[Powerdevil] [Bug 486605] New: Add option to lock screen when screen turns off
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486605 Bug ID: 486605 Summary: Add option to lock screen when screen turns off Classification: Plasma Product: Powerdevil Version: 6.0.4 Platform: Arch Linux OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: bugs.kde.org.facelift...@passmail.net CC: m...@ratijas.tk, natalie_clar...@yahoo.de Target Milestone: --- SUMMARY In each power profile, there should be a way to automatically lock the computer when the screen is turned off by power management. Currently, you can only set a separate fixed timer for when screen locker automatically engages, but there's many downsides to this: 1. You can't have a different screen lock timeout for each power profile. 2. You can't have a setup where you can easily tell whether your laptop is locked when the screen is off. For example, my most common usecase is that I'll have my laptop on battery power with a short screen shutoff time. I'll have my laptop on a desk at work while I talk with nearby coworkers. During this time, the screen shuts off. If I later decide to go grab lunch, I have to wake up my screen just to check whether it properly locked. Most of the time, it isn't because my screen lock time is set to something longer than the power profile's screen shutoff time. I would like to have the ability to configure things so that if I see my screen is off, I can rest assured that it is locked. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Go to one of the power profiles in Energy Saving 2. Notice that there's no "When screen turns off, automatically lock screen" option OBSERVED RESULT There's no "When screen turns off, automatically lock screen" option EXPECTED RESULT There's a "When screen turns off, automatically lock screen" option SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS Operating System: Arch Linux KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.4 KDE Frameworks Version: 6.1.0 Qt Version: 6.7.0 Kernel Version: 6.8.9-arch1-1 (64-bit) Graphics Platform: Wayland Processors: 16 × AMD Ryzen 7 6800U with Radeon Graphics Memory: 30.7 GiB of RAM Graphics Processor: AMD Radeon Graphics Manufacturer: HP Product Name: HP EliteBook 845 14 inch G9 Notebook PC -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

Classification: Plasma Product: plasmashell Version: 6.0.4 Platform: Fedora RPMs OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: normal Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: plasma-b...@kde.org Reporter: sirmr...@067.xyz CC: k...@davidedmundson.co.uk Target Milestone: 1.0 Created attachment 169203 --> https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=169203=edit video of bug using konsole as an example SUMMARY Maximizing certain windows, closing the window, removing the windows maximization, then resizing the window results in the window becoming the wrong size. The problem occurs both with and without wobbly windows. Video example attached. I personally tested Discover, Konsole, Dolphin, Elisia, Thunderbird, and Element. Out of these, only Konsole, Dolphin, and Element were affected. Elisa and Discover seemed to forget that they were maximized when last closed. Thunderbird seemed to be unaffected. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Open an affected application. 2. Maximize the applications window. 3. Close the window while it is still maximized. 4. Reopen the application. 5. Return the window to its previous size by holding the title bar and dragging it down. 6. Grab the bottom or side of the window to resize it. OBSERVED RESULT Window is sized incorrectly because of not grabbed side moving. EXPECTED RESULT Side that is not grabbed does not move. Every time i go from 1 monitor to 2 monitors in 'Display Configuration' it place my left screen on the right of current screen. STEPS TO REPRODUCE 1. Have two physical monitors, but have only 1 enabled. 2. Enable the 2nd monitor in "Display Configuration" 3. It places it on the right. Drag the monitor to be the left screen 4. Disable 2nd monitor 5. Enable second monitor. It again puts it on the right. OBSERVED RESULT Second monitor always comes out on the right EXPECTED RESULT System should remember that the monitor was set to left initially. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486534 Nate Graham changed: What|Removed |Added CC||n...@kde.org Status|REPORTED|RESOLVED Resolution|--- |INTENTIONAL --- Comment #1 from Nate Graham --- Yeah, the current state here is currently pretty messy, because some products have a name that echoes the git repo name, and others use a user-friendly name. Neither is obviously correct, but the mix between the two styles is a bit awkward, yeah. Ideally we'd settle on one and use it consistently. The problem is that renaming products has a cost: it breaks people's saved bugzilla queries and search URLs, and we need to react to the renamed products in multiple places to change the names: individual git repos, as well as the shared git-repo-metadata project. Therefore, we have to weigh the disruption of changing anything against the disruption caused by the status quo. https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486599 Bug ID: 486599 Summary: Request for a use-native-DPI setting Classification: Plasma Product: kwin Version: unspecified Platform: unspecified OS: Linux Status: REPORTED Severity: wishlist Priority: NOR Component: general Assignee: kwin-bugs-n...@kde.org Reporter: mich...@actrix.gen.nz Target Milestone: --- I suspect there is a requirement for a simple setting that sets the desktop DPI to the native DPI of the display (primary display?). The consequence would be that one desktop pixel is equal to one physical pixel for all applications no matter how or when they were written or whether they are running in Wayland or XWayland. There are several use-cases where this brings distinct advantages: 1) When using the desktop for photography there would be an easy way to ensure that photos are rendered and viewed at 100% are viewed as they were captured by the camera. Currently the myriad of browsers, photo-editors, photo-viewers, and graphical tools vary in their awareness of scaling. Many are not scaling aware, and those that are vary in what they do about it. 2) When working with printed documents, there would be an easy way to preview the document at actual print size. This applies not only to photography, but to any situation where it would be desirable to proof a document at its real size. 3) When working with architectural, engineering, clothing-design, or other documents with measurable lengths, there would be a way to take rough measurements directly from the screen. When dealing with the above use cases, it could be argued that the user could determine their physical DPI and convert back to achieve a scale based on dividing by 96 DPI, but I would question why achieving a view at native DPI should be so difficult. It would be easier to tick a "native-DPI box", or to be able to specify a DPI directly. Such a setting may affect the way the desktop looks. Given the requirements presented in the above use cases, I think the the value of seeing documents at the right size may outweigh seeing the desktop elements correctly proportioned. There is already the relatively unknown QT_FONT_DPI which appears to work well with desktops scaled to 1.0. I've found using that with KDE6 in Wayland quite effective with no noticeable detrimental effects. Perhaps this could be exposed as a setting. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.

[Discover] [Bug 486037] Application without metadata defaults to license information as proprietary
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=486037 --- Comment #2 from Eamonn Rea --- It happens with Geany when listing the package manager release. I'll add an attachment. I believe there are other examples I found at the time of reporting, but I can only recall Geany, and I have confirmed the issue still exists with Geany. The screenshot I will attach following this comment was taken today. The Arch Linux packages page does correctly list Geany as having a license: https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/geany/ But in the case where Discover cannot pull it, I think it would be good to have some sort of case to handle as fallback. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
