[Evolution] Bug#844385: evolution: Hangs on startup: Saving User interface state
Package: evolution Version: 3.22.2-1 Severity: important Tags: upstream -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA512 Copy of upstream bug report https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=774448: Version: Debian evolution_3.22.2-1_amd64 Evolution hangs sometimes on startup. I suspect it starts successfully if there is no email to fetch, and always hangs if there is email to fetch. Screen shot in the hung state attached as "evolution-hung.png". It is not completely hung. File --> Quit prompts with "Close Evolution with Pending Background Operations?" after a wile, and "Close Immediately" does just that. Whether it restarts without hanging is a lottery, but my guess is if it has finished collecting email it is successful. Screen short with ie asking to exit with Pending Background Operations is attached as: "evolution-pending.png". It will from time to time hang in an identical fashion during normal operation. Utterly unrelated: when searching for a duplicate while filing I lose patience before getting to the end of 480 bugs. Many of those 480 bugs are for versions of Debian that are no longer supported. It would be really helpful if you did a bit of triaging. - -- System Information: Debian Release: stretch/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 4.8.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages evolution depends on: ii dbus 1.10.12-1 ii evolution-common 3.22.2-1 ii evolution-data-server 3.22.2-1 ii libc6 2.24-5 ii libcamel-1.2-593.22.2-1 ii libclutter-gtk-1.0-0 1.8.2-1 ii libecal-1.2-19 3.22.2-1 ii libedataserver-1.2-22 3.22.2-1 ii libevolution 3.22.2-1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.50.2-1 ii libgtk-3-0 3.22.2-1 ii libical2 2.0.0-0.5+b1 ii libicu57 57.1-4 ii libnotify4 0.7.7-1 ii libsoup2.4-1 2.56.0-1 ii libwebkit2gtk-4.0-37 2.14.2-1 ii libxml22.9.4+dfsg1-2.1 ii psmisc 22.21-2.1+b1 Versions of packages evolution recommends: ii bogofilter 1.2.4+dfsg1-8 ii evolution-plugins 3.22.2-1 ii yelp 3.22.0-1 Versions of packages evolution suggests: pn evolution-ews pn evolution-plugins-experimental ii gnupg 2.1.15-4 ii network-manager 1.4.2-2 - -- no debconf information -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- iQIcBAEBCgAGBQJYKo0UAAoJEKzUn4heVFJuHBsQALKYFsG+aX1GAuPBe7HM3oeK DdPND/LMJTwctUTYalmzV0DDTb6zPdTVsXH8H3epp/8hNEDcxqT/HOkJf6Ge74K+ 7CFdxybsZGU2Kp6JJxzR00vbJWmsTesq0pIQelzDrlPHDqCzhA+Edhm8BQXrt+bc IbcthkOnAXTQPE4qO2lvtvjbRUpwbhLq2nQFQ6CpwWc2BHAjLufQvIMli1GGsi1p EuSUSVtZsCGLmIsD4rF6YT/o2ZgCtB6kQSmhE3hC1qBYNXBci4kpA/aeR4g2HPX+ YJiRWhV8I1UexVAZOhOpJtrbEL+eJ4LzK7NCRX5xhihiSekOFTubhQ846VKnCYA3 VFRPfj1xaYJhWMj1sHakHSFF5Uhn7QloqJVWkRjyRBVsVczzt+ZmaR9n4iQBjZQx yb+YVTROgOwLMNwn8hEDKtcI7JSG8I1XZIQmnp3mZRgL9JkNlfg4YsyvKUlNum2x Tl35h59Z/ZMQi50hLr01oiidfcfHCFhqTE4bSiR//io26zoehkS6oID4DgR3bhYn GiUj/oSeEiR/0A4BA4NuKKYtXyPtuUXVG68RdDLuB107JsSAeI2iXPWzPOF45qAZ glrJg+UIvrKK9fbrdLYeYBGGLi0NtpSu3KE/caN9wPhf+KVtMlqyrrt53icaNpFB xhscbg8L0XGaOtYh5P8K =g9tb -END PGP SIGNATURE- ___ Pkg-evolution-maintainers mailing list Pkg-evolution-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-evolution-maintainers

[Evolution] Bug#549451: Work around
There are two work arounds to this that I can think of. One is to start evolution with the "--force-online" option: evolution --force-online Another on is to use Network Manager's "Edit Connections" option to create a bridge. Network Manager will then think there always is a network connection. signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part ___ Pkg-evolution-maintainers mailing list Pkg-evolution-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-evolution-maintainers
[Evolution] Bug#680169: evolution: Evolution hangs when retrieving email
