[GNC] All Saved Reports Return Empty

2023-10-31 Thread Steve Isenberg via gnucash-user
I think this problem has cropped up before, but I don't remember the solution.
   I'm on Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS   Version 5.4 (Flathub 5.4.1)
I brought over my saved-reports-2.8 file from my Windows backup laptop and put
them in ~/.var/app/org.gnucash.GnuCash/data/gnucash
Every report I run returns empty. Nothing works, but there are no errors.
I tried editing a couple of them, but that did not help. I even tried creating
a new report, but that did not help either.
How do I fix this issue?
Thanks in advance
Steve

Re: [GNC] Reports No Longer Work

2022-04-01 Thread Steve Isenberg via gnucash-user
$ gtk-launch --version   results in 3.24.30
Adding WEBKIT_DISABLE_COMPOSITING_MODE=1 to .bashrc did not help

Upgrading to version 4.10 DID help.
I usually wait a bit before I upgrade, but this time could not wait.

Thanks again and take care,Steve

I just realized that you're using flathub and GnuCash 4.9, so it's definitely
the WebKit problem, https://bugs.gnucash.org/show_bug.cgi?id=798486. Just get
the new 4.10 from flathub and you should be back in business.

[GNC] Reports No Longer Work

2022-03-31 Thread Steve Isenberg via gnucash-user
No reports work. None of my saved reports display info. Nothing from the menu
displays info. Even reports I never run display nothing.

Every report, saved or otherwise, displays a blank report screen. No errors or
warning.

System 76: Pop!_OS 21.10Gnome Version: 40.4.0
GnuCash Version: 4.9Build ID: Flathub 4.9-2Finance::Quote: 1.49
Custom report file appears correct:
/home/xx/.var/app/org.gnucash.GnuCash/data/gnucash/saved-reports-2.8
All was working last week. There were some system updates this week, a Gnome
update as well, but I cannot say what was specifically updated. Otherwise, the
system is current with updates as of today.

It's tax time here in the states. How do I fix this ASAP?

[GNC] Saved Report Locations V4.4

2021-01-28 Thread Steve Isenberg via gnucash-user
Currently running version 4.4 on Pop OS 20.04.
This link provides several possible locations:
https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Custom_Reports#Where_to_find_existing_reports
Neither of what is shown for Debian derivatives is correct as the paths shown
do not exist.

What is the file location of custom or saved reports ?

Re: [GNC] Version upgrade: Missing Saved Reports

2019-05-22 Thread Steve Isenberg via gnucash-user
Your memory was close enough and for Win7 it is buried inside C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\GnuCash folder.

Copied the 2.4 file to that location, renamed it 2.8 and BAM! All my reports
are back.
Thanks Adrien!

Steve,

Check the wiki concerning file locations for the 3.x series. Reports were moved
to another location and named saved-reports-2.8 (2.8 was originally the next in
the version numbering, but was later upped to 3.0) You?ll need to copy your 2.4
reports there. Unfortunately, I don?t know the Windows location off hand but
the wiki will have it. (someone more familiar with this might chime in as well)
I *think* it is `c:\Users\\%APPDATA%` but I could be remembering
it wrong ?best to double check and verify that.

If you have a truly custom report (not just a saved report) I seem to recall
also that the user loading file has changed. The wiki should also have this
info.

Check the FAQ for the links (or rabbit hole if you will, as it may be buried 3+
pages deep) to find the info.

Regards,
Adrien

[GNC] Version upgrade: Missing Saved Reports

2019-05-21 Thread Steve Isenberg via gnucash-user

Under my user ID (Win 7) there is a .gnucash folder with a file named
saved-reports-2.4.
How do I recover my saved reports from the old version?

Re: [GNC] Connect MySQL to GnuCash

2019-02-24 Thread Steve Isenberg via gnucash-user
That partially works. There is a non-specific error given after converting to
MySQL:

** Tables are created but no data is brought forward **
ERROR Converting to MySQL

The server at URL mysql://___/t4h_gnucash experienced an error or
encountered bad or corrupt data.

** Tables are created but no data is brought forward **
I found a similar issue raised on Stack Overflow. No definite answer on why it
occurred or how to work around it.

Is there a solution other than writing an export script to dump all the data
and then another script to load it into MySQL?
Thanks

Steve,

You will need to save the file as MySQL using the File->Save A,s if not
already done, to create the MySQL database. Once that is done it should be
no problem to connect MySQL workbench as per any other database. GnuCash
will have to have been built with support for MySQL (which is the default)
and you will have to have MySQL installed obviously.

The SQL commands GnuCash uses to create the database are given here
https://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/SQL

[GNC] V2.6.19 XML Only File Format

I am using a System76 Pop!_OS 18.04 LTS

During initial setup only the XML file format is available.
I have PostgreSQL on my system. Would rather use that or SQLite.
How can I setup using one of those DBs?

Re: Duplicating Accounts?

Adrien, that was it.I exported the accounts to a CSV. Edited the file, removed
all accounts but the one I wanted to duplicate. Edited those account lines with
the new name and imported back into GNUCash. BAM! Just what I was after. :)

Thanks much!Steve

I thought perhaps the route to go would be create a new hierarchy template,
but it seems that is not possible, at least from within the software. Then
I looked at exporting and importing an account tree, but again, while
export is possible, I don't see how to import a partial tree.

Best of luck.

Duplicating Accounts?

2018-02-08 Thread Steve Isenberg via gnucash-user

I figured out how to do this once before and now for thelife of I cannot
remember. I am trying to duplicate an expense account and allof its
sub-accounts, with a new name of course, and zero balances.

This is not a transfer of funds and I'm not duplicatingtransactions. It is
basically a copy of one account hierarchy to a new expenseaccount hierarchy.

Anyone remember how to do this without creating a newaccount and eight new
sub-accounts?

Thanks

Hi Doug,I could really use such a report as long as it is flexible enough to
select any accounts on the left side (for rows).Where would the columns labels
come from? Will they be also any accounts or will they be names used in the
Description field?Thank youDorel

I am thinking of creating a new report based on the comparison-transaction

Expenses? ? ? ? ? ? Me? mate? ? ? Kid#1? ? ? ? Kid#2
Food
clothing
Hobbies

or you could report

Expenses? ? ? ? ? ? trip#1? ? ? trip#2? ? ? ? trip#3
lodging
transportation
food
entertainment

or you could have

Expenses? ? ? Apt#1? ? ? ? Apt#2? ? ? ? ? Apt#3

The report would work by allowing you to find specific entries for each
column such as an account name? or an entry in the notes or memo fields
such as #mate or ##holiday ##london
Are there 5 or 6 people that could make use of such a report and would 5
columns be enough columns?

If there is not a strong interest I'll just make a rough version for myself.
