Bug#432648: eclipse: FTBFS [powerpc]: /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -ljawt

2007-07-11 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
Package: eclipse
Version: 3.2.2-1
Severity: grave

Hi!

The 3.2.2-1 version of eclipse doesn't build on powerpc anymore it
seems. See [1]. As it did build on that architecture and a package of
it is in testing this is a regression.

Please fix it, or get the powerpc package dropped by the ftp masters
(the former is far more the way to go, though). Maybe it is just a
missing Build-Depends, I'm not sure.

 So long,
Rhonda

Bug#396170: tomcat5.5 depends on ecj-bootstrap

2007-07-11 Thread Michael Koch

Because jasper-compiler-jdt.jar is the Eclipse compiler. We shouldn't
 duplicate code.

I agree that it shouldn't be a hard dependency though. There should probably
be an alternative dependency on an appropriate virtual package.

Moreover ecj-bootstrap should really be used as a bootstrap compiler only.
 From the package description:
This bootstrap version should be used for uploading initial versions of
packages which are a dependency of Eclipse and build with ECJ.

Either the decsription should be fixed or the package renamed, or replaced
 with something more suitable.

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=421621 got fixed in
unstable. I think it should now be possible to depend on libecj-java and
use that.

Cheers,
Michael

libjcalendar-java - package ownership.

2007-07-11 Thread Paul Cager
Hi Eric,

Can I just check that you intended to donate libjcalendar-java to the
pkg-java team? It's in the svn but never made it into an upload.

If that's OK then I will merge Torsten's NMU into svn and produce a new
upload to record the pkg-java maintainer.

Thanks,
Paul
