a server side solution to catch any changes are needed. There is a possiblilty that we will follow this up with a check on the gerrit end and add a comment to the reviews, to aid reviewers to quickly check the sanity of the Change-Id when it differs. > BUG: 1428047 > Signed-off-by: Shyam <srang...@redhat.com> > Reviewed-on: https://review.gluster.org/17004 > Smoke: Gluster Build System <jenk...@build.gluster.org> > Reviewed-by: Niels de Vos <nde...@redhat.com> > NetBSD-regression: NetBSD Build System <jenk...@build.gluster.org> > CentOS-regression: Gluster Build System <jenk...@build.gluster.org> > Reviewed-by: Kaleb KEITHLEY <kkeit...@redhat.com> > Reviewed-by: Amar Tumballi <ama...@redhat.com> Change-Id: I11e371489a4a3cf2ff96d9892256986cd535998b BUG: 1440810 Signed-off-by: Shyam <srang...@redhat.com> Reviewed-on: https://review.gluster.org/17031 Smoke: Gluster Build System <jenk...@build.gluster.org> NetBSD-regression: NetBSD Build System <jenk...@build.gluster.org> CentOS-regression: Gluster Build System <jenk...@build.gluster.org> Reviewed-by: Kaleb KEITHLEY <kkeit...@redhat.com> Reviewed-by: Niels de Vos <nde...@redhat.com> -- You are receiving this mail because: You are on the CC list for the bug.
