Hi.

Is anything happening here?
It's quite embarrassing for Debian to only have such an outdated  
version of Eclipse (which is nearly identical to not having it at  
all), or no or only very old versions of the major plugins.

Heh, distributions can't feel embarrassment, only people can :P

If *you* feel embarrassed, it is pretty easy to relieve yourself from
this feeling.
Just devote a week (or two) from your life and do what's left to be done :)

As long as nobody has the free time / skills / persistence required
for a decent package
(eclipse is not trivial) there won't be one, it is that simple.
