Bug#796685: blender: does not display objects
Package: blender Version: 2.63a-1+deb7u1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, * What led up to the situation? Just starting up blender, the GUI appears with the initial configuration, as known by the manual or various tutorials, with the cube as the object, in object mode. However, the cube did not really show up, neither did a lamp or a camera. Generally, adding other objects did not lead to visible objects at the screen either, while they were existent, as suggested by the outliner on the top right corner of the screen. * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? Only rendering could make the cube appearing at the screen. * What was the outcome of this action? See above. * What outcome did you expect instead? Normally, one would expect (after the mentioned manual or tutorials), that the initial configuration, with a cube, a lamp, and a camera, all of them visible, would show up (without rendering, which is something different), so that one would be able to work with them. (And the same should be the case for all other objects that are added in the course of work.) -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.8 APT prefers oldstable-updates APT policy: (500, 'oldstable-updates'), (500, 'oldstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages blender depends on: ii fonts-droid 20111207+git-1 ii libavcodec53 6:0.8.17-1 ii libavdevice53 6:0.8.17-1 ii libavformat53 6:0.8.17-1 ii libavutil51 6:0.8.17-1 ii libc6 2.13-38+deb7u8 ii libfftw3-33.3.2-3.1 ii libfontconfig12.9.0-7.1 ii libfreetype6 2.4.9-1.1+deb7u1 ii libgcc1 1:4.7.2-5 ii libgl1-mesa-glx [libgl1] 8.0.5-4+deb7u2 ii libglew1.71.7.0-3 ii libglu1-mesa [libglu1]8.0.5-4+deb7u2 ii libgomp1 4.7.2-5 ii libilmbase6 1.0.1-4 ii libjack-jackd2-0 [libjack-0.116] 1.9.8~dfsg.4+20120529git007cdc37-5 ii libjpeg8 8d-1+deb7u1 ii libopenal11:1.14-4 ii libopenexr6 1.6.1-6 ii libopenjpeg2 1.3+dfsg-4.8 ii libpng12-01.2.49-1 ii libpython3.2 3.2.3-7 ii libsdl1.2debian 1.2.15-5 ii libsndfile1 1.0.25-5 ii libstdc++64.7.2-5 ii libswscale2 6:0.8.17-1 ii libtiff4 3.9.6-11 ii libx11-6 2:1.5.0-1+deb7u2 ii libxi62:1.6.1-1+deb7u1 ii python3.2 3.2.3-7 ii zlib1g1:1.2.7.dfsg-13 blender recommends no packages. Recording audio does not hang anymore and listening to what you record works. This is the follow-up report to: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=649561 The problem in stable is currently, that the recorded audio is not really usable. For example instead of a 25-minutes recording I had one with about five minues with this option enabled. This also had some clipping-artefacts. Possibly the CPU-load is also too extreme while trying this. - -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.6 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'proposed-updates'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.63cag (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.utf8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.utf8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages audacity depends on: ii audacity-data 2.0.1-1 ii libasound21.0.25-4 ii libavcodec53 7:0.10.3-dmo1 ii libavformat53 7:0.10.3-dmo1 ii libavutil51 8:1.0.10-dmo1 ii libc6 2.13-38+deb7u5 ii libexpat1 2.1.0-1+deb7u1 ii libflac++61.2.1-6 ii libflac8 1.2.1-6 ii libgcc1 1:4.7.2-5 ii libglib2.0-0 2.33.12+really2.32.4-5 ii libgtk2.0-0 2.24.10-2 ii libid3tag00.15.1b-10 ii libmad0 0.15.1b-7 ii libmp3lame0 1:3.99.5-dmo2 ii libogg0 1.3.0-4 ii libportaudio2 19+svn2021-1 ii libportsmf0 0.1~svn20101010-3 ii libsamplerate00.1.8-5 ii libsbsms102.0.1-1 ii libsndfile1 1.0.25-5 ii libsoundtouch01.6.0-3 ii libstdc++64.7.2-5 ii libtwolame0 0.3.13-1 ii libvamp-hostsdk3 2.4-dmo1 ii libvorbis0a 1.3.2-1.3 ii libvorbisenc2 1.3.2-1.3 ii libvorbisfile31.3.2-1.3 ii libwxbase2.8-02.8.12.1-12 ii libwxgtk2.8-0 2.8.12.1-12 audacity recommends no packages. Subject: libois-1.3.0: libois-1.3.0 needs rebuilding using gcc-5.2 Package: libois-1.3.0 Version: 1.3.0+dfsg0-5 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, libois should be rebuilt using gcc-5.2 in a maybe new libois-1.3.0v5 package because it cannot be used to linked other dependencies such as Ogre against it due to the change of signature of std::string when using c++11. If there are no objections, I will rename the meta-package as well, ready for the next upload. Control: reopen -1 Hey. I doubt this won't be fixed by itself; as said in the bug mentioned by the original reporter, boost 1.55 won't build with GCC5, so you'll have to change the package to use a newer version (e.g. 1.58)... and I don't think this would happen automatically by the transitions. And even if, the issue would be still there so closing the bug isn't justified =) Cheers, Chris. smime.p7s Description: S/MIME cryptographic signature ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers

Hmm, do can often be a bit weak, if that's what you mean... I suggest re-writing as This package automates the process of downloading of the source files for ${PKGG} from videolan.org, compiling them and installing the binary deb packages (${PKGG_ALL}). That has an excess of (the), and it loses the plural instances of downloads (plural runs automatically produce plural output packages, so you can recycle this text for other downloaders regardless of how many packages they produce per run). Oh, and you've lost a Harvard comma again and put the deb back in after I thought we'd agreed to take it out! Would you be any happier with a version that just replaces doing with something less weak, like performing or launching? I doubt this won't be fixed by itself; as said in the bug mentioned by the original reporter, boost 1.55 won't build with GCC5, so you'll have to change the package to use a newer version (e.g. 1.58)... and I don't think this would happen automatically by the transitions. No, we do not need to change anything here. blender B-Ds on libboost-dev, libboost-filesystem-dev, libboost-locale-dev, libboost-regex-dev, libboost-system-dev, libboost-thread-dev, so once it is rebuilt for the GCC 5 transition, everything will be alright. Hi Justin, On Sunday 23 August 2015 22:51:53 Justin B Rye wrote: Dmitry Smirnov wrote: The only thing which makes me feel uncomfortable about this version is doing downloads in This package automates the process of doing downloads of the source Hmm, do can often be a bit weak, if that's what you mean... I mean process of (doing|launching|performing) downloads feels heavy and unnecessary... Why not just process of downloading? That has an excess of (the), and it loses the plural instances of downloads (plural runs automatically produce plural output packages, so you can recycle this text for other downloaders regardless of how many packages they produce per run). Oh, and you've lost a Harvard comma again and put the deb back in after I thought we'd agreed to take it out! Sorry about those unintentional changes. I simply missed all that on manual merge... Would you be any happier with a version that just replaces doing with something less weak, like performing or launching? I reckon performing might be the best for this context but still I'm not convinced if it is necessary... What do you think of This package automates the process of downloading source files for ${PKGG} from videolan.org, compiling them, and installing the binary packages (${PKGG_ALL}). -- Best wishes, Dmitry Smirnov --- However beautiful the strategy, you should occasionally look at the results. -- Winston Churchill signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part. ___ pkg-multimedia-maintainers mailing list pkg-multimedia-maintainers@lists.alioth.debian.org http://lists.alioth.debian.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/pkg-multimedia-maintainers

This is caused by using Replaces without corresponding Breaks. The installation sequence to reproduce this problem is apt-get install libav-tools # (1) apt-get install ffmpeg apt-get remove ffmpeg # (2) The list of installed files at points (1) and (2) should be identical, but the following files have disappeared: usr/bin/qt-faststart usr/share/man/man1/qt-faststart.1.gz This is a serious bug violating policy 7.6, see https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html#s-replaces and also see the footnote that describes this incorrect behavior https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/footnotes.html#f53 The ffmpeg package has the following relationships with libav-tools: Conflicts: n/a Breaks:libav-tools ( 6:9~), qt-faststart ( 7:2.7.1-3~) Replaces: libav-tools ( 6:12~), qt-faststart ( 7:2.7.1-3~) The Breaks was not bumped to match the Replaces.