Package: evolution Version: 3.4.3-1 Severity: normal I'm reporting a bug I've forwarded upstream. It's pretty serious (for me at least), because I it means have to kill evolution several times a day. This is the information I put in the upstream bug report: When retrieving mail evolution will hang occasionally (at least daily). I am able to reproduce the hang by pressing F9 (send/receive) a few (non-overlapping) times - typically 3. I am running evolution using the Debian Wheezy package, Debian version 3.4.3-1. The one unusual things about my setup is I have a large number of accounts - around 20 or so. Normally it is a mixture of imap/imaps/pop3/pop3s accounts, but I retested in after disabling all imap/imaps account and the hang still occurs. When it hangs some accounts have been collected successfully and some not - see attached screen shot. In the example in the screen shot there were no partially collected accounts, but this is not always the case. I have seen it hang midway (according to the progress bar) through collecting my gamil account, which is imaps. Here is an lsof of evolution when it is hung. The one notable thing about this is there are no open IP sockets, so it isn't hung waiting on a remote server: $ lsof -p 29157 COMMAND PIDUSER FD TYPE DEVICE SIZE/OFF NODE NAME evolution 29157 rstuart cwdDIR8,5 4096 10747906 /home/rstuart evolution 29157 rstuart rtdDIR8,5 40962 / evolution 29157 rstuart txtREG8,5 19232 13370951 /usr/bin/evolution evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5 22928 13107445 /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnss_dns-2.13.so evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5 9800 13110681 /lib/libnss_mdns4_minimal.so.2 evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5 31288 13376369 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libnotify.so.4.0.0 evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5 26528 13901738 /usr/lib/evolution/3.4/plugins/liborg-gnome-mail-notification.so evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5 22552 13901735 /usr/lib/evolution/3.4/plugins/liborg-gnome-backup-restore.so evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5 42984 13901482 /usr/lib/evolution/3.4/plugins/liborg-gnome-templates.so evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5 18768 13901478 /usr/lib/evolution/3.4/plugins/liborg-gnome-mailing-list-actions.so evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5 26600 13901135 /usr/lib/evolution/3.4/plugins/liborg-gnome-mark-all-read.so evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5 43144 13901728 /usr/lib/evolution/3.4/plugins/liborg-gnome-mail-to-task.so evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5 26912 13642610 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gdk-pixbuf-2.0/2.10.0/loaders/libpixbufloader-xpm.so evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5207968 13503361 /usr/lib/evolution-data-server/camel-providers/libcamelimap.so evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5 10936 13632750 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/pango/1.6.0/modules/pango-basic-fc.so evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5127760 13378832 /usr/lib/libgweather-3.so.0.0.6 evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5 26600 13901137 /usr/lib/evolution/3.4/plugins/liborg-gnome-calendar-weather.so evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5 18416 13901610 /usr/lib/evolution/3.4/plugins/liborg-gnome-prefer-plain.so evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5 59296 13895130 /usr/lib/evolution/3.4/plugins/liborg-gnome-evolution-caldav.so evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5 18336 13901169 /usr/lib/evolution/3.4/plugins/liborg-gnome-evolution-webdav.so evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5108216 13378395 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/librtmp.so.0 evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5167080 13371326 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libssh2.so.1.0.1 evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5211376 13369923 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libidn.so.11.6.8 evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5422856 13373936 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl-nss.so.4.2.0 evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5 31304 13378402 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/liboauth.so.0.8.1 evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5720384 13378404 /usr/lib/libgdata.so.13.2.0 evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5 34720 13901145 /usr/lib/evolution/3.4/plugins/liborg-gnome-evolution-google.so evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5231880 13901611 /usr/lib/evolution/3.4/plugins/liborg-gnome-vcard-inline.so evolution 29157 rstuart memREG8,5956512 13377618 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libgstreamer-0.10.so.0.30.0 evolution 29157 rstuart memREG

[Evolution] Bug#661587: evolution: Evolution uses SOCKS4 proxy when proxy is turned off in preferences
