[IMail Forum] Postfix/Courier/Squirrel mail tips + tricks
I have postfix, Popper, and Horde IMP, solid combination, have had it running for almost a year now, not one single hour have I been down. I went down for 15 min once when my hosting company had a power issue, but other than that ~250 days uptime. No problems with viruses or spam when integrated with amavisd (clamav and spamassassin), and a full MySQL backend with web custom web account manager with domain administration, full privilege structure and everything. Email me at [EMAIL PROTECTED] if you want some info on my setup. -- Shaun Mickey 270net Technologies Phone: 301.865.9370 Fax: 301.865.9883 www.270net.com Internet/Technology Solutions for Business and Government -- -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Russ Uhte Sent: Friday, June 10, 2005 7:47 PM To: IMail_Forum@list.ipswitch.com Subject: Re: [IMail Forum] Fwd: IpSwitch IMAP Server LOGON stack overflow Michael Hoyt wrote: Are those of us running 7.15 vulnerable. I seem to remember an URL link in an earlier thread about this vulnerability that omitted version 7.15 in the list of vulnerable versions (perhaps that was an oversight). If 7.15 is vulnerable, will there be a hotfix or are we scr*wed? I have that POC code compiled now. If you want the exe, just drop me a line. It's very simple to test the DoS part. And you just need to setup a netcat session to test the reverse shell part. The exe is about 512K. I can assure you that 8.05 is vulnerable. But the reverse shell does not work on w2k sp4, which is all documented in the code. But that doesn't mean someone won't find a way to fix that. On Monday I will begin my process of moving to postfix/Courier/squirrel mail. If anyone has any tips they'd like to share, I'd sure like to hear them :) -Russ --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Declude Virus] To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/ To Unsubscribe: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/mailing-lists.html List Archive: http://www.mail-archive.com/imail_forum%40list.ipswitch.com/ Knowledge Base/FAQ: http://www.ipswitch.com/support/IMail/

Re: [IMail Forum] Postfix
It all depends on what your going to do. We use it in order to get out of the postmaster role for all of our web hosting clients. We set their domain Email up with a admin account and then let them manage their own Email accounts. This works very well with clients who have little or no experience as Email Admins. Before we switched we spent untold hours setting up or fixing client's Email accounts. We also market this feature as a reason to host with us. [IMail Forum] Postfix for one and all
If you have the cash to buy a new machine, and you need someone to put it together I would be willing to quote you a price, build the machine, install RedHat 7.1 plus Postfix, configure it, and ship it to you. You tell me the specs, I quote you the price plus shipping. Payment would need to be in advance. Additional hardcore tweaking could be done by Len Conrad later if you needed something beyond me. If you ever needed to reinstall RedHat 7.1 plus Postfix from scratch it would only take about 30 minutes if you follow my instructions, and the instructions are written for someone who has never worked with Unix before. I will quote a price for, and build Postfix machines running on RedHat 7.1 for anyone who is interested or in need, and I will throw in a free subscription to Postfixgate. The information will be available on www.postfixgate.com sometime this week. A member supported Anti-Spam Database for Postfix, Sendmail, and IMail.
