Re: Bootstrapping libav on a new architecture

2012-06-21 Thread Thorsten Glaser
Fabian Greffrath dixit:

 Yep, from the next upload on it is.

Actually, not even that is needed. I just took the current git HEAD,
versioned it lower than the current sid package, dropped all the
unnecessary B-D for bootstrapping from debian/control, and will
upload that to debian-ports.org unreleased, which is perfectly
fine for such architectures.

But I wonder why I need yasm on m68k? I guess you’d want something
like 「yasm [any-amd64 any-i386]」 as B-D? (IIRC on the syntax.)

With version 2:0.1~r459-2 installed, no musepack files can be played
with mpd or moc. Rebuilding these packages against libmpcdec6 from
unstable did not resolve the problem.

FWIW, after downgrading to the version in Squeeze musepack files can
again be played.

 libmpc (2:0.1~r459-4) unstable; urgency=medium
 .
   * Team upload.
   * Bump urgency to medium as RC #665974 affects wheezy.
   * Avoid re-define mpc_uint8_t, MPC_SAMPLE_FORMAT and mpc_int16_t in
 libmpcdec/requant.h, they are defined somewhere else in the code;
 patch taken from upstream trunk. (Closes: #665974)

AFAIUI, the yasm package should be available on any architecture. You
can build libav without it, but you'll miss a number of important
architecture specific optimizations. For m86k, I doubt that there are
any, so I'm confident that you can drop that dependency for debian
ports. Possibly you might have to pass --disable-yasm to the configure
script (I'm not sure).

Yes, it’s installable – but a quick grep shows it’s only used
in x86 code in libav, so I was wondering about the point. And
TTBOMK (a quick duckduckgo confirms that), yasm is an i386 and
amd64 assembler, so it *cannot* be needed on any other platform.

I have restricted the Build-Depends to yasm [any-amd64 any-i386] and
added a check that automatically adds --disable-yasm if it isn't
found. It can thus be dropped from Build-Depends-Bootstrap1.

Dear Maintainer,

When building qjackctl in Ubuntu the 00_settings patch is applied.
I understand that Debian doesn't use this patch. However, this causes a
FTBFS in Ubuntu since the patch doesn't cleanly apply. I have a patch to
the patch here that fixes the issue and allows it to be applied cleanly.

  * Update 00_settings.patch so that it applies correctly fixing FTBFS.

Thanks for considering the patch.
