The LADSPA_Descriptor's of all the plugins contain
LADSPA_PROPERTY_REALTIME which is unneeded AFAICS.

This may be confusion with LADSPA_PROPERTY_HARD_RT_CAPABLE
(I agree the naming is a bit unfortunate ;).

However, as ladspa.h says:

: /* Property LADSPA_PROPERTY_REALTIME indicates that the plugin has a
:real-time dependency (e.g. listens to a MIDI device) and so its
:output must not be cached or subject to significant latency. */

I don't see such a dependency here. So please remove
LADSPA_PROPERTY_REALTIME.

(Same for amb-plugins, mcp-plugins and rev-plugins, see #760758.)

Bug#798341: [inkscape] impossible to install inkscape

Do you really believe that simply dropping this information in a bug
report about inkscape will help?

> Please write me if you need more information.

I believe that _you_ need more information.

The inkscape package depends on some libaries that are entangled in a
_huge_ ABI transition that is currently going on in unstable. This
transition involves renaming of the library packages and conflicting
with the old versions. While some of the libraries that inkscape
depends on have already migrated to testing, the inkscape package that
has been rebuilt against these libraries (version 0.91-5+b2) has not
yet.

As I have already suggested yesterday, please be patient until inkscape
0.91-5+b2 migrates to testing.

There was no official tracker on this issue; I requested an informal
g-b on IRC to the Release Team since I uploaded openimageio before
opencolorio on the gcc-5 transition; my bad.
Now, the +b1 version in the archives for openimageio fixes the problem.
At this point, a new binNMU on blender is probably needed.

I'll take care of it later today, I guess.

Cheers.

There is little to switch, the old a3 is already the master+upstream
combo, whereas a4 is in master-a4 and upstream-a4. Otherwise ACK.

I don't think so (as explained above):

The LADSPA_Descriptor's of all the plugins contain
LADSPA_PROPERTY_REALTIME which is unneeded AFAICS.

This may be confusion with LADSPA_PROPERTY_HARD_RT_CAPABLE
(I agree the naming is a bit unfortunate ;).

However, as ladspa.h says:

: /* Property LADSPA_PROPERTY_REALTIME indicates that the plugin has a
:real-time dependency (e.g. listens to a MIDI device) and so its
:output must not be cached or subject to significant latency. */

I don't see such a dependency here. So please remove
LADSPA_PROPERTY_REALTIME.

The same seems to apply to vco-plugins, mcp-plugins and rev-plugins.
Should I submit separate bug reports for each package?

Dear Maintainer,

The current description for the amd-plugins says
"ambisonics LADPSA plugins"

From what I can see this is a type and should be "LADSPA".
I have attached a patch which fixes the description.

This was originally reported in Ubuntu as
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/amb-plugins/+bug/1168781

The LADSPA_Descriptor's of all the plugins contain
LADSPA_PROPERTY_REALTIME which is unneeded AFAICS.

This may be confusion with LADSPA_PROPERTY_HARD_RT_CAPABLE
(I agree the naming is a bit unfortunate ;).

However, as ladspa.h says:

: /* Property LADSPA_PROPERTY_REALTIME indicates that the plugin has a
:real-time dependency (e.g. listens to a MIDI device) and so its
:output must not be cached or subject to significant latency. */

I don't see such a dependency here. So please remove
LADSPA_PROPERTY_REALTIME.

(Same for amb-plugins, vco-plugins, mcp-plugins, rev-plugins and
wah-plugins, see #760758.)

Bug#798341: [inkscape] impossible to install inkscape

your hardware problems are a totally unrelated issue.
i understand that this issue is the reason why you are mixing both
"stable" aka "jessie" (which seems to work fine for you) and "testing"
aka "stretch" (picking the parts you want updated).

but this doesn't mean that Debian supports such a setup, (and as a
consequence: that bugs caused by this setup are valid).

furthermore, you have plenty of other repositories outside of debian
enabled.
some of them are known to make problems (e.g. deb-multimedia), that's
why you might get heated replies about them.
others are from other distributions (e.g. linuxmint).
others are totally unknown.

if you have only a single package installed from any of those
non-Debian repositories, this package might depend on a certain
version that is *conflicting* with an official package like 'inkscape'
as found in testing, making it uninstallable.

so who do you think is to blame?

so to conclude:
a large eco-system like an entire operating system with thousands of
libraries and applications is a complex system.
it takes a lot of man power to make all its components work together.
Debian does this work.
if you (the user) deliberately replaces some of it's components, then
Debian cannot be held responsible for any damage you do to your system.

