Wormus of prey and Debian

2006-12-14 Thread Gonéri Le Bouder
Hi,

We, the Debian Games Team, wish to see wop in Debian. But saddly we have a
major issue with the sound files that come from Team17's Worms and want to
remove them. We are no allowed to publish them.

Do you have planned to purge these files? If so, Wormux sounds should be a
good alternative.

Today, wop works fine without these. Do you have an objection if we release
wop 0.4.3 in Debian without these files?

The discussion on our mailing list:

FunnyBoat and Debian

2006-12-31 Thread Gonéri Le Bouder
Hi,

I want to package Funny Boat for Debian. The source are under GPL which is
fine but the medias are under Creative Common. Sadly Creative Common have
issues with the Debian Social Contract and its Debian Free Software
Guidelines.

Are you interested by a package and, if so, is it possible for you to change
this license to a BSD license for example?

Can't these be integrated into the upstream build system?
It is but the data files are needed to complete the installation and I
don't want to hack the scons files just for this. The src and data

OK, but this gives me an idea ...

should be copied in the same directory to complete correctly upstream
  install process.

And the idea is to add a supplemental games policy check for our
packages in the autobuilder[1][2], so that we make sure we don't
diverge too much from the upstream code and we make sure we give
 them back patches we have.

The check might roughly do something like:
 - - count the files in debian/patches, if any, and warn if their
 number is too big
 - - compute the size of the debian/patches directory and warn if their
 cumulated size is too big
 - - warn when the diff from one package is too big (with means to
define what is normal, probably through a autobuilder configuration
or some svn property associated to the package)
 - - or warn when the debian diff.gz makes a leap in size from one
release to another (this would have to be persistent somehow, and
should be overriddable through svn somehow, so maintainers can have
a way to say I have checked the leap and is ok)
IMO, this depend to much on the package context and it'll be hard to
create a good check script for that.

P.S.: BTW, isn't it high time to make a tools area in our repo and
 move the autobuilder[2] there? Gonéri?
Absolutly.

Cheers,

  Gonéri

Hello Pierre,

I don't think it's a bug but probably a limitation of your OpenGL
driver.

Which graphic card/driver do you use and how much memory do you have on
it?
Can you try: glxinfo -l|grep GL_MAX_TEXTURE_SIZE

Maybe we should add a check in the wrapper.

if ! glxinfo | grep direct rendering: No; then
zenity --error missing direct rendering --text You're OpenGL installation

 Hi!

sauerbraten segfaults on my PowerBook G4 no matter if I start it with
-f (then I receive a bit of output) or not. Please find attached an
 strace and gdb bt output.

If you have any further hints how I can help (propably you want to
offer a -dbg package?) just let me know.
Hi Rhonda,

Can you check if you still have the problem with mesa 7.0.1-2?

Let me know what other info might be helpful ...
dreamchess works fine with my intel card so I think it's a driver issue.

goneri | Hi rivo, I've a problem with Boson in Debian
http://bugs.debian.org/439973 , can I have your opinion about it?
rivo | goneri: lack of current opengl context might indeed be a problem
rivo | I don't remember anymore why boglInit() was called very early at
startup, before there was any opengl context, but I think there was a reason for
 it
rivo | oh, I think we dlopen the opengl library to load the symbols which
obviusly has to be done before the context can be created
rivo | the solution might be either to first dlopen the library, load
necessary symbols to init context, init context and then resolve rest of the
 symbols
rivo | or to use something like glew to resolve them for us (glew doesn't
dlopen the library though, so I'm not sure about it)
rivo | but... with boson development being inactive lately, I'm not sure
if it would be fixed anytime soon as it's not a trivial fix :-(
