Bug#796733: ITP: runabc -- graphical user interface for processing abc files

2015-08-23 Thread Ross Gammon
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Ross Gammon rossgam...@mail.dk

* Package name: runabc
  Version : 1,952
Upstream Author : Seymour Shlien fy...@ncf.ca
* URL : http://ifdo.pugmarks.com/~seymour/runabc/top.html
* License : GPL-3
  Programming Lang: Tcl/Tk
Description : graphical user interface for processing abc files

Runabc is a graphical user interface to several command line driven programs
for processing abc files. It is written in Tcl/Tk script.
.
The script now provides graphical user interfaces to abc2abc, abc2midi, abc2ps,
abcm2ps and yaps. You also need a midi player and a postscript viewer.

I currently maintain abcmidi and this is the graphical interface it. I intend
to maintain runabc within the Debian Multimedia Team.

Dear Maintainer,

My VLC player crashes sometimes when browsing the filesystem for my mp3s
Playlist-My Computer-My Music-[some directory]

The crash occurs when I click a directory name, which I think performs
a scan for the directory contents (when crash doesn't happen, it'll
create an arrow for expansion).

Dear Maintainer,

Please consider changing ois' priority value from extra to
optional because ois is software people want to install whereas
extra indicates some sort of conflict with another program or it has
a specialized use case like debugging symbols. Actually being priority
extra means for all reverse dependencies that they have to adjust their
priority to extra too.

See also Policy 2.5

Thank you for maintaining ois.

Subject: libois-1.3.0: libois-1.3.0 needs rebuilding using gcc-5.2
Package: libois-1.3.0
Version: 1.3.0+dfsg0-5
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

libois should be rebuilt using gcc-5.2 in a maybe new libois-1.3.0v5
package because it cannot be used to linked other dependencies such as
Ogre against it due to the change of signature of std::string when using
c++11.

Simply deb-building the package using gcc-5.2 is sufficing to make it
usable, btw.

Best regards,

Yohann Ferreira

they have already clarified the wording upstream [1].

Bug#796685: blender: does not display objects

2015-08-23 Thread watari

Package: blender
Version: 2.63a-1+deb7u1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Just starting up blender, the GUI appears with the initial
configuration, as known by the manual or various tutorials, with the
cube as the object, in object mode. However, the cube did not really
show up, neither did a lamp or a camera.

Generally, adding other objects did not lead to visible objects at the
screen either, while they were existent, as suggested by the outliner on
the top right corner of the screen.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Only rendering could make the cube appearing at the screen.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

See above.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Normally, one would expect (after the mentioned manual or tutorials),
that the initial configuration, with a cube, a lamp, and a camera, all
of them visible, would show up (without rendering, which is something
different), so that one would be able to work with them. (And the same
should be the case for all other objects that are added in the course of
work.)

Dear Maintainer,

playing videos in debian jessie leads to seg faults on my machine.
So far I tested playing mp4 files and dvds, the outcome is similar.

According to gdb it looks like there is some problem in libavcodec56:

Dear Maintainer,

today I want to point out, that recording with 'Software Playthrough' option is
still not workable. Recording audio does not hang anymore and listening to what
you record
works. This is the follow-up report to:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=649561
The problem in stable is currently, that the recorded audio is not really
usable.
For example instead of a 25-minutes recording I had one with about five minues
with this
option enabled. This also had some clipping-artefacts.
Possibly the CPU-load is also too extreme while trying this.

Bug#796666: libois-1.3.0 needs rebuilding using gcc-5.2

2015-08-23 Thread Yohann Ferreira
Subject: libois-1.3.0: libois-1.3.0 needs rebuilding using gcc-5.2
Package: libois-1.3.0
Version: 1.3.0+dfsg0-5
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

libois should be rebuilt using gcc-5.2 in a maybe new libois-1.3.0v5
package because it cannot be used to linked other dependencies such as
Ogre against it due to the change of signature of std::string when using
c++11.

Simply deb-building the package using gcc-5.2 is sufficing to make it
usable, btw.

Best regards,

Yohann Ferreira

Hey.

I doubt this won't be fixed by itself; as said in the bug mentioned by
the original reporter, boost 1.55 won't build with GCC5, so you'll have
to change the package to use a newer version (e.g. 1.58)... and I don't
think this would happen automatically by the transitions.

And even if, the issue would be still there so closing the bug isn't
justified =)

Cheers,
Chris.

Package: ffmpeg

Severity: serious

Control: affects -1 + libav-tools

Hi,

during a test with piuparts and DOSE tools I noticed your package causes
removal of files that also belong to another package.
This is caused by using Replaces without corresponding Breaks.

The installation sequence to reproduce this problem is

  apt-get install libav-tools
  # (1)
  apt-get install ffmpeg
  apt-get remove ffmpeg
  # (2)

The list of installed files at points (1) and (2) should be identical,
but the following files have disappeared:

  usr/bin/qt-faststart
  usr/share/man/man1/qt-faststart.1.gz

This is a serious bug violating policy 7.6, see
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-relationships.html#s-replaces
and also see the footnote that describes this incorrect behavior
https://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/footnotes.html#f53

The ffmpeg package has the following relationships with libav-tools:

  Conflicts: n/a
  Breaks:libav-tools ( 6:9~), qt-faststart ( 7:2.7.1-3~)
  Replaces: libav-tools ( 6:12~), qt-faststart ( 7:2.7.1-3~)

The Breaks was not bumped to match the Replaces.

From the attached log (scroll to the bottom...):
