No drama - all is fair etc etc etc!

I am just two short for a project - if you ever find that you have
spare!

I am currently working on a 12 digit smart socket based project for other
displays - I've done a bit with Smart Sockets over the years - if you end
up going that route I'd be happy to compare notes.

Sorry bud, if I knew it was you…… Ummm, Ok, I would still have bid on them.
Heh.
Finally, after many years of waiting on them, they appeared on ebay (at least
that I have noticed) and barely got them because of the UK only listing.

I’m excited to make ‘something’ with them.

2024-04-28 Thread Michail Wilson
I won the auction which some might wonder how since they were not sold to the
USA.
I’ve been talking to a guy from the Ukraine and he sent me a link. I decided I
wanted them, but seller would not ship out of the country.

I’m in a Bitcoin forum/chat rooms and someone I’ve dealt with for a while had
me thinking….. I had him bid and pay for me.

Story on the auction… Not tested. Auction says 6, but 4 extra included just in
case. So, possibly 10. Since I’ve only ever had two, I decided to win it.
Talking to seller and it turns out they were part of the late John Smout’s
collection. Now I got really excited and thinking all 10 should be good.

Two days prior to having a friend bid on them had me worried, because he didn’t
answer messages. Uhhhg. He came through and manually bid for me.

So, a double shipping, and I will find out in about a month. Well, maybe
longer since I don’t have any project boards, etc.

My guess is about 1125 L total. Around $150 each assuming all are good. Not
considering the extras in the package yet.

Note: I picked up another of his auctions as well which was VFDs. IV-25’s

I've given up thinking what a good price is now that looks like about
$200 each when taking tax/currency conversion into account.

They are very nice tubes when lit up. They've gone to a good home

Re: [neonixie-l] ZM1350 smart socket

2022-08-27 Thread Richard Scales
I could not find this board when I needed some so - ultimately I designed
my own but to keep the footprint as small as possible I used two boards -
one on the back of the other.
I strongly suspect that the boards you have will follow the 'standard'
circuit design which used MPSA42's fed from a PIC 16F690 via 33K resistors
and then individual cathode resistors per segment.
Let me know if you need any more info.
'Check the Smart Sockets' group site for more information if needed -
including code for the PIC. https://groups.io/g/smartsocket

Nick: I was looking for a ZM1350 footprint and another helpful forum member
pointed me towards one that he had made in Easy EDA - see the thread here:
https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/neonixie-l/9AAGhfX7u40

I have just made up a 'smart-socket' style board and will report back once
they come back from fabrication - which could be a while as lead times are
currently extended due to the virus outbreak.

I will have a look at Eclipse as well, thanks!
I recently moved to VS Code and PlatformIO but still based on the Arduino
framework. As far as I know, PlatformIO also supports the ESP-IDF but I was too
lazy to switch so far.
I use EasyEDA, you can search for MY_ZM1350. I'm not sure but I think there is
only a (beta) direct export to Altium.

Just seen this - I'm using Eclipse with ESP-IDF - getting Eclipse set up
was a bit of fiddle, but it works extremely well. I'm not a huge Arduino
fan, so this was the best route for me as you get full access to the

PS. Do you have the layout for the ZM1350s as a package for Eagle or

Re: [neonixie-l] ZM1350 / IN-18 dual clock project

2019-12-30 Thread newxito

I’m not an EE and I don’t want to deal with disclaimers/liability, open
hardware, open source licenses and so on. It’s just a hobby for me. That’s
why I do not sell any kits or assembled boards and I do not provide any
schematics or gerbers. Sorry about that.

This forum is great and sharing ideas and basic information about the
projects is my way to give something back.

Speaking of ideas: I’m currently working on another two projects:

I’m trying to make a nixie clock driven by a C64, of course using commodore
basic with a lot of peeks and pokes :-) Because I don’t want to break an
original C64, I bought a clone. The good news: there is plenty of space
inside the case for the clock board and there is also space for the nixies
and a small hdmi display. The bad news: there are no serial/cassette/user
ports. Maybe I can use a USB port to drive the shift registers…

I’m also working on a 13 digits nixie calculator (IN-17) with clock
function, clicky mechanical keys and 3D printed old style case. By the way,
if anyone knows a small (IN-17 size) nixie with a minus sign, please let me
know.

If you're new to the esp32 and looking for a programming environment, I
would recommend platformIO which exists now as a visual studio plugin. You
can program the esp32 with arduino framework and libraries (basically in
C++). This was much easier for me than attempting to mess around with the
espressif IDF.