that's why your bug report is considered invalid and has been closed.

the good news is: even though you have tampered with your system, it
still is consistent (everything works). it just won't let you install
things that are known to break your existing setup (this is the actual
reason why you cannot install 'inkscape').
/this doesn't mean however, that

finally:
there *is* a way to install newer versions of (selected) packages on a
"stable" system. it's called "backports", and provides specially buit
packages that integrate into e.g. "jessie".

  http://backports.debian.org/

note however, that backports only provides a small subset of the
~5 packages available in Debian.

and of course (to reiterate what others have already said): if you do
want to have support from Debian, you need to first /use Debian/: that
means uninstalling all packages from unofficial (wrt Debian)
repositories and disabling all unofficial repositories.

Something similar was already pushed to the upstream git
repository[1], so I don't think it's worth sending this version.
But if the translation that was made by the author/committer is wrong,
then feel free to contact them and ask to update.

It was necessary to allow the gcc-5/g++-5 transition to complete. I'm
sure you don't really want to know more at thi stage of your
involvement in Debian packaging ;-)

Tough question; long story short, many libraries involved in blender
building process are actually under a massive update/rename due to
"The Transition".
Renaming affects the shared libraries, not the development ones; so,
once all these shared libraries are back in the archives, building
blender should be possible again, since the -dev lib packages that
blender depends upon are again pointing to the right shared libraries.

Everything is on its way, at this point. Blender in unstable/sid
should migrate to testing soon.
Is this a good answer? ;-P

Almost. They're master branches for specific releases.
There is a 'master.jessie' where simple updates are made to fix
minimal (or security) issues.
Same for the others.
For the sake of consistency, I usually try to keep track of all the
uploads in the master branch's debian/changelog.

Via a source package ready to be built on our beloved Deb-o-Matic
building infrastructure.

This is something I wasn't aware of, since I use Blender rarely :-(
I'll see if the package as it is in its shape now allows me to enable
that feature; in that case, I would make a test build of the sid
version and provide a new upload asap.

Eh, not that simple! I made some tests in the past on the 2.75a
release and it was failing on a lot of things, and most of them were
OpenCOLLADA-related.

v1.2.2 is a "almost commercial" version, blunding lot of plugins of
various 3D modellers.
v0.1.0 is the real open source core of the program.

I think this statement is important to help you become aware that the

Inkscape but it is a general suggestion.

Do you really believe that simply writing this sentece in a bug
report about inkscape will help?

Source: synfig
Version: 1.0-1
Severity: serious
Justification: breaks ABI without a package rename
Tags: sid stretch
User: debian-...@lists.debian.org
Usertags: libstdc++-cxx11

Background[1]: libstdc++6 introduces a new ABI to conform to the
C++11 standard, but keeps the old ABI to not break existing binaries.
Packages which are built with g++-5 from experimental (not the one
from testing/unstable) are using the new ABI. Libraries built from
this source package export some of the new __cxx11 or B5cxx11 symbols,
dropping other symbols. If these symbols are part of the API of
the library, then this rebuild with g++-5 will trigger a transition
for the library.

In the case of synfig, std::string appears in functions in public
headers, so it seems very likely that a transition is needed.
The transition normally consists of renaming the
affected library packages, adding a v5 suffix (libsynfig0v5).
The actual SONAME should not be changed when doing this.

If an upgrade to a new upstream SONAME is already planned, and that
SONAME has never been available in Debian compiled with g++-4, then an
alternative way to carry out the transition would be to bump the
SONAME. However, please avoid doing this unless the new upstream version
is very low-risk: the libstdc++ transition has stalled development in
unstable for long enough already.

These follow-up transitions for libstdc++ are not going through exactly
the normal transition procedure, because many entangled transitions are
going on at the same time, and the usual ordered transition procedure
does not scale that far. When all the C++ libraries on which this library
depends have started their transitions in unstable if required, this
library should do the same, closing this bug; the release team will deal
with binNMUs as needed.

Looking at the build-dependencies of synfig:

* boost has already been renamed
* etl seems to be header-only so does not need a transition
* libmagick++ has already been renamed
* libmlt++ is not believed to need a transition (but please check)

so I think this sub-transition may be ready.

The package might be NMU'd if there is no maintainer response. The
release team have declared a 2 day NMU delay[2] for packages involved
in the libstdc++ transition, in order to get unstable back to a usable
state in a finite time.

