faad2 and faac

2014-11-08 Thread Julian Cable
Hi,

I'm currently packaging Dream (drm.sourceforge.net) for Debian. Dream uses
faad2 and faac for AAC but it needs special versions of the libraries built
with the DRM symbol defined.

We have instructions on the Dream wiki:

http://drm.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Building_on_apt_based_distros

It would be great if there could be additional binary packages built from the
source packages which installed the libfaad2_drm.so and libfaac_drm.so files.

I'm happy to work out how to modify the packaging scripts if you are happy for
them to be added to Debian.

cheers

Bug#742896: Random blank video with VDPAU enabled

2014-11-08 Thread Bálint Réczey
Hi Bruno,

2014-11-08 20:25 GMT+01:00 Bruno Condez destiny.la...@gmail.com:
 Package: xbmc
 Version: 2:13.2+dfsg1-4
 Followup-For: Bug #742896

 Hey,

I've been following this bug report closely since i've been experiencing the
 described issue.
When VDPAU is enabled, a blank screen was displayed (before all latest the
patches) and more recently XBMC just crashes.

Upgraded XBMC to the latest version 13.2+dfsg1-4 but the issue is still
present (crashes when VDPAU is enabled). Previous versions 13.2+dfsg1-2 and
13.2+dfsg1-3 and 13.0~beta2+dfsg1-1 were the same.
With software rendering, all works as intended.

Using open-source nouveau drivers with an NVIDIA Corporation GT218 card.

 I've attached the xbmc crashlog.
Thanks for the log and the follow up. It seems you experience a
problem, which is different from the original issue.
This bug has a very long history already thus I would not like to clone it.
Please open a new bug against libdrm-nouveau2 because the crash is
happening there. I suspect you would be able to use VDPAU using the
closed source nvidia driver.

Cheers,
Balint

multiple uploaders

2014-11-08 Thread IOhannes m zmölnig (Debian/GNU)
due to a few recent mails [1], i was wondering how much we (would like
to) enforce our 2 uploaders per package rule.

i know of at least one package i maintain under the hood of
pkg-multimedia-maintainers, which has only a single uploader (me,
obviously).

is anybody interested in co-maintaining it (uses CDBS)?
or should i remove this package from the team?

Should be no problem. Would you prefer the additional libraries in
separate packages or in the present packages? Since you plan to rename
them anyway, the latter would cause no conflict (and we already so
something similar with libx264).

Package: librubberband-dev

Hi,

an upgrade test with piuparts revealed that your package installs files
over existing symlinks and possibly overwrites files owned by other
packages. This usually means an old version of the package shipped a
symlink but that was later replaced by a real (and non-empty)
directory. This kind of overwriting another package's files cannot be
detected by dpkg.

This was observed on the following upgrade paths:

  wheezy - jessie

For /usr/share/doc/PACKAGE this may not be problematic as long as both
packages are installed, ship byte-for-byte identical files and are
upgraded in lockstep. But once one of the involved packages gets
removed, the other one will lose its documentation files, too,
including the copyright file, which is a violation of Policy 12.5:
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-docs.html#s-copyrightfile

For other overwritten locations anything interesting may happen.

Note that dpkg intentionally does not replace directories with symlinks
and vice versa, you need the maintainer scripts to do this.
See in particular the end of point 4 in
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-maintainerscripts.html#s-unpackphase

It is recommended to use the dpkg-maintscript-helper commands
'dir_to_symlink' and 'symlink_to_dir' (available since dpkg 1.17.2)
to perform the conversion, ideally using d/$PACKAGE.mainstscript.
See dpkg-maintscript-helper(1) and dh_installdeb(1) for details.

From the attached log (usually somewhere in the middle...):

1m5.2s ERROR: FAIL: silently overwrites files via directory symlinks:
  /usr/share/doc/librubberband-dev/changelog.Debian.gz
(librubberband-dev:amd64) != /usr/share/doc/librubberband2/changelog.Debian.gz

Andreas