Package: evolution Version: 3.2.2-1 Severity: important Tags: upstream This bug has been forwarded to gnome bugzilla. This description is reproduced from that bug report: I upgraded to debian wheezy today, and in the process Evolution was upgraded to 3.2.2. In the process I switched away Gnome3 to another windows manager. After setting that up I ran Evolution for the first time and it refused to collect new emails. It variously complained about being disconnected, timeouts and occasionally the configured proxy not being a SOCKS4 proxy. Turned out it was going to our local http proxy for every connection, which of course refused to have anything to do with it. At the start Evolution preferences were set to use the system's proxy settings, but when I changed that to Direct it continued to happen. This is the bug. For what it was worth the System was _not_ configured to use a proxy in the ..gconf settings. That Evolution was trying to use a SOCKS4 proxy in the face of this is another bug, but probably not in Evolution itself. It turned out it was reading the proxy setting from the file $HOME/.config/dconf/user. Removing that file fixed the problem. I suspect that file is normally updated by Gnome3, but as I said I had switched away from that earlier and instead was editing the .gconf settings using gconf-editor which is I gather a sanctioned way of editing Gnome3 settings. This second bug may be that gconf-editor doesn't update .config/dconf/user. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_AU.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_AU.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages evolution depends on: ii dbus 1.4.18-1 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.41 ii evolution-common 3.2.2-1 ii evolution-data-server 3.2.2-1 ii gconf22.32.4-1 ii gnome-icon-theme 3.2.1.2-1 ii libatk1.0-0 2.2.0-2 ii libc6 2.13-26 ii libcairo-gobject2 1.10.2-6.2 ii libcairo2 1.10.2-6.2 ii libcamel-1.2-29 3.2.2-1 ii libcanberra-gtk3-00.28-3 ii libcanberra0 0.28-3 ii libclutter-1.0-0 1.8.4-1 ii libclutter-gtk-1.0-0 1.0.4-1 ii libcogl-pango01.8.2-1 ii libcogl5 1.8.2-1 ii libdrm2 2.4.30-1 ii libebackend-1.2-1 3.2.2-1 ii libebook-1.2-12 3.2.2-1 ii libecal-1.2-103.2.2-1 ii libedataserver-1.2-15 3.2.2-1 ii libedataserverui-3.0-13.2.2-1 ii libenchant1c2a1.6.0-7 ii libevolution 3.2.2-1 ii libfontconfig12.8.0-3.1 ii libfreetype6 2.4.8-1 ii libgail-3-0 3.2.3-1 ii libgconf2-4 2.32.4-1 ii libgdata130.10.1-2 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-02.24.1-1 ii libgl1-mesa-glx [libgl1] 7.11.2-1 ii libglib2.0-0 2.30.2-6 ii libgnome-desktop-3-2 3.2.1-3 ii libgtk-3-03.2.3-1 ii libgtkhtml-4.0-0 4.2.2-1 ii libgtkhtml-editor-4.0-0 4.2.2-1 ii libgweather-3-0 3.2.1-1 ii libical0 0.44-3 ii libjson-glib-1.0-00.14.2-1 ii libmx-1.0-2 1.4.1-1 ii libnotify40.7.4-1 ii libnspr4-0d 4.9~beta5-2 ii libnss3-1d3.13.1.with.ckbi.1.88-1 ii libpango1.0-0 1.29.4-2 ii libsoup-gnome2.4-12.34.3-1 ii libsoup2.4-1 2.34.3-1 ii libsqlite3-0 3.7.10-1 ii libx11-6 2:1.4.4-4 ii libxcomposite11:0.4.3-2 ii libxdamage1 1:1.1.3-2 ii libxext6 2:1.3.0-3 ii libxfixes31:5.0-4 ii libxi62:1.4.5-1 ii libxml2 2.7.8.dfsg-7 ii psmisc22.15-2 Versions of packages evolution recommends: ii bogofilter 1.2.2+dfsg1-1 ii evolution-plugins 3.2.2-1 ii evolution-webcal 2.32.0-2 ii spamassassin 3.3.2-2 ii yelp 3.2.1+dfsg-1+b1 Versions of packages evolution suggests: ii evolution-dbg none ii evolution-exchange 3.2.1-2 ii evolution-plugins-experimental 3.2.2-1 ii gnupg 1.4.11-3 ii network-manager 0.9.2.0-2 -- debconf information: evolution/kill_processes: * evolution/needs_shutdown: ___ Pkg-evolution-maintainers mailing list Pkg-evolution-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-evolution-maintainers
[Evolution] Bug#583635: evolution: selects wrong From: address when replying to an email
Package: evolution Version: 2.28.3-1+b1 Severity: normal Tags: squeeze I have multiple email accounts set up in evolution, each obviously enough with a different email address. In prior versions of evolution when I hit reply to a message it automagically selected the appropriate From: address from my list of email accounts. I presume it did this by looking through the list of recipients in the email I was replying to for an email addresses in evolutions accounts list. In any case, as of my upgrade to squeeze, it has stopped selecting the correct From: address.
