Bug#765969: [vlc] green line under some Mpeg-4 XVID videos
Le 2014-10-20 00:28, Francesco Muzio a écrit : Oops, I have forgotten the screenshot The video is really low quality so it's hard to say but we can clearly see by zooming in that shades of grey are visible in the last lines, even though the colour informations is discarded, resulting in a green tint. I can't reproduce the problem with X11 or GLX, so I believe this is a bug in your display drivers. -- Rémi Denis-Courmont ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers

Package: vlc Version: 2.2.0~pre4-1+b1 Followup-For: Bug #761165 Dear Maintainer, *** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** I re-checked playing the DVD again (it gets about 9 seconds into the first introductory video). I can play the DVD alright with mpv using vdpau, so I suspect the problem is some interactin between vlc and the vdpau drivers. I may be able to get permission from the publisher to release perhaps the 15 seconds of video from the DVD. gdb vlc GNU gdb (Debian 7.7.1+dfsg-3) 7.7.1 Copyright (C) 2014 Free Software Foundation, Inc. Bug#760758: amb-plugins: spurious LADSPA_PROPERTY_REALTIME
Fons Adriaensen wrote: On Sun, Oct 19, 2014 at 11:50:05AM +0200, Frank Heckenbach wrote: LADSPA_PROPERTY_REALTIME indicates that the plugin itself *has* a realtime dependency. That would be the case only for few plugins, not really audio processing plugins, more plugins for I/O. We clearly disagree on the interpretation of PROPERY_REALTIME. Indeed. Maybe we should ask Richard Furse, the author of the LADSPA specification for clarification. Then again, you might consider that his own example plugins which can be found in http://www.ladspa.org/download/ladspa_sdk.tgz all set LADSPA_PROPERTY_HARD_RT_CAPABLE, but not LADSPA_PROPERTY_REALTIME, and they're all pure audio processing (and in one case (sine), an audio generating) plugins. For all of my plugins the following is true: if their output is cached, or subject to significant latency, they will not produce the expected result. Hence this must not be done, and setting the property is required to restrict the host. Here's an example (not hypothetical, that's almost exactly what my software will do in some cases): Read an audio file, apply various effects and write the result to another audio file. For various reasons, in some cases I don't want to write the output as I go, but collect the data in memory and write the file at the end. So the output is cached and subject to possibly significant (if the files are large) latency. By this logic, it couldn't use any of your plugins, although looking at what they actually do, there's no reason they wouldn't work. If a user expects to hear a note played on a MIDI keyboard without delay, then this requires the entire processing chain to do the right thing, not just the part that is talking directly to the MIDI device. All plugins in such a chain have the same real-time dependency. I disagree. The chain as a whole has a realtime dependency, but this doesn't mean each of its members has the dependency. As the saying goes, a chain is as strong as its weakest link, and in this case the weakest link (WRT realtime dependencies) is the MIDI interface (whether that's in another plugin or done by the host itself), not the processing plugins. Note that the comment says (emphasis mine): Property LADSPA_PROPERTY_REALTIME indicates that *the plugin* has a real-time dependency (e.g. *listens* to a MIDI device) That's not the case in your example: The plugin doesn't listen to the MIDI keyboard, it's the host (or another plugin) that does. This is most obvious for plugins that implement a synthesiser module, e.g. a VCF, but in fact valid for almost all. In fact in another application I use VCFs which are controlled by data computed from a function. No realtime dependency here: If I repeatedly want to apply the same function values, I can just as well cache the VCF output. Exception would be plugin that implements e.g. a VU-meter or spectrum analyser - it doesn't matter much if the result is displayed with some delay (as long as that remains reasonable). As you say yourself, as long as that remains reasonable. But the comment specifically talks about *significant* (i.e. non-reasonable in your terms) latency. So under your interpretation even these plugins would need to set the property. And if basically every plugin needs to set it, the property becomes meaningless. Another interpretation, closer to yours, would be that if the plugin has REALTIME_PROPERTY set it can not be used in any form of batch (non-real-time) processing. But that is not what the text in ladspa.h says. It doesn't mention batch processing explicitly, but significant latency, and batch processing generally involves significant latency. For example, a VdpVideoMixer is configured to process VdpVideoSurface objects of a specific size. If presented with a VdpVideoSurface of a different size, this error will be raised. That error code makes absolutely no sense in this context. Re: Bug#765009: Subject: RFS: abcmidi/20140928-1 [ITA]
Hi All, I know everyone is busy with the Jessie Release Freeze, but I would be grateful if somebody could take a look at abcmidi (and sponsor if happy). Abcmidi has been sitting unloved for a while now (since 2007). It would be great to get the latest version into Jessie. This time I am copying in the Debian Multimedia Team to get a wider audience. Although probably not mainstream multimedia, it is MIDI! I would be happy to move the package to pkg-multimedia from collab-maint (maybe after the release to avoid unnecessary noise on the list). Bug#765341: more information
tag 765341 patch thanks El 16/10/14 a les 20:19, Martin Steghöfer ha escrit: 2. Small buttons in the project recovery dialog [...] Regarding 2: I've observed this. It's a bug of wxWidgets 3.0.x. I've filed it in the wxWidget upstream tracker, but it doesn't seem to receive much attention: http://trac.wxwidgets.org/ticket/16440 As upstream clearly won't provide a fix for that in time, I've attached a patch for audacity (workaround-wxwidgets-fit-recovery.patch) that works around this problem. (I've attached the bug for your problem 1 again, to make sure it doesn't get lost. Both attached patches are necessary to fix/workaround problems 1 and 2.) Cheers, Martin Description: Workaround for wx bug causing layout problems in recovery dialog Workaround for a bug in wxWidgets 3.0 that causes the Fit() function to fail in certain desktop environments (gnome, xfce) before the first window of the same style class is shown on screen (http://trac.wxwidgets.org/ticket/16440). As a workaround, call Fit() and other methods that depend on its results again *after* we know that the window has been shown. While the bug may affect other calls to Fit() on a low level, the workaround is necessary only for the recovery dialog, which is particularly vulnerable because: 1. It is shown very, very early in the program execution and therefore very likely to be the first dialog of its style class shown on screen. 2. It doesn't have scrollbars or flexible-size controls that could compensate the wrong dialog size. Audacity had a workaround in place for this problem (the class CaptureEvents), which however isn't applicable with wxWidgets 3.0 because it's based on changing the gdk event handler, a change that would be overridden by wxWidgets's own gdk event handler change. Instead, as a new workaround, specifically protect those processings of wxShowEvent and wxTimerEvent that try to do clipboard operations from being executed within Yield(). This is done by delaying their execution by posting pure wxWidgets events - which are never executed during Yield(). Here is the buildd log: https://buildd.debian.org/status/fetch.php?pkg=flactagarch=arm64ver=2.0.4-2stamp=1412523591. The problem appears to be out of date autoconf config.sub and guess files. It is one of many packages which need autoconf updates in order to build on new architectures such as arm64, mips64el, ppc64el and or1k. 'Autoreconf'ing is the recommended way to deal with this problem in Debian, as it works now and in the future, and ensures packages remain buildable from source.
