Bug#333164: /usr/share/java/asm-1.5.3.jar: new upstream version available

 Hi

 there are libasm-java versions available
(http://forge.objectweb.org/projects/asm/) could you please update the
 package?

No, ASM 2.0 and 2.1 are binary imcompatible to 1.5.x. Its not possible
to update this package to 2.x. The new upstream version needs to get
packaged on its own as separate package as many applications/libraries
still depend on ASM 1.5.x. Wolfgang Baer is working on this already.
It just needs some time.

Cheers,
Michael

Hi

there are libasm-java versions available
(http://forge.objectweb.org/projects/asm/) could you please update the
package?

Hi Alexander,

this is not possible as asm is used by groovy. You refer to the
new major upstream release 2 which is not compatible with this one.

This needs to be packaged as a seperate package e.g. libasm2-java
and we will consider this.

Regards,

Wolfgang