Regards,
S

Do you happen to know the technical details on this? The

give a overview, while we need an explanation on what bits to change

This sound like a good argument for reassigning this bug report to
ffmpeg. But I suspect the maintainers are going to need a way to
reproduce it. Can you provide those details before we pass this bug

Justification: 4

Dear Maintainer,

pymappergui crashes just after start due to missing dependencies:

from pymappergui.mymapper import MyMapper
  File "/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/pymappergui/mymapper.py", line 1, in

It seems mapper module is not packaged for Debian, if I install it with pip, it
shows
other dependencies: python-scipy python-matplotlib

Even with them installed pymappergui crashes, but that might be fault of my
system (I
wasn't able to install cmappertools with pip):

The module “scipy.cluster.hierarchy“ is used instead, but it will be slower.

ok, pushed both ardour3 and ardour.

needs testing of upgrading & coninstallability before an upload.

the new "ardour" package will be exactly a single "ardour" binary
package (no more -dbg, -i686 and -altivec packages) - should we add
"Provides" for those who need that?

Bug#795340: (no subject)

2015-09-10 Thread Tiago Bortoletto Vaz
Hi,

Thanks for reporting it, and sorry for the long delay.

Indeed, PyMapperGUI should depend on python-libmapper, which is already
packaged for Debian. However, python-libmapper is not considered stable
enought by the upstream to be in Debian testing/stable. See details
here:

https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=768901

So I've just fixed PyMapperGUI package to depend on python-libmapper,
but it will be only in unstable for now. I'll ping the libmapper
upstream and check if they're going to release a stable release of their
library soon.

Bests,

No sure about -i686 and -altivec
But -dbg debugging package we should have.

Bug#793937: [BTS#793937] templates://libdvd-pkg/{templates} : Final update for English review

2015-09-10 Thread Christian PERRIER
Dear Debian maintainer,

On Saturday, August 08, 2015, I notified you of the beginning of a review
process
concerning debconf templates for libdvd-pkg.

The debian-l10n-english contributors have now reviewed these templates,
and the final proposed changes are attached to this update to the
original bug report.

Please review the suggested changes, and if you have any
objections, let me know in the next 3 days.

However, please try to avoid uploading libdvd-pkg with these changes
right now.

The second phase of this process will begin on Monday, September 14, 2015, when
I will
coordinate updates to translations of debconf templates.

The existing translators will be notified of the changes: they will
receive an updated PO file for their language.

Simultaneously, a general call for new translations will be sent to
the debian-i18n mailing list.

Both these calls for translations will request updates to be sent as
individual bug reports. That will probably trigger a lot of bug
reports against your package, but these should be easier to deal with.

The call for translation updates and new translations will run until
about Monday, October 05, 2015. Please avoid uploading a package with fixed or
changed
debconf templates and/or translation updates in the meantime. Of
course, other changes are safe.

Please note that this is an approximative delay, which depends on my
own availability to process this work and is influenced by the fact
that I simultaneously work on many packages.

Around Tuesday, October 06, 2015, I will contact you again and will send a
final patch
summarizing all the updates (changes to debconf templates,
updates to debconf translations and new debconf translations).

Again, thanks for your attention and cooperation.

# team
#
# If modifications/additions/rewording are needed, please ask
# debian-l10n-engl...@lists.debian.org for advice.
#
# Even minor modifications require translation updates and such
# changes should be coordinated with translators and reviewers.

i *think* i meant that the ardour repository will not contain the

it's minor but sometimes one would like to bisect a decision...

Yes, as I said in
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=9;bug=765547
we have, and Fons had agreed to change it (but I don't know what's
become of it)."

Aha it looks like conversation has been scattered in many bugs ;)

Thank you for clarifying.

Just to be extra sure e.g. amb-plugins file ambisonic0_if.cc contains
several entry like this:

 LADSPA_PROPERTY_REALTIME | LADSPA_PROPERTY_HARD_RT_CAPABLE,

which all should be changed to:

 LADSPA_PROPERTY_HARD_RT_CAPABLE,

Right?

best regards

mira

Bug#760758: amb-plugins: spurious LADSPA_PROPERTY_REALTIME

2015-09-10 Thread Frank Heckenbach

I know, but I was asked to report a bug for each package separately.
(Actually, there may be more, I only checked the ones I've actually
used ...)

Yep. (Basically, any occurrence of LADSPA_PROPERTY_REALTIME should
be removed, since none of Fons's modules requires it AIUI.)

Regards,
Frank
