Deepshika has been doing excellent work in CI land for the last month
including, getting our static analysis jobs sorted.

As the maintainer of the CI component, I'd like to make her a peer of the
component.

[Gluster-infra] [Bug 1480507] tests: Pre-requisite setup to run geo-rep test case on regression machines.

2017-08-17 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1480507

Hi M. Scherer/Nigel,

I see that, it is creating separate ssh key pair for geo-rep(
/root/.ssh/id_georep). This will not work as geo-rep won't use ssh with -i
option.
It requires passwordless for root with default ssh key pair (/root/.ssh/id_rsa)

Testcase:
ssh root@

(with out -i flag, should login with out password on all regression machines)

I think previously, they had setup this and it was working on few and was
failing on which it was not setup.

Thanks,
Kotresh HR

Installing python-bugzilla on d.g.o is a more-than-trivial security risk.
Considering d.g.o has been compromised in the past, I'm going to uninstall
python-bugzilla and remove the cron. I'll also be copying out the scripts so
this can be done the right way.

Indeed, and maintainers are expected to configure their Gerrit account like
that. This is even one of the things we document relatively well:

How tunable is the Gerrit extension? I can think of at least two cases where
this would be more annoying than useful.

(a) For frequently contended files (e.g. glusterd-volume-set.c).

(b) For sweeping but superficial changes (e.g. copyright).

Overall it seems like a good idea, but I'd be wary of the details.

Sometimes, there are changes from new contributors which go unnoticed because
no reviewers were added. I've seen Jeff and Amar diligently going through these
new changes without reviewers. There should be a better mechanism for
maintainers to subscribe or notice new incoming changes and this will greatly
help.

Some thoughts on this:

* Github 'suggests' reviewers for PRs based on git blame. The PR author can
choose or ignore to add them as reviewers. If Gerrit can suggest reviewers in
the UI, it'd be great.

* If Gerrit allows, you could check if the potential reviewer (based on git
blame) has had reviewing activity in recent past (to filter out non active
contributors), and then add them as reviewer.

the -Z option of cp is supposed to take care of that. But someone has to
remember to use it.

I am in favor of 2. 1 is just a bandaid, and while this would be easy to do, it
will just give a excuse to push option 2 for later.

And I would also add 4: "we should watchout for AVC message in the log, and
send a alert". Which would requires to get a monitoring solution, but that's
lower priority than others stuff.

I think this is still valid, we never added PULL_REQUEST_TEMPLATE, stating we

In the future, even if we do auto sync between PRs and gerrit, which I think
may take time, we should possibly make this happen as well till then.

@Amar, thoughts?

This is still valid. Right now, we have around 13 PRs, for which I would
manually recommend gerrit and close them in Github. But in general for future
we need some automated way of 'posting' that message when the PR is generated.

If everyone is fine, I would do that using zapier, but message will be from my

This situation arises when we do not have a patch owner name. This happens to
people who do not set their name in Gerrit. So, as much as I'd love to set
patch owner name, I can't. If you have suggestion for a different default,
please feel free to suggest.

I have only one comment: Please make sure your planning is aptly reflected in
the glusterfs "focus area" planning project as well, i.e have those lanes
populated as well as your own project, reflecting work done/tobe done on
glusterfs. Instead of pointing to another repo to the users community for (say)
gfapi enhancements planned and such.

[Gluster-infra] [Bug 1454423] New: github link in gerrit webpage needs a better parser

2017-05-22 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1454423

Bug ID: 1454423
Summary: github link in gerrit webpage needs a better parser
   Product: GlusterFS
   Version: mainline
 Component: project-infrastructure
  Keywords: Triaged
  Assignee: nig...@redhat.com
  Reporter: srang...@redhat.com
CC: b...@gluster.org, gluster-infra@gluster.org

Description of problem:
if anything appears as a # it becomes a github issue link in gerrit web UI
(example: https://review.gluster.org/#/c/17319/2)

Can this be corrected to use the same regex (if it is regex based i.e) that we
use in rfc.sh or in
https://github.com/gluster/glusterfs-patch-acceptance-tests/commit/955158e92f3664da6e3307f0096d67add5620c7c
as appropriate.

