Re: [IMail Forum] OT - Email Archive

I believe it has to do with the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) act. For instance, see:

I heard that there is a law effective Dec 1 2006 that all companies must

Re: [IMail Forum] Upgrading to ICS version 3. Any suggestions

2006-03-28 Thread Christian Heller

Hi Eddie,
I just migrated from 8.22 on an NT server to Imail 2006.02a on a Windows
2003 server. Ipswitch has a document somewhere in their KB that describes
the migration process. Despite following it to a T I ended up
with a bunch of problems that ended up being attributed to incorrect
permissions. Mainly a lack of two sets of permissions on the main imail
folder:
The IUSR_machinename user, and the Network Service account should both
have full control on all of IMail files. So far that seems to have taken
care of most (not all) of our problems.

Re: ORBSIN: [IMail Forum] Route to another SMTP server on thesame machine?

2001-04-03 Thread Christian Heller

My boss gave me the ok to get another box - so it looks like the route I'll
be taking. (We are co-locating our servers and I was trying to avoid
additional co-lo charges, but our friendly ISP has agreed to waive the
charges!)

I have a feeling, only, that'd you be in the minority dircinon in
migrating from Imail to post.office.

Having a 2nd box such as IMGate for "smart relay host" gives you a
maximum of mail routing flexibility (which is a significant, but
still secondary, advantage to an IMGate type of addition to your mail
system).

If you absolutlely can't or refuse to do a 2nd box solution and
IMail, then I suggest VOPMail or Mailsite, or if you've got deep
pockets, CommuniGate Pro.

It's been long time on all the lists I follow that I've seen any
enthusiasm for post.office or its company, or even much discussion of
it. Sort off the radar for whatever reason. I think part of their
pb is or was their "per mailbox" pricing.

I think that IMGate only runs on FreeBSD (I need it for an NT box), but
 thanks anyway.

I am running two SMTP servers on the same machine.

The primary (IMail) is on port 25 and the secondary is on port 9090.

I am trying to get IMail to automatically redirect/forward all mail
addressed to a specific subdomain (secondary.mydomain.com) to the
 secondary
  SMTP server.

  I this even doable?

I don't think that is going to work. The problem is that (as far as I
know) IMail can't forward to a gateway on a different IP than port 25.
And,
I believe that IMail automatically listens to the SMTP port on all IPs on
the computer, so you couldn't use a different IP to accomplish this,
either.

Maybe someone will come up with a bright idea that might work...
