In any case you should file a bug instead of contacting the list:

Actually but #472302 already has a request for a .desktop file with a patch.

The maintainer looks pretty inactive. I am going to see if they are MIA
and we can see what can be done about this package.

 Hi

Your package only lists a mailing list as maintainer and no real person.
Please don't make the life of the MIA Team harder and put a real person
as maintainer or at least as uploader.

 Cheers

Luk,

It's a wreck. I'll try to get this fixed and uploaded shortly and add
myself as an uploader.

Also, CCFLAGS is not modified to include that option, so it doesn't

  dh_clean

Besides that you didn't mention that change in neither debian/changelog
nor the commit message, did you test it if it doesn't leave files in the
soure dir? Did you do a complete build, a clean and then build the
source package again to take a look at if it does give you a different
 result?

  So long,
 Rhonda
Doh, honestly that shouldn't have been committed. I need some advice on
that package. It currently does (well did) the make distclean but there
is no distclean target until it's patched so it actually fails on the
initial build unless you make it make clean. Subsequent builds seem to
fail entirely because it seems to wipe all of the autotools files.

Unfortunately it's kind of a work in progress because of these issues.

Thanks,

Could you stop using install directly and use dh_install* instead? Pretty

Also it is considered good practice to register desktop files (via dh_desktop

take care, it does not install the file, it just registers it)

OK, you win, sorry. I'll update for dh_install.

I thought I had added dh_desktop but I'll check that out and add.

This would match also the following:

 http://www.clanlib.org/download/releases-0.8/ClanLib-12.string.tgz

 It should be
 http://www.clanlib.org/download/releases-0.8/ClanLib-([\d\.]+)\.tgz
if you want to limit the version to digits and the dot character.

The way that Rhonda explained it to me, because the . is inside the []
class it matched only . and didn't need escaped. I'm not a regexp
master by any stretch so I just need confirmation one way or another.

This is not a comment per se, just a question.
Are you aware which are the differences between the different levels of
debhelper compatibility and if not, where you can find out about those?

I couldn't honestly tell you that I know every difference but yes, they
are in the debhelper manpage. In this case though, I didn't bump compat
someone else did, I just bumped the debhelper build-dep to match what
they bumped it to to get rid of the lintian warning.

Sorry. To be honest I am never sure how verbose to get in commit logs.

Well, the problem was that this change was not mentioned at all in the commit
log (although, in all fairness, was mentioned in the debian/changelog).

IIRC there is a tool that allows to commit with the appended changes in
debian/changelog, so all you have to do is document properly in the changelog
itself. I think sam is using that, maybe he can help with the name of the
 utility.

I have started copying my changelog entries into the commit log. If
there is a util for this, excellent.

I wonder if when nostrip is *not* provided if this is fixed. Did you test
 that?

I am pretty sure I did but I will verify.

Please do. I have a gut feeling this is exactly as I suspect.
When can I expect a result of the test? Is wednesday evening a good
 deadline[1]?

Looks like you can go ahead and revert this. I get the same result with
the -s, no -s, and DEB_BUILD_OPTS=nostrip so I'm a little confused at
this point.

Also, wouldn't using dh_install be a better solution instead of mixing
 debhelper
 stuff with non-debhelper stuff?

Again, I'm never sure how much to go hacking up the packages. This was how
 it's already done.

Well, nothing stops you from improving this, maybe after a heads-up on the
 list
that you intent to do this clean-up? And if nobody objects, go on with the
change ;-) (/me is taking advantage of your ethusiasm and trying to lure you
 into doing some clean-up work :-D )

1.) Well the feedback loop isn't the greatest but I will try. 2.) As
I stated when I joined, I'm happy to do whatever so if we need some
cleanup work, just point me at them.

OK, it helps when using the right option to test. This actually does
work as I intended it just helps when using DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS, not
DEB_BUILD_OPTS.. So the commit is OK.

I'll see about cleaning up gravitywars to use dh_install.

I agree that the packaging seems odd but since monsterz depends
monsterz-data and monsterz-data depends python and python-pygame, I'm
not sure how you would ever end up with monsterz installed without
python or pygame.

Bug#432015: 436008 Doesn't seem to help here

2007-10-20 Thread Barry deFreese
436008 seemed to be solved by stopping the call to SDL_INIT_EVERYTHING.

Whichwayisup doesn't seem to use SDL directly at all, therefore my guess
would be an issue with pygame in Etch. It handles the SDL bindings. I
don't see any calls to SDL_INIT_EVERYTHING in the unstable version though.

Don't know if that helps any at all..
