Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in sid, your package failed to build on i386.

This rebuild was done with gcc 4.3 instead of gcc 4.2, because gcc 4.3 is now
the default on most architectures (even if it's not the case on i386 yet).
Feel free to downgrade this bug to 'important' if your package is only built
on i386, and this bug is specific to gcc 4.3 (i.e the package builds fine with
gcc 4.2).

Bug#476067: eclipse: FTBFS: build takes a very, very long time (or just blocks?)

2008-04-14 Thread Lucas Nussbaum
Package: eclipse
Version: 3.2.2-5
Severity: important
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Usertags: qa-ftbfs-20080413 qa-ftbfs
Justification: FTBFS on i386

Hi,

I haven't managed to build eclipse recently. I build on a quad-opteron,
so I wouldn't expect it to take more than 8 hours (which it does).

Is there something that could be done to make it faster to build, or
should I just exclude eclipse from my rebuilds?

In the past, I could build eclipse in less than 1 hour.

Thank you,

 Does your build uses fakeroot?

Yes

From my experience this only happends with fakeroot. But its not 100%
reproducible either. I looked into this sometime ago and I'm really
out of ideas for this issue.

Erm, is it worth investigating, or will you move to icedtea?

Lucas, you already reported this as #439468, and I already reassigned
it and merged it with the other FTBFS that gjdoc is causing. I don't
suppose your scripts could refrain from filing further bugs on the
subject? If you feel there should be a serious bug filed against my
package, could you assign the existing ones back, with justification,
 rather than filing new ones.

My script doesn't file any bug. I dunno why you think so. All bugs are
filed manually.

Your package failed to build again in a sid chroot updated yesterday. In
the same chroot, libcsv-java, libgtk-java, and gcj-4.2 built fine (all
of them used to fail because of gjdoc).

I'm not sure if the bug is in gjdoc or libmatthew-java, but I'm sure
that there was/is still a bug.

Interestingly, I just rebuilt your package on my laptop, and it built
fine *despite* a java.lang.NullPointerException from gjdoc.

Looking at the failure log more closely:
javadoc is called in 'debian/rules build', and this call resulted in a
java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused (internet is not
accessible from the systems where I run the build). But it seems that
this exception is ignored somehow.
Then javadoc is called again in 'debian/rules binary', this time
resulting in a java.lang.NullPointerException. This one seems fatal.

In the build that suceeded (on my laptop), javadoc is only called once
in 'debian/rules build'. It's never called in 'binary'.

Any idea why this behaviour differs like that?

2007-05-10 Thread Lucas Nussbaum
Package: jetty
Version: 5.1.10-2
Severity: serious
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Usertags: proposed-orphan

Hi,

While reviewing packages that were not included in Etch, your package
came up as a package that should maybe be orphaned by its maintainer,
because:
 * RC bug opened for ~200 days with no answer from the maintainer
 * new upstream release available

If you think that it should be removed from Debian instead of being
orphaned, please reply to this bug and tell so.

If you agree that it should be orphaned, sending the following commands
to [EMAIL PROTECTED] should do it (after replacing nn with
this bug's number):

severity nn normal
reassign nn wnpp
retitle nn O: jetty -- Java servlet engine and webserver
thanks

For more information, see
http://www.debian.org/doc/developers-reference/ch-pkgs.en.html#s-archive-manip
http://www.debian.org/devel/wnpp/

If you disagree and want to continue to maintain this package, please
close this bug, preferably in an upload also fixing the other issues.

Thank you,

this is related to the lack of network on the nodes somehow?)

Ok, I investigated it further. First, on i386, it seems to fail

About the archive rebuilt: The rebuilt was done on about 30 AMD64 nodes
of the Grid'5000 platform, using a clean chroot containing an etch i386
environment (not unstable). Internet was not accessible from the build
systems. The builds were processed as root.

About Grid'5000:
Grid'5000 is an highly reconfigurable experimental Grid platform
gathering 9 sites and featuring a total of 5000 CPUs. It serves as a
testbed for research in Grid Computing. See https://www.grid5000.fr/

It is important to note that the build did not fail each time: I built it 3
times, and it failed 2 times. So it is likely to be caused by a race condition
or something.

Bug#395525: rhino: FTBFS: fails to build if no network access is available

2006-10-27 Thread Lucas Nussbaum
Package: rhino
Version: 1.6R2-1
Severity: serious
Justification: FTBFS

Hi,

During a rebuild of all packages in etch, I discovered that your package
failed to build on i386.

Relevant parts:

/build/root/rhino-1.6R2/toolsrc/org/mozilla/javascript/tools/debugger/build.xml:

The system I was building has filtered network access. Outgoing HTTP
requests were rejected during the build:
IN= OUT=eth1 SRC=10.69.1.41 DST=72.5.124.55 LEN=60 TOS=0x00 PREC=0x00

URGP=0

For many reassons, it is a bad idea to require network access during
builds. Quoting #393900:
- It's a privacy concern: without being asked, some information about
  the system is being sent to a remote host;
- It should be possible to autobuild the package on a buildd with no
  network access.
- The build has a high probability to fail lateron because of the
  referenced host (temporarily) disappearing.
