 Hi,

my haploview ITP needs JavaHelp which is distributed as a GPL jar from
 Sun at
 https://javahelp.dev.java.net/.

Has anybody of yours worked on that already?

No ITP? Go and file one ;-)

If there isn't one, I'm about to file it!
I'm quite keen on this and just about cleared all the stuff
off my desk...

Another issue is the JIMI Java Imaging Library from
http://java.sun.com/products/jimi/. Is there any .deb bringing it?

JIMI is Sun Microsystems, Inc. Binary Code License, so it's non-free.
It's super great that Sun goes freesoftware, but all their libs are
 not! :'(

I don't know how we can ask or who?...

 .. Maybe Tom Marble ;-)

Yes... please bring this kind of stuff to my attention.
My goal is to liberate all this stuff (including the 3D stuff)...
But, I sometimes get distracted by my day job in performance
(so just keep bugging me!).

PS: See you at the FOSDEM Tom ;-)

Can't wait!

(The canonical place to avoid work duplication / to reuse work on
Debian packages should be WNPP. :)

Done that, have not found anything, asked google, too, which is pretty
 good at
finding ITPs - nothing. And I also checked the pkg-java SVN. Admittedly,
 no
is a not overly unexpected answer but I still hope that I do not need to
 do
 it myself :o)
I expressed recently the possibility that I do it, but I'm privately and
professionally rather overloaded, and I did not create an ITP on purpose
for this reason, i.e. the field should be free for you.

Eric

PS: if you create an ITP, you might want to let me know: I gathered some
emails from the JPackage mailing list, concerning packaging of JavaHelp,
which might be of interest to you.
