Re: [GNC] CANNOT SEE DATA IN FIELDS IN ACCOUNT REGISTER

2018-06-05 Thread Adrien Monteleone
I can’t say for certain, but this *might* be solved by switching to
‘Transaction Journal’ and ‘Double Line’ as defaults. I did that long ago and
I’ve never had to re-size anything and I slightly recall constant fidgeting
with column widths before hand.

Re: [GNC] USING THE SAME GNUCASH FILE ON BOTH LINUX AND WINDOWS COMPUTERS

2018-06-05 Thread Dennis Powless
You could use a cloud based storage service, with all computers linked, such as
Dropbox.

You can have GC on as many computers as you see fit, each using the same GC
data file.

That way you’re not depending on a usb drive that could get misplaced etc

Re: [GNC] CANNOT SEE DATA IN FIELDS IN ACCOUNT REGISTER

2018-06-05 Thread David Carlson
The column width settings for each account are retentive between sessions
as well as several other settings that can be set to desired defaults for
new windows in the preferences, but that has to be repeated if you use more
than one machine. I think there was an enhancement request once to make
some fields have automatic line wrap, but I am not sure. The developers do
not have time to design windows to be universally adaptable to every
possible combination of screen resolution, font size, number of characters
in a field, etc., and I think that they have done a good job of
accommodating the majority of users.

[GNC] Customer account statement "description" does not match the invoice "description"

2018-06-05 Thread rmomxtx
The contents of the description field in the invoice do not show up in the
"description" field on the customer account status report. From where does
the customer statement pull the information that goes in the description
field? Am I missing something or is this a program defect? If the latter, is
there a work around?

In the receive payment window there is a box on the bottom right side titled
register (registro in Spanish). Whatever you put in there appears on the
customer statement in the description field.

Is there a way to make a global setting (for all accounts in this file)
to display all the contents in every field when the account register is

able to see the Num and the posting accounts immediately after the

Re: [GNC] consolidate transactions report

2018-06-05 Thread Deva -
Thank you Doug. This report looks interesting and useful, though I haven’t
explored its many features yet.

I had some initial hiccups getting the report to show up in GC 3.1 (on Mac OS
Sierra) - seems like the config file in question has changed from 2.6 series.
It used to be called config.user, but now it’s called config-user.scm (thanks
to the wiki on custom report info). Once I copied your config file entries to
the new config file, it shows up and runs fine.

Cheers.

I don't think you'll find any issues with your plan. Linux and Windows
should interface the data file seamlessly without difference or issue.

There are differences in setting up GNUCash between platforms (Perl for
example if you plan on download quotes.) But that is a program
configuration topic, not a data file topic.

[GNC] USING THE SAME GNUCASH FILE ON BOTH LINUX AND WINDOWS COMPUTERS

2018-06-05 Thread Info

Greetings:

We have used gnucash on linux. While not experts, we think we can
accomplish what we need.

We want to use gnucash to maintain the financial records of a new
private foundation. The number of transactions will not be prohibitive.
We can restrict entries to one person at a time, no multiple incidents.
We would like to be able to put the main gnucash data files on a usb
drive and move the drive from linux computers to windows computers.
Gnucash will be loaded on all the computers.

Will we encounter problems with differences between the way a linux
gnucash interacts with the data and the way a windows gnucash interacts?
We can install exactly the same release on all computers (we are not
talking about more than 3 or 4 computers total.) This is for
convenience. If there is even the possibility of trouble, we will
restrict all entries to linux computers.

Thanks for your kind assistance.

Re: [GNC] Cash Flow report

2018-06-05 Thread DaveC49
Adrien,

I think with the default account selection, the Cash Flow report seems to do
the right thing. The double selection of accounts seems a bit strange, I
haven't really got a proper set of business accounts to check it out on
anymore and the dummy set I have put together have been for testing a few
specific features so are not general enough. I'll try running it on my
personal accounts to see how it handles them as I run a couple of small
business ventures through them, but don't really use the business features
with them. It should really only need to access Asset and Equity accounts to
construct a cash flow report.

David
