Yes, that's it. Thank you very much!

Using search in file manager yesterday did not find it. Perhaps because it
is a hidden folder.

Re: [GNC] XDG_CONFIG_HOME

2018-04-15 Thread cicko
Hm, now I'm trying to set up an accelerator by creating accelerator-map file
in ~/.config/gnucash and it has no effect.

Also, setting it manually like this

GNC_DOC_PATH=~/.config/gnucash gnucash

does not change anything.
There is definitely nowhere in my user directory tree any mention of
gnucash, which is weird.
Is there a way to check where the settings are expected?
The trace file did not provide any clues in that regard.

If fixing the environment file (please check carefully to ensure that you made
the change correctly) didn't do it for you then please file a new bug; you have
a different problem from the one on that one.

Adding the line to my environment file didn't help unfortunately.

Hmm sounds like Windows versions come with guile-1.8. The following
change should fix this. Change line 271-272 in category-barchart.scm to:

(define the-acount-destination-alist
  (account-destination-alist accounts account-types
  (if (equal? account-levels 'all)
      (gnc:get-current-account-tree-depth)
      account-levels)))

[GNC] GnuCash3.0 Crashing on Startup

2018-04-15 Thread Judi Atkinson
I just installed GnuCash for the first time yesterday. No prior version
install on my Win 10Pro system. I have entered only 10 customers and about
16 transactions, but more often than not, when I open the program, the lock
from the previous time I opened is still on and I cannot open it. It
usually takes about 5-10 tries of "Open Anyway", open as read only, etc. to
get the file to open. I have had the most success trying to open, letting
it crash and tell windows about the crash, then deleting the lock file,
reopening as read only and then saving as a different file name. Once I do
that, and it takes several tries, I can then open the original file as the
lock is off it. I have output all transactions to a CSV file and can't see
any errors (but as a newbie, I don't really know what I'm looking for!).
Any help is appreciated. This is too much work to make it worthwhile!

Re: [GNC] Gnucash 3.0-1 crashes on MacOS 10.13.4

2018-04-15 Thread John Ralls
OK.

The “could not obtain the lock” dialog is expected after a crash.

Please open a bug and attach (don’t copy-and-paste) one of the several crash
reports you will have accumulated. You can access them via
/Applications/Utilities/Console. Select “User Reports” from the sidebar.
Control click on a report name and select “Reveal in Finder” to get the file to
attach to the bug.

Thanks for the info, Maf. Yes, it should be ~/.config (and it probably is)
but there was no gnucash folder there. I've now created it manually and
added the gtk-3.0.css file. The styles are somehow fixed even without adding
any of the custom styles in the file.
Some magic happening there but everything is fine.
Today I've really experienced several things fixing themselves up on their
own while I was just poking around. It feels strange but everything seems to
work now. Hope it does tomorrow, too! :)

Cheers

[GNC] "Unable to retrieve quotes for these items: CURRENCY:USD"

2018-04-15 Thread Samantha Payn
I have searched the mailing list database of queries and see that there
have been issues with fetching prices/currencies online before.

I am a novice GnuCash user and before I proceed further I need to be
sure that I can get live online USD and EUR to GBP and vice versa
prices. I have installed the Strawberry Perl tool and am attempting to
set up currencies for business use.

When I click the "get quotes" button in the Price Database I get the
error message: Unable to retrieve quotes for these items: CURRENCY:USD

There is no error message regarding EUR which I have set up in the same
   way as a currency.

   Can anyone help, please?

I'm on OpenSuSE Leap 42.3, but haven't yet made the upgrade to GC 3.0.
However, I don't have that variable in my environment either. Maybe the
default is ~/.config unless overridden? I have plenty of stuff in ~/.config!

Maf.

Re: [GNC] Gnucash 3.0-1 crashes on MacOS 10.13.4

2018-04-15 Thread Subramanian Venkateswaran
Thank you for your mail.

I could not find any transaction before 1st April 2009 with the approach
you said.

I use Gnucash to record only personal finance.

If it helps, it always informs me that there is a lock and when I choose
open anyway, it crashes with the error that I mentioned in the above mail.

Subramanian V.

[GNC] XDG_CONFIG_HOME

2018-04-15 Thread cicko
Continuing from another thread, this is a separate issue.
On my OpenSuse system, I see no XDG_CONFIG_HOME variable when I do
`printenv`. Echoing the variable itself also displays nothing.

This would not be a problem on its own but I see no ~/.config/gnucash folder
in order to do some GTK styling customizations. Could any linux gurus share
some wisdom here? Thanks!

formats, etc. are locale settings. If you launch GnuCash from the
command line you can set the locale for it with e.g. LANG=de_DE
gnucash. If you use a desktop icon it's easier to set it in
/usr/share/etc/gnucash/environment. It's about halfway down and says #
LANG = nl_BE. Remove the # and set it to your locale of choice. If you
want the same language just uncomment the following line. If you want a
   different language, uncomment the following line and replace {LANG}
with a comma-separated list of two-letter language codes in order of
   preference, e.g. fr,de,en.

Many thanks for all the tips. Got everything working now!

   Sqlite driver was missing.
I switched my system locale to en_IE as it seems to be the only one
matching my settings, without the need to mix different locales for
language, currency, date format, etc. In Yast, "Language" is the name
for all the related settings even though it shows way less detail than
   running "locale".

So it seems that the additional columns in the Accounts window are
always using the locale currency. At least on linux.
I was expecting this would be the default currency from the settings.
Do you have any opinion on this? Should I file it as a bug? I mean, my
original problem is solved and it is likely not affecting too many
people out there so it might as well pass.

   My gnucash package is v3.0.-1.1.
And, no, the .config/gnucash is definitely not there but obviously the
   config files are located somewhere.
The .register-cursor row is almost unusable with a dark theme as the
text remains black (and gets a dark background from the theme) so I'll
look around for the settings folder in order to modify the text color
   to something lighter.

   Cheers

Ah, yes. This does work. I don't know why it didn't before. I must've
done something wrong. :(

I'll close the bug.
