Package: libopenide-util-java
Severity: minor
Hi,
two things at once as discovered under
http://packages.debian.org/sid/libopenide-util-java
1. the description explains where the package comes from, but
not what it actually offers for functionality, that's quite
impossible to assess if you might need the package. The introduction on
the homepage would already be much more helpful:
The NetBeans Platform is a generic framework for Swing applications. It
provides the plumbing that, before, every developer had to write themselves
— the plumbing — saving state, connecting actions to menu items, toolbar
items and keyboard shortcuts; window management, and so on.
This description is wrong, as this library is not netbeans platform.
I'll try to write a more informative description, but this task is not
easy, because this packages is really _very_ miscellaneous.
A summary of the description under
http://platform.netbeans.org/description.html
could be of course even more helpful.
2. the Homepage link http://openide.netbeans.org/ is outdated, it's now
http://platform.netbeans.org/
For what I know, there is no updated homepage for this library.
platform.n.o is wrong and I couldn't find anything updated, so I prefer
to keep an out-of-date homepage rather than giving a false information
or no information at all.
3. The open question is if the change of project name justifies a change
of package name...
No, it doesn't. openide-util is exactly the name this package has upstream.
Thanks, Giovanni.
