I could not duplicate your problem on my system. Maybe yours is
different? Tell us what OS is in use, language, and other
significant facts about the system.

Sure, but that syntax problem is for subject and not for the
destination id.
And I tried that too... it's not happening.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Is getting changed to

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Kindly let me know if you need any further details on the same.

Can you post your rule for public review?

It might be a simple problem of syntax and escaping as Gordon
suggested.

Re: [IMail Forum] forwarding problem

Can you post your rule for public review?

It might be a simple problem of syntax and escaping as Gordon suggested.

Let me explain my problem with more description.

I want few of my incoming mails to be forwarded to another account
and I want those mail to reside in my mail box too. For this, I created a
rule which search for the word in the body and if found, it forwards a copy
to the destination email id.

Now, there's a problem. Once I save and come out, it automatically
changes the destination email id from [EMAIL PROTECTED] to [EMAIL
PROTECTED]/com.
however, if I make only forward (ie. Not forward a copy but only forward)
this rule works properly. But in forward a copy to address, it automatically
changes the email id. It is not allowing me to put / in the destination
email id. It gives an error of invalid email address: There is an invalid
symbol.

	Any idea, how to proceed?

RE: [IMail Forum] Forwarding Problem

2005-06-17 Thread Dan Horne

In the SMTP service section of the Imail Administrator,
there is a checkbox somewhere (I don't know where in your version) that is
labeled "Refuse Null Senders" or similar. Uncheck that box and
restart the SMTP service.

For abuse, just create an alias and point it somewhere
(anywhere, mine all point to root). All you technically have to do is accept the
email, you don't have to read it. This alias needs to exist for each
domain you host on your Imail box.

You are sending from etechindia.com to
ideacellular.net. The message is accepted by ideacellular.net.
The "221 antispam.ideacellular" is from them and indicates that your message
was likely caught BY ideacellular.net as spam. Once ideacellular.net
accepts the message, it is out of your hands. It us up to them to make
sure that message gets through if their user wants it.You can have
the recipient contact ideacellular.net and find out exactly why the message
was caught as spam and/or have your address whitelisted. You may also
try to contact ideacellular.net yourself and let them know that you are
unable to send to their server. They can tell you why you are being
caught as spam and then maybe you can fix the problem on your end that
causes it, or you may be able to talk them into whitelisting
you.

According to DNSReport.com, your mail server looks
ok. You don't accept NULL senders and you need to fix that. You
don't have an abuse address, and you should fix that. I believe either
of those can get you blacklisted, although dnsstuff.com shows that you are
not. You don't publish SPF, which is no big deal, but you ought to
think about doing so.

You are sending from etechindia.com to
ideacellular.net. The message is accepted by ideacellular.net. The
"221 antispam.ideacellular" is from them and indicates that your message was
likely caught BY ideacellular.net as spam. Once ideacellular.net accepts
the message, it is out of your hands. It us up to them to make sure that
message gets through if their user wants it.You can have the recipient
contact ideacellular.net and find out exactly why the message was caught as
spam and/or have your address whitelisted. You may also try to contact
ideacellular.net yourself and let them know that you are unable to send to
their server. They can tell you why you are being caught as spam and
then maybe you can fix the problem on your end that causes it, or you may be
able to talk them into whitelisting you.

According to DNSReport.com, your mail server looks
ok. You don't accept NULL senders and you need to fix that. You
don't have an abuse address, and you should fix that. I believe either
of those can get you blacklisted, although dnsstuff.com shows that you are
not. You don't publish SPF, which is no big deal, but you ought to think
  about doing so.

use 8.20?? if you are covered under a support agreement then the upgrade is

Sorry if that sounded a bit harsh and/or
rude.I purely meant it in that whenever I have contacted Ipswitch for support
the first thing they always say is are you running the latest version?
. It just makes it easier support-wise to always try and run the latest
version. Most vendors wont help you with bugs in the older versions,
because thats why they released the new updates J

Well, that didn't help muchg! I checked some list mailing logs here
against the Queue name (Saved by Declude) and the MessageID (in the headers)
and don't see any logfile entries to help. However, IMail is not making up
an address!

Have you tried a brute force search for that address?

Use Search Files forward.ima, main.fwd, rules.ima, containing gizapril,
in c:\imail.

Any hits might give a clue. (forward.ima is the list of Forwards on the
General Tab, main.fwd is the list of forwards on the Info. Manager tab,
rules.ima is the list of Forwards on the Inbound Rules tab.

The only other place IMail saves data is in the registry. With Regedit,
navigate to HKLM/software/Ipswitch. Do an Edit Find, gizapril, check values
and data only (no keys or wholestring) and click OK.

What do you find?

Is there an easy way to discover all the e-mail addresses that people are
forwarding to and from which e-mail address it is being forwarded?

I actually have a problem where an e-mail address keeps bouncing back to me
when an e-mail is sent to a list, so I can't tell where it is forwarded
from. I looked through the e-mail accounts ONE by ONE - twice! I didn't
see the offending e-mail address - can it be forwarded some other way?

Thanks - Marc

Subject: [IMail Forum] Forwarding problem (who and where)

Is there an easy way to discover all the e-mail addresses that people are
forwarding to and from which e-mail address it is being forwarded?

I actually have a problem where an e-mail address keeps bouncing back to me
when an e-mail is sent to a list, so I can't tell where it is forwarded
from. I looked through the e-mail accounts ONE by ONE - twice! I didn't
see the offending e-mail address - can it be forwarded some other way?

Thanks - Marc
