Bug#447641: update-manager: work-around
Package: update-manager Version: 0.68.debian-3 Followup-For: Bug #447641 Some old update-manager was using /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/UpdateManager and this directory was not removed during an upgrade. Just remove this directory and update-manager should work again. The new files for this python component are located in /usr/share/python-support/update-manager/UpdateManager I think this work-around shoud be put in the README or the old dir should be removed on upgrade (is that allowed by the debian policy?). Bug#456526: gnome-system-tools: network setting static ip address doesn't work
Package: gnome-system-tools Version: 2.14.0-3 Severity: important Open Network manager and try to set a static ip address for your LAN network device. it will result in a dhcp anyway steps: 1) open network (System - Administration - Networks) 2) set a static DNS (say 192.168.1.2) and some DNS 3) clik ok 4) verify your network doesn't have that IP and doesn't use the DNS you provided! It use dhcp ones work around: edit /etc/network/interfaces # The primary network interface allow-hotplug eth1 iface eth1 inet static address 192.168.1.2 netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1 auto eth1 as you see there's an auto eth1 that shouldn't be there! simply remove or comment it then open /etc/resolv.conf and manually set your DNS issue the command ifdown eth1 ifup eth1 or use whatever ethX you have the bug is important becouse people who don't know how to manually set their network will be puzzled by this behavior and will not know what to do! Bug#456541: Unplugging causes laptop to suspend
Package: gnome-power-manager Version: 2.20.2-1 Severity: normal --- Please enter the report below this line. --- Hi, I have a Thinkpad T42p. If I unplug the AC power, the laptop suspends. I can't find the reason by looking at the scripts being called. The attached file is the output of daemon.log over a suspend/resume cycle caused by the unplug event. I've 'solved' the problem by selecting 'Do Nothing' on the 'On Battery Power' of the g-p-m preferences, so that now the computer suspends automatically only when on AC. Any ideas?
