Today before opening the bug issue I tryied to create a new configuration for kmail and with this brand new configuration it works. With my working configuration if I click on accept invitation, kmail simply doesn't react. There are five entries in the file, but only three show up by default in my address book. The two last ones in the file, which originally were the doctors with the long string of opening hours in the Notes field, don't appear unless the Notes field is either removed or edited to circumvent the bug in question. I added some information into the contacts' Notes field on where to look and what to do. On a side-note (and not really related): I noticed that the Skype-entry was missing from a contact. I looked at my internal address book and there it was present. So I exported that contact to find out the difference. As it turns out, KDE uses the field name X-SKYPE, whereas Android uses X-SKYPE-USERNAME (or maybe the other way around, I don't remember). When I delete ~/.kde/share/apps/kaddressbook/viewertemplates/ , an empty folder is recreated when starting Kontact. Then I started KAddressbook itself (not embedded in Kontact!) and... everything just works. It also creates the empty folder but the contact info, QR etc is shown. That should be enough I think. If not, move them to a different resource (your Local Folders f.e.) and back. You could of course also remove the offending flag with akonadiconsole. Either do that on the Resources tab, or use some SQL statement to remove the $SENT flag everywhere (DB console). The mails should then be uploaded to the server when the folder gets synchronized the next time.
