[LincolnTalk] Free Food for Health

2022-08-31 Thread Diana Abrashkin
I was sent a gift I can't use of 1,3 lbs of Complete Collagen Protein.
which is keto friendly... It's good, a Complete Collagen Protein,
which can boost your daily protein intake and keep your skin and soft
tissue healthy by adding this flavorless powder to any and all of your
favorite recipes.)
BTW, It's dairy free, Soy-free, Gluten-free and non-GMO. What's not to
like. There are many ways to be adding it to your morning
coffee/tea/juice. I am giving it away, knowing that you'll be happy
adding a scoop to tons of things, even replacing a meal with it, in a shake
or smoothie.
Enjoy!!! (Call me & you can pick it up anytime, OK?)

*Masks now optional in the Lincoln Public Library*

The Lincoln Board of Health (BOH) voted to rescind the town-wide indoor
mask mandate effective Monday, March 14, 2022, in response to substantially
improved and positively trending public health data, including Lincoln’s
high vaccination rate.

Residents with weakened immune systems or at increased risk of severe
Covid-19 disease because of age or medical conditions, or who have a
household member at such increased risk, are advised by the Lincoln BOH and
the Commonwealth’s Department of Public Health (DPH) to continue to wear a
mask when indoors other than in their home, even if they are vaccinated.

We encourage the public to continue to wear masks in accordance with their
own comfort level and in compliance with the DPH guidelines cited above.
Private establishments may continue to *require masks upon entry.*

*Updated indoor mask use recommendation as of April 14, 2022*: “Due to
recent data showing an increase in positive COVID-19 cases, the Board of
Health members voted last night to strongly recommend that people wear
masks in public indoor spaces until early May as we see how the infection
rate from the new BA-2 variant evolves over the next few weeks after spring
vacation.”

More information is available on the town website here.

[LincolnTalk] Spam cell phone calls

2022-08-31 Thread Alice Waugh
Has anyone else been inundated with spam calls from random numbers on your
cell? I've gotten 22 in the last 24 hours (most of them since this
morning). This is not a new phenomenon so I already don't answer calls from
numbers I don't recognize, but the pace has suddenly picked up
dramatically. What, if anything, can be done? This is why we got rid of our
land line — I guess it was only a matter of time that spam would migrate to
cell phones...

[LincolnTalk] Lincoln Awarded $100, 000 in MVP Action Grant Funds from the Baker-Polito Administration to Build Climate Resilience

2022-08-31 Thread Curtin, Jennifer
Hello Lincolntalk,

The Town is thrilled to announce it has received a $100,000 municipal climate
resilience grant to develop the Town's Comprehensive Climate Action Plan
(L-CAP). Awarded by the Baker-Polito Administration's Municipal Vulnerability
Preparedness (MVP) program, which is administered by the Executive Office of
Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA), these competitive grants support cities
and towns in identifying climate hazards, developing strategies to improve
resilience, and implementing priority actions to adapt to climate change.
Lincoln's is one of 73 projects to have received action grant funding in the
latest round of applications. This grant application was a monumental group
effort, thanks in large part to the 27(!) letters of support we received from
citizen groups, individual residents, and Town officials and departments.

The MVP program has awarded $100 million in funding and technical support to
communities across the state. With this year's awards, 97% of Massachusetts
cities and towns, or 341 municipalities, are enrolled. Created in 2017 as part
of Governor Baker's Executive Order 569, the MVP program pairs local leadership
and knowledge with a significant investment of resources and funding from the
Commonwealth to address ongoing climate change impacts like sea level rise,
inland flooding, storms, and extreme temperatures.

Climate Action Lincoln, a subcommittee of the Town's Green Energy Committee,
has been advocating for the development of a Climate Action Plan for several
years. In 2021, Climate Action Lincoln conducted extensive outreach to 12 Town
Boards and Committees and presented at the State of the Town Meeting on
November 1, 2021, and at the March 2, 2022 Annual Town Meeting on the urgency
to plan and prepare for climate impacts and mitigate carbon emissions. Lincoln
residents responded by unanimously voting to embark on a process to develop a
Climate Action Plan for the Town.

This plan will build on the Town's 2019 MVP Community Resilience Building
Workshop, which identified seniors, low-income residents, and people living
alone as more susceptible to extreme heat and other climate risks. The workshop
and corresponding data analysis also identified flooding, severe storms, and
droughts as top hazards. The planning process will center on inclusive and
equitable community engagement to identify priorities, goals, and strategies
for the Town to rapidly build community resilience, adapt to these climate
impacts, and develop actionable strategies to mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG)
emissions.

We are grateful to those who have shown support and assisted in this effort
thus far, and all members of the Community will have many opportunities to get
involved as the process moves forward. More information will be made available
in the coming weeks.

Best regards,

Climate Action Lincoln