Usage of # to refer to comment # or bug # or such artifacts are common in
commits, hence improving the parser would certainly help in this regard.

sab...@redhat.com

We would like to have a new GitHub repository called "integration" that be used
as landing repository for the "Gluster Experience & Integration for Developers"
(the people behind integrat...@gluster.org). By using our own repository, we
can use the GitHub project planning instead of our current Trello board. This
will make the work that is done for Gluster integrations with other projects
more visible in the community.

Contributions will be sent through Pull Requests (not Gerrit), so that it is
easier for non-Gluster developers to send their scripts and tools.

Please make Sahina and me an admin (usernames "sabose" and "nixpanic") of the
repository, so that we can approve and merge Pull Requests and add other
maintainers (permissions are needed for the project management part).

This bug is getting closed because a release has been made available that

glusterfs-3.8.12, please open a new bug report.

glusterfs-3.8.12 has been announced on the Gluster mailinglists [1], packages
for several distributions should become available in the near future. Keep an
eye on the Gluster Users mailinglist [2] and the update infrastructure for your
distribution.

scripts: prevent a script warning if rfc.sh does not find a backport

When running ./rfc.sh on a branch to post release notes (not a backport
from master), then the following script warning is displayed:

   ./rfc.sh: line 97: [: =: unary operator expected

In case the used variables are not set, they are not handled as empty
strings. Placing the variables inside "${qoutes}" prevents this warning.

[Gluster-infra] [Bug 1458719] New: download.gluster.org occasionally has the wrong permissions causing problems for users

2017-06-05 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1458719

Bug ID: 1458719
Summary: download.gluster.org occasionally has the wrong
permissions causing problems for users
   Product: GlusterFS
   Version: mainline
 Component: project-infrastructure
  Assignee: b...@gluster.org
  Reporter: nig...@redhat.com
CC: b...@gluster.org, gluster-infra@gluster.org,
kkeit...@redhat.com

This bug is meant to be a placeholder to plan and discuss a good interim
solution so that we do not make a mistake again.

Most often, there's an selinux context error which requires a restorecon for
the entire folder.

1) We could make a periodic sweep of the pub/ folder with restorecon so
everything inside this folder has the default SELinux permissions.

2) We could automate the package copying into the server from where it's
generated so that process is not manual.

3) I really think we should test the package downloads after putting them on
download.gluster.org. Just as far as "making sure they can be downloaded with
curl" is reasonably good enough to start with.

[Gluster-infra] [Bug 1457824] New: New branch for 'glusterfs' project called 'experimental '

2017-06-01 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1457824

Bug ID: 1457824
Summary: New branch for 'glusterfs' project called
'experimental'
   Product: GlusterFS
   Version: mainline
 Component: project-infrastructure
  Assignee: b...@gluster.org
  Reporter: atumb...@redhat.com
CC: b...@gluster.org, gluster-infra@gluster.org

Description of problem:

* This is where one can push any conceptual changes for review and get it
merged quickly.

   - To make sure we don't delay, after every 1 week if there are no merges, a
patch would be merged. (If there are no -1).
   - Manually, it can be merged even before.

* Review comments on this branch is absolutely about concept and design, and no
nitpicks. even ./rfc.sh would be changed to allow (with a question) even in
case of Errors.
* All fundamental changes (like file type in GFID, DHT layout changes, etc)
gets merged here first, and once baked can be taken as a single patch and get
merged in master, which would make it to next release branch cut.
* This branch would have life for 6 months, and after 6 months a new branch
would be cut-off from master, so any features which can't be stabilized in 6
months, needs to be rebased at least once in 6 months to new branch. This way,
it would be much easier for everyone to experiment their ideas.
* As this branch doesn't need a bugzilla ID to work, having github issues (for
an RFE) would be must. Not having github ID can fetch -1 review points.

* Decision to merge the changes to upstream is left to the discretion of
author, who can cherry-pick and push changes to master, when she/he thinks it
is ready to be consumed.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
branch out from current 'master' branch

## Additional info:

* This branch will have merge permission for 'amarts' user on github.
* It needs to run smoke test to verify the patch and will have a scoring system
of +2 for review (1 automatic score, another manual) once met, it can be
merged.

* It should run all the current 8hrs tests once in a week, and rpm used for the
tests should be given for download.

