Hi,

Are there any important pointers anyone would give to someone considering
Re-Installing Mandrake prior to doing so?

Thanks,

DO NOT even consider the 'Lnx4Win' install method. Here is a direct
quote from their own books:

"Linux-Mandrake

Install Guide

MandrakeSoft

January 2000
http://www.linux-mandrake.com

Chapter 5 : Using Lnx4Win

Lnx4Win is what you need if you don't want to partition your hard disk at
all.
This Program will create two files on your Windows partition which will
hold
your Linux-Mandrake system: one file for the data and one for the swap.
This
installation is undoubtedly the easiest, but, has its disadvantages:

it is slow in comparison with a real installation: loopback mounting of
a file (this is the method used) is not as fast as a filesystem located
on a dedicated partition;
if you have to re-install Windows, your Linux-Mandrake system will also
be lost...

However: this is a good way to discovery Linux-Mandrake without tampering
with
your hard drive.

This is not recommended by very many people with ANY experience on Linux,
nor
from any Newbies that know how easy it is for Windows to crash, if that
happens
then you guessed it, a REINSTALL of Linux will be needed. If you do a
regular
install with the repartitioning of your hard disk and Windows crashes, as
it is
good at doing, then Linux will still be there on its own partition
waiting for
your return. Your decision alone. GOOD LUCK"

don
I thought I knew that I knew what I thought
But now I know that what I thought I knew
Isn't what I know I think I thought I knew.
