Matteo F. Vescovi joined Debian Multimedia Maintainers team

2011-08-06 Thread Alessio Treglia
Hi all,

right few minutes ago, Matteo F. Vescovi joined the Debian Multimedia
Maintainers team on Alioth, willing to work on the packaging of
libmp4v2: please, give him a warm welcome!

Matteo, have you already checked our policies [1]?
There are some other packages you intend to bring under DMM team's umbrella?

Thanks a lot for your trust and support! :-)

Matteo, have you already checked our policies [1]?

Yep... and I'm already used to those guidelines due to gtkpod packaging.
git-buildpackage is a great tool, but I'm having some issues in building
gtkpod with it... don't know why. I'll check soon.

Not at the moment, but in case I'll let you know about any new request

Bug#636847: audacious-plugins: Build doesn't define the exact set of features enabled

2011-08-06 Thread Adrian Bunk
Package: audacious-plugins
Version: 2.4.4-1
Severity: important

I did a rebuild of audacious-plugins, and since I had libnotify-dev
installed that got me the notify plugin built (and a dependency on
libnotify).

Please either build-depend on libnotify-dev or build with --disable-notify,
and check if there are other features where a rebuild might result in a
different set of features.

Bug#630787: can not update/install morituri because of a syntaxerror

 Closing *again* as a non-bug.

I follow, but here's my 2 cents from userland...

If a 'python2.3' package existed in the current Debian distros, then
this bug could be moved to that package. No 'python2.3' package
currently exists in Debian.

Must it therefore follow, (as has been argued), that there is no
install bug? At least two users have been bitten, and have registered
their doubts.

Bug #630787 seems to be a systemic Debian meta bug, where incomplete or
inaccurate metadata from an unmaintained ex-package _breaks_ the
install for a current package update. From userland it's hard to see
why such breakage should ever be allowed.

If such a 'ghostly influence' meta bug already exists, then #630787
should be merged with it. If such a meta bug does not exist, then #630787
should be moved and renamed to the appropriate meta package.

Otherwise we can expect that future maintainers will needlessly be
distracted by users with similarly misdirected bug reports, perhaps
forever...

There may or may not be soon a libav-extra package in debian that is

I think so, yes. For details, you'd need to ask ftp-master that. In
terms of communication between ftp-master and pkg-multimedia, the
situation is as ever: there is none on this matter.

Bug#636921: ardour: FTBFS on kfreebsd-*

2011-08-06 Thread Steven McDonald
Package: ardour
Version: 1:2.8.11-6
Severity: important
Tags: patch
Justification: fails to build from source

Hello!

As can be seen from the buildd logs, Ardour fails to build on non-Linux
ports:

https://buildd.debian.org/status/package.php?p=ardoursuite=sid

I have attached a patch which allows it to build on at least kFreeBSD
architectures. I have tested building and running the modified package on
both kfreebsd-amd64 and [linux-]amd64 systems, and have not found any
problems with it.

As noted in the patch, thanks to the FreeBSD porters, without whose work
this would have been a lot more difficult.

Please let me know if you need any more information.

Thanks!
Steven.

Re: please upload pd-osc

2011-08-06 Thread Hans-Christoph Steiner

One important upstream detail is that the lib is called 'osc', the
folder in SVN is called 'osc', the package is called 'pd-osc',
therefore the OSC-meta.pd needs to be osc-meta.pd to match the library
and package name. That change is already in the upstream SVN.

Also, it'd be good to get a release signed-off by Martin Peach, the
upstream author, and to make the release tarball that you posted also
match the other names, i.e. osc-0.1.tar.gz rather than OSC-0.1.tar.gz.

dear fellow pkgers,

pd-osc is a puredata library adding Open Sound Control (OSC)
capabilities (at the application layer (OSI-7)) to Pd.
It allows one to construct and parse OSC messages within Pd. It
includes support for ordinary OSC-messages, typetags, timetags and
bundles. These objects are transport-agnostic, so you can use them to
transmit OSC over UDP, TCP/IP, serial port, or in fact whatever you
want. However, you will have to install additional libraries that

handle the transport layer (like pd-iemnet or pd-comport). [1]

the package can be found at:
git+ssh://git.debian.org/pkg-multimedia/pd-osc
http://git.debian.org/?p=pkg-multimedia/pd-osc.git

it appears to be lintian clean (there is a single Pedantic warning,
about a missing upstream changelog).
it builds cleanly in my pbuilder environment.

this package uses CDBS (ping jonas!)

i would be glad if somebody could review the package and throw some
comments at me.
if there is somebody willing to upload the package, that would be even
nicer :-)

@jonas: i shamelessly copied a README.source written by you, which i

so i

assumed it is GPL-3+; could you please confirm that?