[Gluster-infra] [Bug 1457827] New: Changes to the voting system on glusterfs 'master' branch

2017-06-01 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1457827

Bug ID: 1457827
Summary: Changes to the voting system on glusterfs 'master'
branch
   Product: GlusterFS
   Version: mainline
 Component: project-infrastructure
  Assignee: b...@gluster.org
  Reporter: atumb...@redhat.com
CC: b...@gluster.org, gluster-infra@gluster.org

Description of problem:

Only for 'master' branch:

- make the overall regression lightweight.
  - Run what netbsd tests run now for CentOS regression (ie, basic and features
in tests) - will mostly take just <2hrs.
  - Don't run netbsd builds
  - Instead add a compilation test on centos 32bit machine to keep reminding
ourself how many warnings we get. (And compilation failure there is -1).

On release-x.y branch:

- Continue with the currently existing voting rights, and the tests would be
different. (ie, full regression instead of lightweight regression tests).

delete any temporary files you create to do your testing. I'll check back in a

NetBSD is slightly different so you may end up having some trouble. I'm away
for the next 3 days, so you may see a slightly delayed response.

Nigel Babu changed:

On master:

1) I'm thinking we just run the tests/basic folder?
2) Do you mean netbsd builds or regressions? The netbsd build (netbsd6-smoke)
itself takes a short duration and is trivial to run. I recommend we keep that
remove the NetBSD voting job. Additionally, are we running the netbsd
regressions on a nightly basis now?
3) We already have a 32-bit compilation test in the form of strfmt_errors. Do
we want more?

On release branch:

As far as I can see, this seems to be "keep going as we do right now". Are we
removing netbsd voting regressions here too?

for 'master':

1) tests/basic is good.

2) lets run netbsd6-smoke

3) We can run 'netbsd' job in nightly IMO. (doesn't matter much on 'master'
branch decision now).

On 'release-x.y':

* For now, lets keep going as is, and see if any changes required later.

Re-opening this, a Jenkins job to detect Change-ID anomolies would ease any
discrepencies for reviewers and release-owners when merging changes, to
understand and possibly educate on the need.

Next question is, what is the best/proper way to handle these rewrites?

* DNS
* Apache via wordpress instance?
* WPengine's redirect interface?

Here's what I'll do:
It seems to be working at the moment, so let me see if it continues to work,
and what it does to our traffic to have the redirect through the direct
WordPress install.
I'll give it until EOD today and compare against what we had previously and see
if it makes a big difference.
If it does, I'll move it to the nginx interface through WPEngine.

OK, that helped a lot -- I didn't prepend the rule with ^ and that fixed this
case so the rewrite/redirect is now working for hardlinked mailing list links.

http://www.gluster.org/git-reincarnating-remote-master-branch-so-you-can-easily-pr-to-upstream/
is the answer to the direct one.
Unfortunately, it looks like the import done by the web developers has stripped
out all of the previous URL date information.

What's the best way forward here?

We need to have the source, and the destination.

For example, what is the destination we want for
/2009/12/gluster-storage-platform-featured-press/feed/ ?

What would be the one for
/2013/09/git-reincarnating-remote-master-branch-so-you-can-easily-pr-to-upstream/

We can't have a redirection without all the sources and all the destinations.

Couple of thoughts come to mind, which are a bit brute-force.

I think then we'd have to have an X:Y mapping of every single source and
destination as explicit full paths mapped to full paths.

How many posts are there? We'd need a rewrite rule for each one.

Can the HTTP server handle N 100s of these rewrites? Should seem so, yes?

(It occurs to me that if you did want the full dates in the path again, we
could go re-import of data. Then have a set of rewrite rules from the source
stripped-of-dates-path to the new path -- rewrite rules coming AND going. Idea
is to gracefully transition from the old and an interim-new to a permanent
new.)

If we did all the above with 301 codes, could we get the search indexing
resolved too?

I suspect a regexp like:

^/\d{4}/\d{2}/(.*)

to:

/$1

should suffice for the blog part.

Ideally, the import should have also used the settings of the old blog.

A quick verification on the internet show that's in Settings->Permalink, cf the
doc: https://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks

I have set a vhost oldblog.gluster.org if people want to take a look at the
existing settings there.
