[IMail Forum] logs of admin changes?
Are there any logs kept that show when someone with admin rights has logged into the server and what changes they made? Anything for auditing planned in future releases? I don't remember hearing anything, but it would be handy in my situation. ~Susan -- Susan Doucette Information Technology Santa Cruz City Schools 405 Old San Jose Rd. [IMail Forum] Have I been hacked?
Yesterday I received an email from the IMail server : IMail detected a fatal error while attempting delivery. The messages causing this error have been orphaned in the IMail spool directory. Please contact Ipswitch Technical Support. So I emailed tech support, but in the mean time I looked in the spool and there's all these .SMD files. The From and Reply to have the following in them =?windows-1251?B?QWJiZXkgTmf0aw9uYWwgcGxj?= [EMAIL PROTECTED] The actual message is a phishing scam touting to be from Abbey National PLC. The From IP is 212.241.220.251. So I put the IP in the Kill file and denied it access in the SMTP control. And I deleted the .SMD files (thousands of them). I'm waiting to see if that will put a stop to this. My mail server is set up to Relay for local users only. So I can't figure out how this IP was able to relay thru Imail. I know that some of the messages got through because I'm getting bounce backs from yahoo and others. I'm using IMail 2006.22 (I think - would love to know how to find the exact version), but I've had IMail since v7.14 so it could be that I just never looked at changing that option. I've never had any problems being rejected as an open relay, no notice from abuse.net, etc. But just to be sure I'm changing the setting to addresses only. [IMail Forum] question about compressing files on mail server
My Windows 2003 mail server is getting low on disk space. I will be sending out an email to warn my users that I'm going remove the old mail from their inboxes when school is out, but in the meantime I'm worried that it will completely run out and lock up. Re: [IMail Forum] any one using IMail LDAP with Barracuda 300?
Thanks, Travis. The Barracuda was upgraded to the latest firmware last night and I could import IMail's userlist, but it means a lot more maintenance as I would have to make sure that every new account in IMail also got put into the Barracuda. I was hoping for something simpler (sigh!). So, is the problem that I have aliases for my domain, or for my users? Susan Doucette Information Technology Santa Cruz City Schools 405 Old San Jose Rd. Re: [IMail Forum] IMail and IPhones
Thanks! That's a good start. Maybe if they can tell me the error I can figure out the POP problem. Another question if I may. Is it possible to have an alias for our email domain? We have this very long domain name which everyone complains about, so I'm looking for an easy way to set up a short domain name and have it as an alias for the long one. Surely I can set an alias somewhere such that emails to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and emails to [EMAIL PROTECTED] both go to my users. Can it be done in IMail? If not, would I have to have it done on the DNS server? (We don't have our own DNS server.) Both? Re: [IMail Forum] Version 2006.21 question
I upgraded from 2006.1 to 2006.21 the third week of July. Since my users are school district personnel, I can't say summer is our busiest time and I only have @ 800 user accounts, so maybe my experience isn't typical. But IMail has been running since then with only 1 reboot. I have had 2 calls from people who couldn't get into WebMail and I walked them through clearing their caches (or using something other than AOL) and it worked after that. I too am getting the Information message in the Event Viewer (running on Win2003 server) mentioned in the previous post for Event Code 4005 - Forms authenticated failed for the request. Reason: The ticket supplied expired. etc. Would like to know what it means but it doesn't seem to have affected anything operationally (at least not yet). My logs indicate normal login activity (I don't know which are WebMessaging and which are email clients - would love to know if someone can enlighten me). I tested the new version on PCs and Macs all OS flavors and several mail client programs. My final conclusion is the improvements in WebMessaging are very worth the upgrade. [IMail Forum] upgrading to 2006.2
I'm a little nervous about upgrading IMail from 2006.1 to 2006.2 and want to make sure I do it correctly. I downloaded the upgrade and have read through the release notes and don't see any specific instructions for installing the upgrade. For example, do I need to shut down the IMail services currently running before running the install? Do I need to shut down the IIS services? If not, what happens if users try to access their email while I'm upgrading IMail? If any of you have done this upgrade and have suggestions, I would love to hear them. [IMail Forum] question
Interesting thing happened today with my IMail 2006.1. One of my accounts uses a Mac OS X and, instead of setting a vacation message in his WebMessaging preferences, he set a Rule in the Mac Mail client. This apparently caused the mail server to respond to all the emails in his inbox and other folders on the Mac (some going back several months) with the vacation message. Is this a known bug? I don't mind telling my Mac users to use WebMessaging for this, but I'm wondering if there's something else I should know. [IMail Forum] Email request with headers
Hi all, We're a school district running Imail 2006.1. As a public entity we have a legal requirement to turn over documents (including emails) when they are requested. We currently keep all the emails of our admin on the mail server. I'm looking for a way to provide emails between a date range, to certain parties, with headers intact from Imail (or any other utilities that may exist) since that is the request I have to answer. [IMail Forum] adduser and ldaper
Hi All, I would be very grateful if someone could give me some pointers about the adduser and ldaper utilities. I have used adduser to import my 900+ users but I was dissappointed that I could only import the user name, user id and password. I would really like to be able to import the organization as well as our users since we are a school district and the users are at different school locations. I have looked at ldaper, but frankly I can't make heads or tails of it. Is there more documentation on how to use it somewhere? Or has anyone had any experience importing users that might clue me in on how to accomplish what I want to do? Re: [IMail Forum] moving from Netscape to Imail
I have a similar situation. All I did was set the Forwarding address on the Netscape server to point to the IMail server and unchecked the POP3 box on the Mail page of the Manage Users feature. The purpose of this was to allow certain more technical users to "bang" away at the IMail server before I do the switch. I used the adduser utility to set these users up on the Imail server first. I don't know if that's what you want, but it's working okay for my test. byoung wrote: Hi, I presently have Imail running on one server. The server has a unique ip and the domain is 7oaks.org. [IMail Forum] 2 problems
Hi All, I'm testing out the evaluation version of IMail 6 on NT 4. I like it and it works fairly well except for the following anomalies. Every so often all the mail in my inbox dissappears. I'm sure that there's probably a setting somewhere that automatically deletes mail after so many days, but I just can't seem to find the setting. The other problem concerns sending mail to certain services. Email sent to addresses such as @aol.com or @yahoo.com are failing to connect after 20 attempts. (No other error message than that.) I know that mail sent to other sites is going through just fine. I've been trying to following the discussion on SMTP AUTH, but I'm not sure that would cause this problem. If anyone can point me to more information on these problems, I would be grateful.
