Re: Re[2]: [IMail Forum] Imail, Declude, AV

2001-12-05 Thread IMail Admin at BC Web

Nearly all software vendors are looking for ways to manage the support
costs. The ironic part is that many vendors are implementing lists like
this one because it is cheaper than providing phone support. So Ipswitch is
just leading the way to next step: abandoning the support list as well.

Ipswitch employees used to take part in the list quite a bit. I even
received a call from the president of the company one time after posting a
negative response to a licensing change. The main problem with Ipswitch
is
they just don't listen to their customers anymore. They must have a few
really big customers who don't mind the price and provide their own
support.

I have used Imail since v3.0 and boy have things changed since then. I
 guess success spoiled them.

Daniel Donnelly used to answer a lot of questions and offer excellent
advice.

But he was subjected to merciless and terrible personal attacks about
the time that Imail 7 was released. To his credit he took an awful lot
of abuse without replying but he did stop posting.

I suspect the treatment he received by the list would make any ipswitch
employee think twice about posting.

2001-12-05 Thread NetQuick Mail Administrator

I think this forum is a great resource and I would like to point out
that despite whatever opinions have been expressed here Ipswitch has not, to
my knowledge, censored any of them. Imail as a product has it's fine
points, however it is still a developing product, under (I hope) constant
improvement. As long as they continue to make improvements to it and it
still provides a good value for the dollar my company will continue to use
it. Customer support techs will always be a bone of contention for most
companies. The salaries rarely attract the best of breed and on the rare
occasion it does, these individuals usually move up (rather quickly I might
add) the corporate ladder and out of the direct customer support arena. I
think we should all realize this is common to most companies, as the real
profits are in the sales and not in the after sales support. It is a bit of
a sad commentary on the industry as a whole. I could name a number of other
software/hardware venders who's customer base could benefit immensely if
only they had a forum half as useful as this one.

Well enough maudlin thinking and back to fixing what ever broke, blue
screened or whatever in the time it took you to read this.

TH That was Roger Heath. My sincere apologies for the misunderstanding. I
had
TH lumped Roger and Scott in with the Pro-Delude crowd which seemed to
be
TH flaming a product and company I have trusted for many years.

TH I think that everyone will agree that not every solution works for
every
TH customer. Delude obviously has had great success for many years,
providing a
TH service not available before now. Some people will continue to use
Delude,
TH while others will switch to ImailAV. Each has its pros and cons. I
know that
TH we will use the Imail AV, because it was built by IPSwitch and runs
with
TH Symantec, a world leader in AV.

TH There is a severe lack of good business in this world, and IPSwitch
has
TH always done good by me. When I find a company that works for me,and
with me,
TH I stick by them . As I said earlier, I don't know Delude, or ever
heard of
TH it before now. I am just defending IPSwitch, as they are unable to
defend
TH themselves (See the Harry Sack's Brother? emails - just as snide as
I have
TH been). Anyone defending IPSwitch is suddenly under suspicion.

TH Perhaps there will come a time when IPSwitch can respond to our posts
here
TH just as we do. Until then, I will defend IPSwitch, not for personal
gain,
 TH but for professional pride.

RE: Re[2]: [IMail Forum] Imail, Declude, AV

2001-12-04 Thread Smart Business Lists

Daniel Donnelly used to answer a lot of questions and offer excellent
advice.

But he was subjected to merciless and terrible personal attacks about
the time that Imail 7 was released. To his credit he took an awful lot
of abuse without replying but he did stop posting.

I suspect the treatment he received by the list would make any ipswitch
employee think twice about posting.

But why? Why not participate on your own list??? Seems like a very good
way
to create good will with your customers, and a simple way to deal with a
lot
of the repetitive questions you get on your other forum. It jsut doesn't
make sense to listen to the list if you are not going to help out.

RE: Re[2]: [IMail Forum] Imail, Declude, AV

2001-12-04 Thread Evans Martin

Ipswitch employees used to take part in the list quite a bit. I even
received a call from the president of the company one time after posting a
negative response to a licensing change. The main problem with Ipswitch is
they just don't listen to their customers anymore. They must have a few
really big customers who don't mind the price and provide their own support.

I have used Imail since v3.0 and boy have things changed since then. I
guess success spoiled them.

Small blurb:

Ipswitch provides this list as a forum for customers to share their
experiences and solutions. Although we monitor this list and
occasionally submit answers or product information, we typically do not
answer questions posted here.

Questions for Ipswitch Technical Support should be sent to the

 Hi,

I think it would be great if an Imail tech support person would help on
this list. I'm on the one for Vircom RADIUS, and their tech support
people on on there all time.

 Thanks,
 Andy Baldwin
