Re: Sesame2 backend for soprano

2009-09-22 Thread Christopher Bertels

On Monday 21 September 2009 22:13:37 Marcus Better wrote:
It's up to you, but if you use git it is a good idea to keep separate
branches for upstream sources and debian packaging.

Yeah, makes more sense. I just put it all together for now, since i simply
wanted to keep track of changes. The git repository was mainly just a
temporary work repository until I've got it all working.

Most pkg-java team-maintained packages use the alioth svn repository. We
commit only the debian/ directory, and use svn-buildpackage with the
mergeWithUpstream option. So there is usually no mirroring of upstream
sources. (Partly because svn cannot handle that nicely.)

If you prefer git (like I do!) then you can take a look at git-svn and
topgit to manage separate upstream and debian branches. (I do that for the
 testng package.)

I prefer git as well.
Oh, before I forget. Something I've wanted to ask: Is there any interest in
taking the packages and officially make them part of Debian? We'd like to see
something like that, since I'm currently only working as an intern at
Intevation GmbH and I suppose other people would also like to use Nepomuk
with Sesame2 as a backend. I will of course clean up the packages and prepare
them however is needed to be included as an official package.

By the way: I've managed to build my Sesame2 packages and Soprano, just
getting some errors when starting Nepomuk right now. I will look into it and
tell you more once I have it running correctly.

Cheers,
Christopher.

Re: Sesame2 backend for soprano

2009-09-22 Thread Christopher Bertels
Hi,

I've got a buildable version ready, you can get the packages here:

http://files.kolab.org/apt/sesame2/

It's still not fully finished (need to clean up most packages - like adding
copyright etc...)

When starting Nepomuk, Sesame2 seems to get started as the storage backend,
but then I get an error (see attachment). Maybe anyone knows what it causing
this? I will look into it more tomorrow.

Oh, it seems that libaduna-appbase-java depends on liblogback-java-0.9.9.
There's only liblogback-java-0.9.15. I guess it's an easy fix in the
aduna-appbase package. Will look into that as well. For now I simply copied
logback-core-0.9.9.jar and logback-classic-0.9.9.jar into /usr/share/java.
Trying to make debian package of version 0.9.9 gave me some build errors. It
needs libslf4j-java version 1.5.0 (not available) and so I think it would be
easier to change the aduna-appbase package (I think it only was one little
thing that caused the error - not sure anymore).

I find the error when starting Sesame a little puzzling, since I pretty much
got the same versions of all the dependencies I think. Also, the jar file in
the original ubuntu package (soprano-backend-sesame) seem pretty much
identical.

Hopefully, it's just a small thing causing this error.

I would love to hear some feedback, if anyone of you would like to try this
stuff out.

Cheers,
Christopher.

Bug#547969: ivy jar not added to ant lib

2009-09-22 Thread Onkar Shinde
Ant upstream authors recommend using classpath attribute for optional
ant tasks when defining the task in build.xml.[1] Hence the symlink
should not be present in ant's library. Also the symlink modifies the
default classpath of ant which will cause problem if user wants to use
another version of ivy outside the system installation.

I agree with Onkar. There are several ways to make additional classes
for tasks know to ant. Polluting Ant's lib-directory is one of the
worst ones.

I tend to tag this bug as wontfix but I will wait some more days for
more opinions.
